Motor Driven Patents (Class 49/349)
  • Patent number: 5505022
Abstract: A thin window regulator which can be assembled easily and which requires less installation space inside a door panel is disclosed. Both longitudinal ends of a belt are connected to a pair of sliders and the belt is made into a ring shape. Sliders are movable along a guide rail and are biased closer to each other by springs. Thus, since the ring-shaped belt is wound around a sprocket and the sliding portion, tension is not reduced by a creep phenomenon and the belt does not loosen. One end of the ring shaped belt is formed to be wound around the sliding portion. Thus, the window regulator can be made thinner compared with prior art systems in which both ends of a belt are wound around pulleys and a required installation space inside the door at the upper portion of the guide rail can be made thinner.

  • Patent number: 5497578
Abstract: A cross-arm window regulator for moving a window between raised, intermediate and lowered positions in a vehicle door, includes a resilient stop cushion housed in the lift channel mounted on the glass. Sliders mounted on the ends of the lift and cross arms engage the ends of the cushion as the window nears raised position, gradually compressing it to cushion window movement to raised position. If the geometry is the same for raised and lowered positions, the same cushioning will also occur in the window lowered position. The spring rate increases as compression occurs. The cushion can be a foam butyl rubber strip or a metal spring of various types. The spring rate can be tailored by making the cushion a dual density foam strip, a foam strip with holes of varying sizes to provide a variable cross-section, or a coated foam strip. An integral stop can be included in the form of a hard plastic shell for the foam strip or spring.

  • Patent number: 5469663
Abstract: A glider block assembly for a window regulator in a motor vehicle structure includes a glider block and a spring clip adapted to receive a pin with an engaging head extending from a window lift plate. The glider block has an opening sized to receive the pin and a guide pin slot intersecting the opening. The spring clip is disposed in the spring clip slot and provides an entry gap smaller than the engaging head. • Patent number: 5404673
Abstract: A power window apparatus for carrying out a safety control operation when an object is caught in the window, which apparatus is capable of setting a safety control mode disabling region to within the required distance exactly. The power window apparatus includes a motor rotation sensor for sensing a state of rotation of the motor, and a window movement sensor for sensing the amount of movement of the window. The object-caught state is detected on the basis of the rotational rate of the motor, and the absolute position of the window is detected on the basis of the detected amount of movement of the window. The safety control mode is disabled in response to the detected absolute position of the window. A reference value for detecting the object-caught state may be varied as the window approaches its fully closed position.

  • Patent number: 5207393
Abstract: The invention concerns an electric-motor drive system for a bowden-cable window lifter. The system includes a braking spring in the form of a helical spring in the manner known from manual bowden cable window lifters. This is made possible by the inclusion on the worm wheel of an arcuate slot crossed by a tab affixed to the cable reel and extending to the other side of the worm wheel into the clearance of a ring affixed to the worm wheel. The ring and the tab are enclosed by the helical spring of which the bent-off ends each enter the gap between the tab and ring. These components (ring, tab, and spring) are combined to one side of the worm wheel, and achieve the locking of the cable mechanism--by expanding the spring against a surrounding braking surface--when the mechanism is actuated in reverse by movement of the window pane.

  • Patent number: 4986029
Abstract: A powered cross-arm window regulator assembly for a vehicle door having a unitized spacer and isolator of an engineering plastic material interposed between the motor and the sector gear and the support bracket of the assembly. This spacer and isolator dissipate some vibrational energy of the drive assembly and provides a cushioned and quiet downstop for the sector gear. The isolator presents a low friction bearing which contacts one side of the sector gear and cooperates with a low friction bearing on the bracket to provide a supporting guide for the sector gear therebetween during its pivotal operation in raising and lowering the window allowing the gear to be made with a large centralized cutout so that its mass is reduced. Furthermore, the isolator has locating pins to assist in the assembly of the regulator assembly insuring that it is properly put together for optimized operational efficiency.

Abstract: A vehicle window regulator is provided for lifting a window and lowering the window for retraction into a window well in a vehicle door. In the best embodiment the window is supported for lifting and lowering by first, second and third flexible cables, each of which is attached at one end to a take-up mechanism mounted on the window. The first and second cables at the end opposite the take-up mechanism are mounted to an upper portion of the body of the vehicle door, and the third cable at the end opposite the take-up mechanism is mounted to a lower portion of the body of the vehicle door. For lifting the window, the take-up mechanism shortens the first and second cables and simultaneously lengthens the third cable. For lowering the window, the operation is reversed.

  • Patent number: 4945891
Abstract: An improved driving mechanism for a motor driven retractable down draft vent system of the type having a vent inlet member slidably mounted for vertical movement between a lowered position and a raised position. A first drive member is fixedly connected to a drive motor which drives the first drive member between a first position and a second position corresponding to the lowered and raised positions of the vent member, respectively. A second drive member supported from the movable vent inlet member is disposed in the path of the first drive member. The first drive member abuttingly drivingly engages the second drive member in moving from its first to its second position to positively drive the vent inlet member from its lowered to its raised position. The second drive member is simply driven by the weight of the vent inlet member to follow the first drive member when it returns from its second to its first position to releasably carry the vent inlet member to its lowered position.

  • Patent number: 4939867
Abstract: A power supplying system for supplying power to a self-driving closure device in which a driving source for driving the closure device for opening and closing an opening moves together with the closure device includes a lead wire having one end connected to a power source and the other end connected to the driving source. The side of the lead wire connected to the power source is supported at a midpoint between the positions of the upper and lower limits of movement of the driving source, while the side of the lead wire connected to the driving source is supported in such a manner as to move together with the driving source. The lead wire is thus made to swing in conjunction with the movement of the driving source so as to supply power to the moving driving source. A guide shaft is provided along the direction of movement of the driving source, and a helical portion formed in the lead wire is extended or shrunk along the guide shaft so as to supply power to the moving driving source.

Abstract: A dual drive window regulator mechanism is disclosed for use in an automobile door assembly for raising and lowering the window glass. The system provides two attachment points to the glass for raising and lowering the glass. This can be accomplished by using various lift mechanisms including a translating rack or a dual cable and drum mechanism. By driving the window at two points as opposed to one point in typical regulator mechanisms, more accurate control of the movement and location of the window glass in the door assembly is achievable.
