  • Patent number: 11885168
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a sliding door system including a motor, a driveshaft coupled to the motor, and a coupling mechanism fastened to the sliding door. The coupling mechanism is configured to convert rotation of the driveshaft into linear motion of the sliding door, such that movement of the coupling mechanism is directly correlated to movement of the sliding door. The sliding door system also includes a rotary encoder, a belt mechanically coupled to the coupling mechanism. The belt, as moved by the coupling mechanism, is configured to turn the rotary encoder as the sliding door moves, such that movement of the rotary encoder is directly correlated to movement of the sliding door and not directly correlated to movement of the motor and driveshaft.

  • Patent number: 10487567
Abstract: The improved sliding glass door or window includes several glass panels that are mounted free-floating in a split frame with an upper and lower section that permits the glass panels to form at least a portion of an external wall of a skybox or the like. The frame and the glass panels that form the portion of the external wall preserves the weatherproofing of the room while also maintaining the safety and security of the room. The glass panels include spaced apart stationary end panels and at least one movable intermediate panel and possibly more intermediate panels as desirable. The end panels each abut against respective room walls with a flexible strip to seal the sliding glass door or window to the walls. The movable intermediate panels may be moved interiorly toward a fixed wall to provide access to the exterior of the room. The intermediate panels seal against the stationary panels to seal the sliding glass door or window thereto.

  • Patent number: 6923238
Abstract: A multi-panel sliding door includes a main drive to directly move a leading door panel and includes an auxiliary drive to smoothly accelerate a lagging door panel. In some embodiments, the auxiliary drive includes a hanging weight that urges the lagging panel to its open position. In another embodiment, the auxiliary drive includes a belt and sheave arrangement attached to the lagging panel. The leading panel is coupled to move the belt around two sheaves as the leading panel moves relative to the lagging one. The belt's movement is limited by a bumper that is attached to one point on the belt and is constrained to travel between one of the sheaves and a fixed stop attached to a wall or the track. As the main drive starts moving the leading panel to its open position, the relative movement between the two panels causes the belt to move the bumper up against the fixed stop. From there, continued opening movement of the leading panel continues rotating the belt around the sheaves.

  • Patent number: 4862639
Abstract: A serving window for installation in drive-through facilities such as fast food restaurants is disclosed. The window unit comprises two window members carried by rotatable shafts and set in a support frame, preferably of stainless steel, with an operating mechanism mounted within the sill of the support frame and operable electrically or manually by applying pressure to a bump bar mounted on the inside of the window frame or to a foot pedal linked to the operating mechanism by a hidden cable. The operating mechanism consists of a pivotal crossbar mounted horizontally on the support frame and secured on each end to an "L" shaped crank arm arrangement connected to a corresponding window shaft. When the mechanism is activated, the crossbar oscillates within the limited confines of the window frame and effects full opening of the windows in synchronism upon slight pressure applied to the bump bar or one of the other means of operation. Release of pressure on the bump bar automatically closes the windows.

  • Patent number: 4852300
Abstract: A pair of stacking gates or doors has a trailing gate and a leading gate which roll along parallel tracks between a retracted position with the gates approximately side-by-side and an extended position with the leading gate further from the retracted position than the trailing gate. Flexible roller chains are used to retract and extend the gates. A retraction chain has one end connected to an anchor fixed between the gates, is wrapped around a rear idler sprocket on the rear of the trailing gate, and is connected at the other end to the leading gate. An extension chain has one end connected to the fixed anchor, is wrapped around a front idler sprocket near the front of the trailing gate, and is connected at the other end to the rear of the leading gate. As the trailing gate is moved, the idlers move, changing the lengths of the reaches of chain and moving the leading gate twice as far as movement of the trailing gate.
