The disc spring portion is integrally rotatable with an output shaft which is provided coaxially with the input shaft and which is rotatable relative to the input shaft, and is deflected to displace the second meshing portion in a direction opposite to the first meshing portion in a case where a load equal to or greater than a set value is applied to the disc spring portion while the second meshing portion is being biased towards the first meshing portion.

The gear is constructed having at least one recess providing at least one inclined surface that resides part-way within the thickness of the gear. Torque is transferred therebetween the plate and gear when the ramped teeth and extending posts mate with the respective recess and through-bore. A first torque limit is exceeded when the post breaks free from the through-bore. A second, lesser torque limit is exceeded when the ramped teeth release from their mated recess.

The cam is connected to the rotating member to rotate together with the rotation of the rotating member, or be independent of the rotating member so as to move in the axial direction of the rotating member separately from the rotating member. The cam is connected to the housing such that the cam can maintain the connection with the housing when external force below a designated value is applied to the rotating member, and release the connection with the housing in the case that external force more than the designated value is applied to the rotating member.

    Abstract: A bearing includes an inner race member having an end surface. An outer race member is disposed about the inner race member. The outer race member has an internal shoulder for engaging the end surface of the inner race member. The inner and outer race members are configured to define a raceway between them and to define a snap ring seat between them. There are cylindrical rollers in the raceway and a snap ring in the snap ring seat. The bearing may be provided as a follower head on a cam follower or may be eccentrically mounted on a drive shaft to serve as a cam. A cargo dolly may include such a cam near a wheel, to help the wheel overcome an obstacle. A bearing can be assembled by inserting the inner race member into the outer race member, disposing cylindrical rollers in the raceway and disposing a snap ring in the snap ring seat.

    Abstract: A mounting structure for a cam-type torque damper is provided to ease the assembling thereof, improve the maintenance properties thereof and prevent the variation in thrust direction restricting position due to loosening or the like. A collar is spline connected to an axial end of a crankshaft, and a primary gear, a lifter, a spring and a spring holder are fitted on the collar in that order. A cotter is fitted in a groove in the collar so as to restrict the spring holder with respect to the thrust direction position to thereby assemble the cam-type torque damper into a small assembly. The cam-type torque damper so made to be a small assembly is then fastened to the axial end of the crankshaft with a bolt. A concave cam is formed in a side of the primary gear, and a convex cam provided in an axial end portion of the lifter is brought into mesh engagement with the concave cam.

    Abstract: A clutch arrangement for a power tool having a multi-speed transmission. The clutch arrangement includes a clutch member and a follower member. The clutch member is coupled to a member of the transmission that is proximate the torsional input of the transmission and which must be in a non-rotating position to permit the transmission to perform a torque multiplication operation. The follower member is biased into engagement with the clutch member to inhibit relative rotation therebetween. As the clutch member and the transmission member are coupled to one another, the transmission is able to perform a torque multiplication operation. When, however, the torsion that is exerted onto the clutch member is sufficient to overcome the frictional engagement between the follower and clutch members, the clutch member, and the transmission member, rotate, thereby inhibiting the capability of the transmission to continue to perform the torque multiplication operation.

    Abstract: A torque limiting coupling defines a longitudinal axis (17) and has a coupling hub (8) with circumferentially distributed through holes. Transfer elements are adjustably held in the holes. A coupling sleeve (6) has first recesses corresponding to the through holes. The switching disk (9) is urged towards the torque transmitting position. This urges the transfer elements in the direction towards the coupling hub (8). The transfer elements engage, for torque transmission, in recesses of the coupling sleeve (6). Coupling sleeve (6), when a predetermined nominal torque is exceeded, is transferable from the torque transmitting position to the freewheeling position. Second recesses, corresponding to the through holes, receive the transfer elements in the freewheeling position.

    Abstract: A right angle indexer includes an internal torque limiter. The indexer includes an input shaft with a cam, and an output shaft. The cam on the input shaft rotates a hub on the output shaft. The hub is rotatable relative to the output shaft. The output shaft has a driven surface, and the hub has a drive surface. The drive surface includes a plurality of detents which are irregularly spaced about the drive surface. A plurality of rollers are spaced irregularly about the driven surface. The driven plate is biased into contact with the drive plate, and the rollers are received in the drive plate detents. As long as the rollers are engaged in the drive plate detents, rotation of the hub by the cam will cause the driven plate, and hence the output shaft, to rotate. However, if a predetermined torque load is exceeded, the driven plate will become disengaged from the drive plate, and continued rotation of the hub will not cause rotation of the driven plate or the output shaft.
