  • Patent number: 9007416
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for communicating between mobile devices. Such methods involve establishing a communication session between the mobile devices using a local network, such as a Wi-Fi network. The methods also involve transmitting data streams from one mobile device in the group to all other mobile devices using this local network. The data streams may include audio and/or video data generated by the mobile devices. For example, mobile device users may conduct a teleconference through the local network and/or share media. The mobile devices may be interconnected using a star or ring topology, which may depend on distances between participants and/or alarm features that reflect connection losses between the mobile devices. Each mobile device may be equipped with one or more microphones for collecting audio signals from its user. A mobile device may also include an audio processing system for noise suppression and/or echo cancellation.

In an aspect, the FAP facilitates policy management and employs a policy component to perform an analysis and enforce a set of policies for dynamically selecting an optimal route for traffic received at the FAP based on a decision-making process. Typically, the set of policies can specify different routes based on various factors, such as, but not limited to, type of traffic, current and/or future network resource availability, current time, day and/or date, location of the FAP, location of a UE sending/receiving the traffic, a lowest cost route, and/or route based on cost-benefit, etc. Further, a monitoring component is employed to observe the route employed by that traffic, which can be utilized by various services, such as, billing, Quality of Service, security management, address management, failure management and/or provisioning.

  • Patent number: 8890680
Abstract: A method and system facilitate the one or more operating modes for monitoring of an intelligent home system. The method and system facilitate the detection of an adverse condition in a building, the generation of an alert based on the detection of adverse condition, sending a notification to a user about the alert, asking the user how to respond to the alert via a message sent to a mobile device, and determining whether to send the alert to a central monitoring system to facilitate notification of an appropriate responder for the adverse condition. Determining whether to send the alert to the central monitoring system may be based on an affirmative command from the user or a failure to receive any command from the user. The user may be notified via at least one of a telephone call, text message, email, or application notification. The user may provide instructions to the method and system via at least one of a telephone call, text message, email, application command, or web script.

  • Patent number: 8885568
Abstract: A policy application method for Machine Type Communication (MTC) and a Policy and Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) are provided by the disclosure. The method comprises that in a course in which an MTC device attached to a PCEF establishes an Internet Protocol-Connectivity Access Network (IP-CAN) session, the PCEF locally obtains a group policy corresponding to a device group to which the MTC device belongs (S302); the group policy is applied in the IP-CAN session (S304). The technical solution of the disclosure reduces the time required by applying the MTC policy by the PCEF, saves network resources, and increases utilization of the network resources.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for managing service for carrier subscribers and migrating them to service bundles. In an embodiment, the method comprises obtaining a list of existing services to which a subscriber is subscribed; comparing the list of services to available service bundles; and determining if there is an exact match of services between the list of existing services and services included in one or more available service bundles, and if so, migrating the subscriber to the one or more available service bundles with the exact match. A subscriber may be manually migrated if migration is not possible with an exact match or partial match.

  • Patent number: 8880022
Abstract: An environment is described in which a processing system provides application-level usage information to users. In one scenario, for example, the processing system may provide personal usage information to a user who is operating a user device. The personal usage information itemizes the amount of data (and/or other resources) that has been consumed by each application run by the user device. In another scenario, the processing system may provide expected usage information associated with at least one candidate application provided by a marketplace system. The expected usage information describes an expected consumption of data (and/or other resources) by the candidate application upon running the candidate application by the user device. The processing system can tailor the expected usage information that it sends to a particular user based on user profile data. The user profile data describes a manner in which users operate applications.

  • Patent number: 8874761
Abstract: An architecture for optimizing signaling for arbitrary proprietary and non-proprietary protocols. In one embodiment, a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) stream is passed as a byte stream from an application to a local proxy over a first session, from the local proxy to a proxy server over a second TCP session, and from the proxy server to a content server over a third TCP session. The local proxy observes and identifies patterns within the byte stream, without being aware of the underlying protocol. Once a pattern is identified, the second TCP session is torn down such that the first TCP session replays the pattern to the application, and third TCP session replays the pattern to the content server. Once either side detects a change in the pattern, the second TCP session is re-established to deliver the changed content to the other end.

Abstract: A unified system of programming communication. The system encompasses the prior art (television, radio, broadcast hardcopy, computer communications, etc.) and new user specific mass media. Within the unified system, parallel processing computer systems, each having an input (e.g., 77) controlling a plurality of computers (e.g., 205), generate and output user information at receiver stations. Under broadcast control, local computers (73, 205), combine user information selectively into prior art communications to exhibit personalized mass media programming at video monitors (202), speakers (263), printers (221), etc. At intermediate transmission stations (e.g., cable television stations), signals in network broadcasts and from local inputs (74, 77, 97, 98) cause control processors (71) and computers (73) to selectively automate connection and operation of receivers (53), recorder/players (76), computers (73), generators (82), strippers (81), etc.
