With Displaceable Indicator Responsive To Head Movement Patents (Class 473/211)
  • Patent number: 10682559
Abstract: A device to encourage players to keep their chin down after finishing their swing in sports such as baseball or golf. The device includes a magnet disposed on a chin portion of the device. A separate metal button is removably disposed on the user's back shoulder. While the user is swinging a bat or other piece of sporting equipment, the magnet moves toward and makes contact with the metal button located on the user's shoulder. As the magnet makes contact with the button, an audible “click” sound is emitted which confirms to the user that their head has stayed in the down position during their swing and after hitting the ball. By delaying any lifting of the head to watch the ball after it has been hit encourages the user to keep their head down which thereby improves their ability to see the ball and make contact with it.

  • Patent number: 9931538
Abstract: A kick boxing training device with a pair of D shaped handle members, a flexible cable and a ball member. The excess cable is capable of wrapping within the U shaped cross section portion of the D shaped handle. Each handle also includes a spring biased cable retaining assembly to hold the adjusted cable length in a fixed position. The ball shaped member includes a slidable cable retaining portion so that the cable is capable of being slid within the cable retaining portion. A person can trap the ball member between his or her chin and clavicle and then perform a punching action as he or she cycles between a left and a right hand punch motion. The cable can be extended and fixed in place so that the kick box training device can be used as a jump rope.

  • Patent number: 8702529
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to systems and methods for alerting a golfer when he or she moves his or her head during a swing or stroke. According to an exemplary embodiment, a golf training aid comprises a movement detection mechanism and an alerting system. The training aid can comprise, for example, a support structure, such as a tube, and a weighed object, such as a ball. The weighted objet is located on or in the support structure, and the support structure is coupled to the golfer's headwear, such as a hat or visor. The weighted object is initially settled in a receiving portion of the support structure, but displaces when the golfer moves his head. The displacement alerts the golfer to the head movement, allowing the golfer to reduce or eliminate such movement from his or her golf game.

  • Patent number: 7997992
Abstract: A golf ball aligning device (GBAD) (10) that is disclosed as a golf visor (12) and as a golf cap (80). Both the visor (12) and the cap (80) feature a bill (40) that has a front square edge (44), an upper surface (50) and a lower surface (52). To the lower surface (52) and adjacent to the front square edge (44) of the bill (40) is applied a dark non-glare finish (60). Alternatively, to the square front edge (44) of the bill (40) can be attached by means of a living hinge (58) a square movable tab (48) also having a dark non-glare finish (60). The dark non-glare finish (60) when viewed by a golfer, aids in aligning a straight ball trajectory along a golf course. The GBAD (10) can also be designed to include a bill adjusting assembly (114) that interfaces with the right and left head bands (26),(32) and the respective right and left hand bands (26, 32).

  • Patent number: 5993323
Abstract: Apparatus for detecting head movement of a golfer relative to an address position. The apparatus includes a movement switch positioned on the golfer's head which provides a signal indicative of head movement from a first position to a second position. The position of the movement switch on the golfer defines the first position as approximately the address position prior to the golf swing. The apparatus also includes a transducer which detects the sound of a golf club striking a ball and provides a signal in response thereto. A microcontroller becomes active in response to the transducer signal and then generates an alarm signal in response to the movement switch signal. In response to the alarm signal, the transducer produces an audible alarm to inform the golfer of the head movement during the golf swing. The apparatus has a housing with a clip for securing it to a hat worn by the golfer.

  • Patent number: 5842931
Abstract: A mirrored device which allows the athlete to observe his motions as he performs. Specifically as this invention relates to golf, the system trains these fundamentals: steady head control; correct alignment; proper golfing posture; the proper swing paths for the backswing and downswing. These goals are accomplished by: a large mirror to reflect the golfer's side that is opposite the direction he is driving the ball, this mirror is comprised of a diagram and moveable, adhesive strips which serve as visual guides for instillment of the mentioned fundamentals; a pair of angularly arranged mirrors which are supported by a visored headgear that the golfer wears. The user adjusts the small angled mirrors for sighting himself. Following the charting of his proper backswing and downswing planes with the moveable strips, he guides his club, and hands along the relection of these strips with the purpose of memorizing the feel of these correct motions.

  • Patent number: 5752887
Abstract: There is provided a golf aid device (10) for aiding a user to strike a golf ball in a predetermined manner. The device (10) generally includes a support (20) to be worn securely on the user's head; and, a self-adjusting visual guide assembly (30) coupled to the support (10). The self-adjusting visual guide assembly (30) includes an alignment portion (32) disposed in spaced relation to the support (10) for visually delineating within the user's line of sight the projected path that the golf ball is to travel upon being struck in the predetermined manner. The self-adjusting visual guide assembly (30) also includes a mechanism for pivotally coupling the alignment portion (32) to the support (10), whereby the orientation of the alignment portion (32) relative to the given playing surface in at least one plane of motion is substantially preserved independent of the user's head movement in that plane of motion.

  • Patent number: 5722898
Abstract: The pointer rod is a rod having a tip and an attachment end to be attached to a user's cap visor or other head attachment device. The attachment end may have a clip such that the pointer rod may be slipped onto the visor and retained by the spring force of the clip. The rod may be constructed of rod elements which may be collapsed one into the other thus allowing for a variable length pointer rod and for ease of storage. By proper location of the pointer rod relative to the user's focal center line of sight when the user's head moves the movement is exaggerated to aid in catching a golfer's attention to aid in training to watch a golf ball while moving a golf club.

  • Patent number: 5524894
Abstract: A head movement sensor, which may be used for such things as golf practice, is adapted to be attached or carried on a person's head. The device consists of a sensor which is mounted to the head and senses an initial position by means of a hollow tube carrying a conductive liquid with electrodes extending within the tube. The tube is shaped so that as the head is angularly displaced from the initial position to a displaced position, the liquid flows within the tube, changing the resistance between the electrodes. By measuring the change in resistance, an electrical signal can be derived. Sudden changes in angular displacement also produce an electrical signal. The electrical signals are processed to produce an audible indication.
