  • Patent number: 9308423
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a golf club head comprising one or more center of gravity and bias adjustment features. In some embodiments, the golf club head comprises an elongated cartridge having one or more sockets or weight ports to receive weight plugs, the arrangement of which can be changed to adjust the mass properties of the golf club head. The orientation of the cartridge itself can also be reversed to adjust the mass properties. In other embodiments, the golf club head comprises at least one semicircular weight ring that extends around the rear portion of the golf club head, and is removable and replaceable to adjust the mass properties of the golf club head. In still other embodiments, these features are combined on one head.

Abstract: Embodiments of movable weights, such as weight assemblies and weight screws, for a golf club head are disclosed herein. One embodiment for a weight assembly, for example, comprises a mass element having a first end, a second end and a sidewall extending between the first end and the send end. The sidewall of the mass element defines a first bore extending through the mass element and at least a portion of the sidewall of mass element tapers in a direction from the first end to the second end. This embodiment further includes a retaining element configured to engage the first bore adjacent the first end of the mass element and defining a second bore. The weight assembly further includes an elongate fastener having a first end configured to be received within the second bore of the retaining element and a second end extending through the first bore and beyond the second end of the mass element when the mass element, retaining element and fastener are assembled together.

  • Publication number: 20080132353
Abstract: The club head contains a number of blind holes arranged at appropriate places other than the hitting surface of the club head. Each blind hole is for the accommodation of a weight member. Each weight member contains at least a weight element and a fastening element. The fastening element has a threaded rod extending from the bottom of a cone-shaped head. The fastening element is squeezed into an end of the weight element with the threaded rod penetrating through the weight element and into the club head for fixation. On the other hand, the circumference of the weight element has a number of slits so that the cone-shaped head of the fastening element can force the wall of the weight element to press tightly against the hole to further enhance the fixation.
