  • Patent number: 6152825
Abstract: A pre-assembled structural unit for driven axles of automotive vehicles, comprising a wheel flange (1), a brake disc (2), a wheel bearing (3), and a synchronizing joint including an inner part (5), an outer part (6), and an anti-friction bearing (7), can be mounted in a carrier unit (4) provided on the vehicle side. The structural unit provides that the inner part (5) of the synchronizing joint is integrally formed with a shaft journal (5a) which can be connected to the end of a driving shaft (8) in a non-rotating way.Hence, the pre-assembly interface hitherto located in the synchronizing joint is shifted toward the driving shaft so that the synchronizing joint with the sealing sleeve (10) completely mounted results in the pre-assembled unit, thereby substantially simplifying the final assembly.

  • Patent number: 6059661
Abstract: A rotary shaft assembly including a mechanism by which one part of the shaft rotates about a rotation axis which is controllably deviated from the rotation axis of the other part of the shaft. The angular extent of deviation is controllably varied by mutually rotating adjacent shaft supports about an axis which is at a non-zero angle with respect to both rotation axes. The direction in which the shaft is deviated is controlled by rotating the non-deviated shaft support with respect to a reference shaft support. The assembly includes remote control of direction and deviation and is is particularly applicable to drilling of deviated wells. Further, the assembly includes a remotely actuated and de-actuated temporary anchoring system for downhole direction sensing and deviation adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5989177
Abstract: A blood processing centrifuge includes a disposable fluid processing assembly having a fluid processing chamber. Fluid is communicated to and from the fluid processing chamber through a flexible umbilicus. The fluid processing chamber spins while the centrifuge pulls the umbilicus around an axis of centrifugation. The centrifuge engages the umbilicus through a thrust bearing received in a gimbal assembly carried on a rotating wing plate. The gimbal assembly allows the umbilicus to pivot relative to the wing plate under the forces developed during centrifugation. The gimbal assembly includes a bearing retainer adapted to securely retain umbilicus thrust bearings of differing sizes a gimbal that loosely but securely retains the bearing retainer. Clearance between the gimbal and the bearing retainer enable the bearing retainer to accommodate thrust bearings of differing sizes without causing gimbal binding.
