Motor Operated Patents (Class 472/119)
  • Patent number: 7740359
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying images from a video projector. The apparatus includes a virtual projector screen assembly with an elongate screen element, such as a rod, that is mounted at one end to a base. The base is adapted for pivoting about its axis, arid a driver mechanism pivots the, base at high frequencies. During operation, the screen element oscillates between two edge positions with images projected from the projector being displayed on a side of the screen element facing or proximate to the projector. The two edge positions can be thought of as intersecting at the base and define a sweep angle (e.g., the angular difference between the two outer travel points of the screen element that is typically less than about 90 degrees). The driver may include a motor with an oscillating output shaft that pivots the base such as with a belt attached to the base.

Abstract: A method of controlling a child motion device having a motor includes the steps of applying first and second voltages to the motor associated with corresponding first and second voltage ranges above and below an initial baseline voltage, monitoring respective motion characteristics of the child motion device resulting from the first and second voltages, and iterating the applying and monitoring steps with narrowed first and second voltage ranges and an adjusted baseline voltage. The adjusted baseline voltage corresponds to a level within a selected one of the first and second ranges based on a comparison of the respective motion characteristics. The child motion device may then be calibrated to utilize the adjusted baseline voltage. In some cases, the adjusted baseline voltage determines a voltage applied to the motor during a motion start procedure or to maintain a desired swing speed.

  • Patent number: 6908398
Abstract: A swing device has a supporter, a seat suspended on the supporter to swing in front and back directions, a permanent magnet installed in the seat, and an electromagnet installed to face the permanent magnet in a swing path to have the same polarity as that of the permanent magnet. The electromagnet is selectively driven when the permanent magnet approaches, generating a repulsive force for the permanent magnet. The seat swings by the repulsive force. The swing device has merits in that its simple structure makes manufacturing cost reduced and that a fixed polarity of the electromagnet prevents a malfunction of the device.

  • Patent number: 6875118
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pneumatically actuated swing ride that has rigid swing members rotating about a shaft in a pendulum style of swinging ride. The ride operates with rigid swing members raising one or more riders in a seat platform or gondola up and then accelerates them down through an arc in the pendulum style of swinging movement. The controlled upward movement, a brief delay, and the accelerated downward movement produce weightlessness in the ride that is unmatched in the industry. The weightless effect is incurred at both ends of the arc and every time the cycle is made. By using a pneumatic cylinder, air is used as an air cushion both accelerating and decelerating the ride, giving complete control of the ride.

  • Patent number: 6872146
Abstract: A swing apparatus comprises a support stand, a swing supported with respect to the support stand to oscillate back and forth along a swing arc about a pivot axis, and a drive assembly that operates to oscillate the swing. Various components of the drive assembly are coupled to the swing to oscillate therewith about the pivot axis. The drive assembly has a drive member that periodically engages a portion of the support stand resulting in a force being imparted on the swing to move the swing.
