  • Patent number: 5347755
Abstract: An automatically actuated door arrangement is provided. The arrangement includes a plurality of slidable doors which are opened and closed by an electric motor/cable arrangement. Open and close switches control the opening and closing of the doors. A sensor device provides the open doors/close doors signals to the controller, and eventually to the motor. The motor is connected to the cable drive by a clutch arrangement which allows slippage should the movement of the doors become obstructed. The door travel path may be arranged in a slight V-shape, to allow for more efficient sealing of the door bottoms. A controller is provided to receive, process, and distribute electronic signals for controlling the extent of the door opening, the speed of opening and closing, and other operating parameters. The controller includes a series of indicators for monitoring the status of the door arrangement, and also includes inputs for altering the operating parameters of the door arrangement.

The first and the second doors are guided at the first and the second end walls so as to be movable in opposite directions. At least one coupling element for coupling the first and the second doors extends through the first and the second end walls and the space therebetween. The first and the second doors have a substantially identical construction and substantially identical moving characteristics. The coupling element is preferably a cable and a sleeve enclosing the cable.

Abstract: An automatic sliding door in which a main drive moves at least one door panel to open and closed positions. An electromagnetic clutch is located between the main drive and the door panel for the purpose of disconnecting the panel from the drive and to open the door in event of a power failure. An auxiliary drive is connected to the door panel and stores energy received when the door panel is in a closed position, so as to drive the door to the open position when the clutch disconnects the main drive from the door panel in event of power failure. The auxiliary drive has a rubber cable actuated always with the door so that the auxiliary drive can be tested with every movement of the door panel.

  • Patent number: 5240349
Abstract: A power mine door system including a door frame to be installed in a mine passageway to define a generally rectangular doorway. A mine door is defined by a pair of generally rectangular door leafs which are hinged on the door frame at opposite sides of the doorway for swinging between an open position to permit passage through the doorway and a closed position in which the door leafs are generally coplanar and close the doorway. The door leafs are so dimensioned that there is a substantial vertical gap between the door leafs when they are closed to accommodate convergence of side walls of the passageway. A relatively wide vertical sealing flap is secured to one of the door leafs for overlapping a face of the other door leaf when the door is closed for covering the gap between the door leafs.

  • Patent number: 5193307
Abstract: A double door swing control apparatus for facilitating the simultaneous opening of a pair of conventional, separately hinged double swing doors having hinges attached externally to the door such that the pivot axis of the door is external to the door. The invention includes a pair of spools and a pair of brackets secured to the top or bottom surface of the respective doors. A shaft connects each spool to a respective bracket, whereby movement of the associated door causes rotation of that spool. Cables connect and extend between the spools such that rotation of one spool causes an equal and opposite rotation of the other spool causing the doors to open and close in unison. The invention may be mounted either above or below the door.
