    Abstract: A packaged terminal air conditioner unit (PTAC) and methods for operating the same are provided. The PTAC includes a vent aperture defined in a bulkhead of the PTAC through which make-up air may flow. An indoor fan urges a flow of primary make-up air at a primary flow rate and an auxiliary fan urges a flow of auxiliary make-up air at an auxiliary flow rate. A controller determines a target make-up air flow rate, e.g., based on a user setting which is determined from building code calculations factoring in expected room occupancy, room size, and other factors. The controller then operates the auxiliary fan to urge the flow of auxiliary make-up air at the auxiliary flow rate which is substantially equivalent to the target make-up air flow rate minus the primary flow rate.

Discharge louvers are curved upward to prevent short cycling while still being totally adjustable, up and down, right and left. Adjustment posts are anchored to a clip and are adjustable for right or left discharge of air and up or down discharge. Single handles control both the right or left discharge through a rear set of louvers and up or down discharge through a front set of louvers. A no circulation area prevents short cycling and curved edges prevent turbulence in air flow through louvers.

In each embodiment of the invention, a plurality of interleaved exhaust face louvers having overlapping depending edges are included, that are both used to channel rain water away from the air condition unit and are free to articulate to and away from the A/C fan air exit face grate and the adjacent surfaces of the main cover assembly to which they are attached. The articulated louvers are moved from a resting to an open position by air pressure from the fan driven cooling air being drawn through the A/C unit coils.

A decorative surface is either printed on the second surface of the impermeable sheet or is a separate decorative sheet, which is secured to the second surface of the impermeable sheet. A securing system is provided for securing the edge of the impermeable sheet about the unit to prevent the escape of hot air and the entrance of cold air through the unit.
