  • Patent number: 5803820
Abstract: A portable sand trap for use as a golf instructional for teaching and practicing golf shots from sand. The portable sand trap is placed in various locations and at various distances from a target or hole on a driving range, golf course, indoor practice facility or personal property. The apparatus includes a base having a bottom section, a sidewall, and an open top. The bottom section and the sidewall form an internal retention area in the base. The internal retention area is designed for holding sand. The apparatus is rendered mobile through a plurality of ground engaging wheels attached to the base. • Patent number: 5782700
Abstract: An improved golfing target device (11), as shown in FIG. (1), in the preferred embodiment having a flat, uniformly thick, substantially circular target area (10), being 1.12 meters (44 inches) in outer diameter, with a centered hole (1) approximately the 108 mm (41/4 inches) size of a regulation golf hole. Support device (2) causes target area (10) to be inclined toward the vertical with respect to the horizontal plane, with the lowest edge of target area (10) touching the same plane as the bottom of support device (2). Permanent attachment by rivets or weld maintains the position of target area (10) on support device (2). Flag pin receptacle (9) in the preferred embodiment is positioned properly and permanently attached, by rivets or weld, to the bottom of support device (2), which causes an inserted flag pin (6), with flag (6a), to protrude up thru the center of the golf size hole (1).

  • Patent number: 5749789
Abstract: A portable miniature golf game to be played with a putter and ball having multiple, flexible retaining rails, obstacles, and a ball receptacle which are attachable to multiple putting mats arranged in desired abutting relationships. Each of the putting mats has a top-playing surface of loop-like fibers which are suitable for interlocking engagement with hook-like projections incorporated into the base surface of each retaining rail and obstacle. The hook-like projections are disposed on mount devices that are interconnected with each retaining rail and obstacle. The number and distribution of mount devices interconnected with each retaining rail and obstacle is dependent on the size of each retaining rail and obstacle. The ball receptacle may be disposed on any desired location on any putting mat, and the retaining rails and obstacles may be detachably attached to the putting mats at any desired location to form various miniature golf hole configurations.

  • Patent number: 5690557
Abstract: A golf putting mat provides a pair of parallel raised portions separated for defining a putting stoke path. Each of the raised portions are constructed as a tubular sleeve with a rigid insert. Each of the sleeves accept two inserts arranged colinearly. The inserts are removable for folding the mat for compact portability. The mat provides a top layer of a golf green simulating material, a bottom layer providing support and non-slip characteristics and a middle layer for preventing the mat from being stretched out of shape when standing upon it.

  • Patent number: 5636844
Abstract: A simulated golf game including a substantially reduced size course in which each "hole" (10) and its respective tee marker (40) is separated from each other by a minimum of about fifty (50') feet and a maximum of about one hundred and fifty (150') feet for "holes" having pars "3" to "5" (FIG. 7), that can be played, for example, in the yard of the user, including regulation size balls (20) that are of relatively light weight; "holes" in the form of, for example, relatively large, outer diameter [e.g. twenty (20") inch] and relatively large, inner diameter [e.g. fifteen (15") inch] ramp rings (10, FIGS. 1A & 1B) substantially spaced about on the ground, each having an easy-entry/reluctant-exit hoop configuration; miniature flags (30, FIGS. 3A-C) associated with the "holes", and tee markers (FIGS. 4A-4D) and tees. The ball has an effective "maximum" range of about fifty (50') feet and is formed of an aerated, hollow, plastic hemisphere with a weight of about a tenth (0.1 oz) of an ounce.

  • Patent number: 5595543
Abstract: A golf putting practice system which is a complete golf putting system to train a golfer in the fine points in putting a golf ball. The putting practice system comprises an elongated putting track and a training device. The putting track is used to simulate a true golf course turf for putting the golf ball. The training device is provided for line of sight for the golfer. The elongated putting track is made from three pieces which comprises a front uphill ramp including a width adjustable channel, a middle uphill ramp and a rear uphill ramp including a cooperating ball return gutter and cup hole. The training device comprises two L-shaped attachment deflection members with two adjustable guide pointers, removably attached to a face of a conventional golf putter.

  • Patent number: 5586941
Abstract: A golf putting practice device is provided which will enable a golfer to practice putts of varying distances in a small area. The device includes a base, a height indicator arm hingedly connected to the base, and a relatively short track (e.g., 6-7') along which a golfer putts. The track may be elevated at one end to a desired height and secured at that height to the height indicator arm. The height indicator arm is calibrated for the length of the track and the various heights to which the track is raised, such that when the track is raised to a certain height (e.g., 2'), a practice putt on the device will correspond to a putt of a desired distance (e.g., 30') on an actual putting green. The surface of the track can be altered to simulate a dry putting green or a wet putting green. Varying putting green conditions, i.e., varying frictional forces exerted against the ball by the putting green, can also be varied simply by varying the height to which the track is raised.

  • Patent number: 5580320
Abstract: An artificial golf green is designed for use at driving ranges. The target green structure is formed at an incline to provide users of the golf range the appearance of a much larger target surface due to the perspective effects when viewing an inclined object from a distance. The construction of the target green is sectional to facilitate transportation. The landing surface includes artificial turf and an energy absorbing pad for more realistic performance.

  • Patent number: 5577967
Abstract: A golf swing practice pad has a flat, generally elongate base having a length and a width; means for securing the base to a practice surface; a generally elongate hitting surface having a length, and having a width wider than the width of the base; and means for adjustably attaching the hitting surface to the base. Advantageously, the pad has a special tee slot in its base. The pad is useful in golfing instruction and practice. In another aspect, a method for attaching web material to plastic stock embraces heating the plastic stock, for instance, heating thermoplastic pellets to provide heated plastic stock, which may be extruded from a die, contacting the heated plastic stock and the web and passing the same through a sizing device, under conditions such that the web is attached to the stock. Another aspect embraces attached web and stock materials, including a loop web for hook and loop attachment melded to the practice pad base.

  • Patent number: 5516109
Abstract: A modular golf putting platform is comprised of at least two platform sections interconnected together at abutment ends. Each platform section or semi-integral section without the carpet glued to the top wall has opposed side walls, end walls, and a top wall having an upper putting surface. A cup for receiving a golf ball is mounted under a hole formed in the upper putting surface of at least one of the platform sections. Support brackets are detachably secured to a lower edge of the side walls for supporting the platform sections on a support surface. A bracket connecting element is provided for interconnecting the brackets, and therefore the platform sections. The support brackets have height adjusting elements to align the upper putting surface of adjacent platform sections in a substantially common plane.
