  • Patent number: 5704864
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a drive unit including a movable gear section having a first pinion gear and a second pinion gear, which are coaxially integrated. A driving mechanism is provided for spinably moving the movable gear section in a circular orbit. A fixed ring gear is coaxial arranged relative to the circular orbit, the fixed ring gear having a first gear section, formed on a circumferential face, wherein the first pinion gear is engaged with the first gear section, and wherein the movable gear section is spun when the movable gear section is moved in the circular orbit. An output ring gear is coaxial positioned relative to the fixed ring gear and is capable of rotating with respect thereto. The output ring gear includes a second gear section, formed on a circumferential face, wherein the second pinion gear is engaged with the second gear section, and wherein the output ring gear is rotated when the movable gear section is spun.

  • Patent number: 5632705
Abstract: An epicyclic roller gear (100) has two rings (1 and 4) provided with an inner profile. One ring (1) is fixed and the other ring (4) is parallel or coaxial to the first ring (1) and is rotatably mounted with respect thereto. The number of teeth on the two rings is different. Both rings (1 and 4) have at least two parallel internal profiles (1.1, 1.2, 4.1 and 4.2) which are offset in the circumferential direction by a fraction of the pitch of the profile or teeth. When each ring has two mutually offset internal profiles, they are mutually offset by half the pitch of the teeth, so that in this case the gaps of the one tooth system are occupied by the teeth of the second, adjacent tooth system. This results in a high contact ratio with the corresponding complementary profiles of a rolling element, preferably a roller carrier (5) with rotatable rollers which roll in the gaps between the teeth of the internal profiles.

  • Patent number: 5611747
Abstract: The present invention teaches a wobble-hinged metal fitting suitable for adjustable motor vehicle seats, and more particularly, for back seat gears. The fitting includes two hinged brackets connected together by an eccentric, a carrier and shaft running therethrough. Each bracket contains an internal gear and an external gear associated with the internal gear. The eccentric is positioned next to one of the gears and is turnably connected to the shaft. The eccentric includes means for compensating play in the seat which consist of an eccentric part having a receiving inlet, at least one rolling body, at least two jamming planes and at least one spring. The spring is positioned such that it pressures the rolling body to come in contact with the jamming plane on one side and the gear on the other side. The carrier is positioned such that when the rolling body is in a locked position, an initial turning movement of the shaft results in the release of the locked rolling body before the eccentric starts to move.

  • Patent number: 5355743
Abstract: An actuator module for inducing the relative motion of robot members joined in a robot joint includes a Ferguson epicyclic gear train, integral motor and integrated control means. The gear train comprises a plurality of base gears connected to the robot members and a plurality of planet gear carriers, each planet gear carrier having a plurality of planet gears rotatably mounted therein. A motor integrated with certain gear train components induces the rotation of the planet gear carriers about or within the base gears. Because of the Ferguson paradox, this induces the motion of base gears connected to one robot member relative to those connected to the other robot member, which in turn causes the relative motion of the robot members. The actuator module can be configured as dual substantially symmetric systems and may comprise multiple stages of epicyclic gearing.

Abstract: A planetary reduction gear comprising pairs of partial planetary gears, two partial internal gears and a sun gear or comprising pairs of partial planetary gears, two partial sun gears and an internal gear in which partial planetary gears mesh with partial internal gears or with partial sun gears independently. One of the partial gears is fixed to the input shaft or to the casing. The other partial gear is loosely connected to the input shaft or to the casing by a spiral coupling which allows the partial gear to move in spiral direction. A pressing means pushes the partial gear in the axial direction. Force of the pressing means moves the partial gear in the spiral direction. The partial gear slightly rotates relatively to the other partial gear. Relative rotation of the partial gears cancels backlashes. In the case of helical gears, the spiral coupling can be replaced by an axial coupling.
