  • Patent number: 8997401
Abstract: A door system includes two bi-parting, center-opening, bi-directional door panels disposed for counter-rotating swinging movement in a doorway. An operator is coupled to the door panels via a synchronizing system such that the door panels may be selectively opened in either direction relative to the doorway, and closed in the opposite direction, and such that the door panels swing through substantially equal angular distances. The synchronizing system may include a linkage, among other systems, and the operator may include an electro-mechanical operator, a mechanical door closer with spring, or a hybrid of both. A person may effect an emergency breakout by manually using a single-motion, low-force push against one of the door panels to simultaneously open both door panels.

  • Patent number: 8978301
Abstract: Provided is an opening/closing apparatus with a lock capable of performing the opening/closing and closed lock of a sliding door by a single actuator and arbitrarily setting the timing of a lock operation. In the opening/closing apparatus with a lock, an electric motor is driven and the drive force of the electric motor is input to the sun gear of a planetary gear mechanism and output from the internal gear or the carrier. A pair of sliding doors are opened and closed by the drive force output from the internal gear. While the pair of sliding doors are at a fully closed position, the lock and lock-released states of a lock mechanism are switched by a lock restricting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8390219
Abstract: A door operator with an electrical back check feature is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention are realized by a motorized door operator that electrically creates a back check force for an opening door. The door operator simulates the back check normally created by hydraulic means in convention door closers, but without the use of pistons, springs or hydraulic fluid. The door operator includes a motor disposed to operatively connect to a door so that the door will open when the motor moves, and a position sensor to determine a position of the door. A processor is programmed to exert a closing force on the door in the back check region. In some embodiments, the closing force is exerted by injecting a voltage into the electric motor of the door operator.

  • Patent number: 7254918
Abstract: An emergency unlocking device for locking and unlocking systems for swinging sliding doors, in particular of rail vehicles. The emergency unlocking device has a traction device that engages on a first spring-loaded pivoted lever that is connected via a second lever to a third lever. The third lever is attached to the axial shaft of a spring-loaded rotary magnet and has elongate holes in which a bolt is displaceably mounted. When the traction device is subjected to tensile stress, the bolt engages with a fourth lever that is pivotably mounted on a shaft, and moves the fourth lever. The fourth lever is operatively connected via a coupling rod and deflection unit to a locking rod that moves the vertical direction. A rod, via which a force component that brings about the locking and unlocking of the door leaves can be applied, engages on the fourth lever.

  • Patent number: 5651428
Abstract: A coupling for causing an elevator car door to engage an elevator hoistway door includes a pair of vanes, each end of each vane pivoted on a link connecting it with the other vane, the links being disposed for rotation between said two vanes on an elevator car door thereby forming a parallelogram. The vanes extend vertically between four rollers which rotate about horizontal axles disposed at the top of the hoistway door, and which provide rotationally stiff coupling. A solenoid actuator can move one vane up to cause the parallelogram to shrink, into an uncoupled position. When the actuator is disenergized, a spring causes the parallelogram to spread so that the vanes are wedged between the rollers and the two doors are coupled together.

  • Patent number: 5441325
Abstract: A vehicle accessory such as a visor includes a body with a vanity mirror frame and mirror mounted thereto. A pair of opposed covers are slidably coupled to the mirror frame and are coupled together such that movement of one cover between an open and closed position effects the movement of the remaining cover in an opposite direction. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the inwardly facing ends include external illumination sources which abut one another when the covers are closed to provide a point light source for the interior illumination of the vehicle when the visor is in a lowered use position and which is directable by movement of the visor for providing illumination for the vehicle occupants. When the covers are moved to an open position, the illumination sources are spaced-apart on opposite edges of the mirror and provide illumination for the face of the user of the illuminated vanity mirror facilitating use under low, ambient light conditions.

A manual activator having an ergonometrically correct actuating plunger, for emergency door opening, operates a sleeved clutch. Fixed to the sleeve clutch is a drive bar with arms having individually adjustable lengths. The drive arms actuate outboard door shaft levers on individual door leaf through door drive rods intermediate the door arms and drive arms. Each rod incorporates spherical rod ends. The drive arms also actuate limit switches establishing door opened and door closed circuitry for energizing the electric drive system.
