  • Patent number: 11441350
Abstract: A triple sash hung egress window allows the operable lower sash and middle sash to each travel a greater distance relative to a prior art hung window in order to give more clear space height for a given size window. This additional travel distance is achieved by raising the position of the seating flanges of each sash to be located proximate an upper surface of the top rail of the respective sash. Additionally, the profile of the sill is lowered so that a portion of the flanges of the glazing pocket of the lower sash visibly extend above the sill.

  • Patent number: 9567788
Abstract: A window, with a hybrid sash counterbalance and assist mechanism, includes a frame having upper and lower sashes slidable within the frame. A sash coupling element extends between the upper and lower sashes. The hybrid sash counterbalance and assist mechanism is coupled with the sash coupling element. The window with the hybrid sash counterbalance and assist mechanism is operable in a sash counterbalance mode and in an independent sash movement mode. In the sash counterbalance mode, movement of the upper or lower sash causes converse movement of the lower or upper sash through the sash coupling element. In the independent sash movement mode, one of the upper and lower sashes is held static while the other of the lower or upper sashes is moved.

Abstract: A vehicular, powered slider drive interface and drive assembly are provided. The interface has a driver bracket, which includes contact surfaces, mounted on a regulator, a driver receiver, which includes contact surfaces, mounted on a slider panel, and separate bumpers disposed on each driver surface. When the regulator is caused to move in an open direction, a first driver contact surface is brought into selectively non-attached pushing or pulling mechanical contact with a first driver bumper to smoothly open the slider-panel. When the regulator is caused to move in a closed direction, a second driver contact surface is brought into selectively non-attached pushing or pulling mechanical contact with a second receiver bumper to smoothly close the slider panel. Since the driver bracket and the driver receiver are not rigidly/directly mechanically attached, the slider panel slides freely without binding and requiring precise alignment of the drive interface.

  • Patent number: 6591552
Abstract: A vehicular sliding window assembly includes first and second spaced apart fixed window panes and a polymeric member provided on perimeter portions of the fixed window panes. The polymeric member forms a gasket and includes at least one guide track molded in the polymeric member. At least one sliding window pane is positioned in the guide track and is positionable between a closed position and at least one open position. The window assembly further includes a support rail, which supports the sliding window pane above a lower surface of the lower guide track whereby the weight of the sliding window pane is borne by the support rail and not the lower guide track to reduce the friction between the guide track and the sliding window pane to provide a smooth sliding action when the sliding window pane is moved along the guide track between its closed and open positions.

  • Publication number: 20020092235
Abstract: A resilient, insulated door panel for a sliding door includes a resilient core protected by a compliant outer covering with a seal disposed about the perimeter of the panel. The panel has sufficient resilience to recover from an impact that temporarily deforms it, yet has sufficient rigidity to transmit a compressive force needed for effectively setting the seals. Much of the core is filled with air to not only provide effective insulation and resilience, but to also provide an extremely lightweight door panel that can be operated to travel rapidly along an overhead track. Some embodiments include relatively rigid backup plates that provide a solid foundation to which the perimeter seals can be attached. The backup plates are segmented so as not to completely restrict the flexibility of the door panel.

  • Patent number: 6324788
Abstract: A powered window regulator for use with a horizontally sliding window assembly may be disconnected from a sliding pane to permit manual operation of the window. The regulator has a tubular guide rail mounted adjacent and parallel to the lower edge of the window assembly by pivot brackets which engage the respective ends of the guide rail such that the guide rail is rotatable about the pivot brackets. A carrier block slides within the guide rail, and a portion of the block extends out through a longitudinal slot extending along the length of the guide rail to engage a pane attachment affixed to the sliding pane. The carrier block is moved reciprocally along the guide rail by a motor-driven cable to slide the sliding pane between open and closed positions. Rotation of the guide rail about the pivot brackets through approximately ninety degrees moves the carrier block between an upright position wherein it engages the pane attachment and a depressed position wherein it is disengaged from the pane attachment.

  • Patent number: 6112462
Abstract: A window regulator for driving two sliding window panes, such as of a truck rear window, in opposing directions has a housing containing two linear actuator, one driving each of the sliding panes. The first actuator has opposite ends engaged with a drive drum and a midpoint engaged with the first sliding pane, and the second linear actuator has opposite ends engaged with the drive drum and a midpoint engaged with the second sliding panes. The drive drum has two parallel, spiral grooves, one receiving each of the linear actuators. The first and second linear actuators pass around pulleys and guide blocks attached to the housing and follow separate paths within the housing such that rotation of the drive drum in one direction pulls on respective first ends of the first and second linear actuators to draw the sliding panes toward one another, and rotation of the drum in the opposite direction pulls on respective second ends of the linear actuators to draw the panes away from one another.

  • Patent number: 5724769
Abstract: A motor vehicle window construction has a pull-pull closed loop cable drive system for opening and closing a glazing pane slidably mounted in a frame. A motor and drive drum apparatus for powered operation of the window construction is mounted to the vehicle body at a location remote from the frame. The cable system includes drive cable wrapped around the drive drum. A first drive cable segment extends laterally from the glazing pane or from a slidably mounted subassembly incorporating the glazing pane, toward one side of the frame member. A second drive cable segment extends from the glazing pane or subassembly toward the opposite side of the frame. The glazing pane and drive cable together form a closed loop from the drive drum. Rotating of the drive drum in a first rotational direction by actuation of the drive motor pulls the slidably mounted transparent pane toward its open position. Rotating the drive drum in the opposite rotational direction pulls the glazing pane toward its closed position.
