  • Patent number: 5219505
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for making an endless, flat, flexible belt of pourable plastics include a core, especially a multiple core, as tension bearer, for example in a conveyor belt of polyurethane. Spaced apart support filaments extending transversely of the longitudinal direction of the belt are tightened in a mold approximately in the center plane of the belt to be cast so that the tension bearer will be placed as accurately as possible in the middle, based on the thickness of the belt to be produced. Subsequently the tension bearer is wound in longitudinal direction of the belt on the winding support formed by the support filaments. Thereupon liquid plastic material is poured into the mold and following that the support filaments protruding from the side surfaces of the belt are cut off upon termination of the curing.

  • Patent number: 5164241
Abstract: The invention relates to a transport belt consisting of a fabric-reinforced plastic sheet material having a textile reinforcing layer which extend in the longitudinal direction and is formed from interlaced warp and weft threads. To obtain good overall strength together with a simple structure of the transport belt, it is provided that the reinforcing layer is formed by a strength component in the form of a double pile cloth comprising an upper and a lower fabric which are held together by low, weft-binding pile threads in such a way as to form a tension-resistant unit of upper and lower fabric in which the pile threads, in the event of a bending stress on the transport belt, permit a small degree of recoverable flexibility between the upper and the lower fabric in the warp direction.

  • Patent number: 5015220
Abstract: An endless work fabric having a loop seam construction and a method of manufacture thereof is disclosed, wherein the fabric is used as a papermaker felt, a papermaker dryer fabric, a forming wire, or filter fabric. An endless belt formed of a preselected material preferably having longitudinally extending yarns included therein is collapsed upon itself to form folded ends that are stripped to expose end loops. The loops as formed in the ends of the fabric are intermeshed to define a transversely extending channel through which a pintle member is extended for joining the two ends of the folded fabric to define the endless work fabric. An alternate construction includes forming the fabric of nonwoven materials and interconnecting the ends of the collapsed fabric by a hinge-like construction through which a pintle member is extended.

  • Patent number: 4721498
Abstract: An endless elastomeric or rubber drive belt includes a body having a mid-circumferential plane and first, second and third ply portions of reinforcement therein. The first ply portion has first cable means oriented substantially parallel to the mid-circumferential plane for carrying tensile loads and defining a second plane contiguous therewith. The second ply portion has second cable means arranged on a positive bias angle and the third ply portion has third cable means arranged on a negative bias angle to the mid-circumferential plane. The second and third ply portions are juxtaposed and constructed differently so as to substantially neutralize the shear stresses in each generated from tensile loading while bending by apportioning their strain levels in approximate proportion to their distances from the second plane.
