With Means Mounting Closure For Swinging Patents (Class 49/381)
  • Patent number: 6334277
Abstract: A door assembly for a recreational vehicle has a molded mounting frame and a molded flange. The mounting frame and the door have integral hinge pin lugs. Spring-loaded hinge pins are captured within the hinge pin lugs and allow the door to swing open or close. A latch secures the door assembly in a closed position. The door may be thermally insulated. The hinge pins may be stainless steel. The latch may be a locking mechanism. The door securely conceals the door frame fasteners when the door assembly is in the closed position. One hinge pin may be fixed to one hinge pin lug.

Abstract: A tailgate for preventing cattle from backing up while in a guide chute is described. The tail gate comprises a tube, angle brackets and a gate section. The angle brackets are arranged to be fitted into the tube such that the angle brackets can be attached to horizontal or vertical surfaces. The gate section is arranged to pivot about the tube from one side of the tube only so that cattle may pass freely from one side of the tail gate but are prevented from passing from the opposite side. As a result of this arrangement, cattle contacting the gate from the opposite side of the tail gate will reflexively remain in place. This in turn prevents the cattle from backing up and speeds up the flow of cattle through the chute. The tail gate is arranged to be fitted into chutes of various widths at any point along the chute fitting and the height of the gate section can be varied for use with animals of different sizes.

This produces a rounded pleasing cover stop which masks the hinge from the exterior. Also, it inhibits the door from opening at an angle more than 90.degree. from the closed position, which with the pneumatic closer and safety chain produces a three-way redundant system to resist the door blowing off its mount or hinge. • Patent number: 5421124
Abstract: A vehicle door wedge is provided including in a preferred embodiment a bracket having opposing ears, the bracket being connected to a door; a threaded shaft rotatably mounted by the ears of the bracket, the shaft having a head and being threadably engaged with the bracket ear generally least adjacent to the head of the shaft, the head of the shaft having a gap with the ear of the bracket to which it is most adjacent; and an elastomeric eccentrically mounted bumper mounted on the shaft. The bumper has a hardened member embedded therein and is rotated by the shaft to contact a door opening, preventing rattling of the door in the opening. The bumper is held in position by continuous rotation of the shaft causing the gap between the shaft head and the most adjacent bracket ear to be closed and for the bracket ears to elastically deform to capture the bumper until such time as the bracket ears are restrained from further deformation by resistance provided by the hardened member within the bumper.

  • Patent number: 5413317
Abstract: A damper for controlling the movement of a first member with respect to a second member including an arcuate surface on one of the members which engages the outer peripheral rim of an annular damping member rotatably mounted to the other member. The annular damping member preferably is made of a compressible material, and in one embodiment is made of an open-celled urethane foam. The annular damping member is mounted on an axle positioned to locate the annular damping member in compressible engagement with the arcuate surface such that the arcuate surface engages the outer peripheral rim of the annular damping member as the two members move with respect to one another to provide a controlled damping action for the first member peripheral rim engaging the arcuate surface with a predetermined force to provide a controlled resistance force to the movement of the door.

  • Patent number: 5355625
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a wood-cased glass door assembly in which a glass door that may be opened is composed of a glazing, and wooden stiles and rails, which are fitted on an outer peripheral edge of the glazing. The wood-cased glass door is mounted for opening and closing into a wooden doorcase fixed in an opening in a wall. Thermally expanding materials are separately installed in spaces defined between an inner peripheral portion of the wooden doorcase and outer peripheral portions of the wooden stiles and rails and between inner peripheral portions of the wooden stiles and rails and the outer peripheral edge of the glazing over the entire length in the longitudinal directions of the spaces. The expanding materials foam and expand under heat to block the respective spaces. Metal fittings for holding the glazing by putting the inner and outer surfaces of the outer peripheral edge of the glazing therebetween are fixed to the wooden stiles and rails.

  • Patent number: 5238264
Abstract: The door assembly for an air bag opening includes a door having a rigid substrate panel extending across the opening and carrying a decorative trim to normally conceal the air bag opening. A primary hinge acts between an edge of the rigid substrate panel and the vehicle to enable opening movement of the door about an axis defined by the primary hinge means. The rigid substrate panel has a weakened portion extending across the panel in parallel spaced relation from the primary hinge axis to enable folding of the door by the deploying air bag about a secondary hinge axis defined by the weakened portion. The primary hinge means is preferably a hinge panel of rigid but bendable metal construction which extends into engagement along the underside of the rigid substrate panel into proximity with the weakened portion thereof so that the rigid hinge panel reinforces the portion of the door underlaid by the hinge strap.

  • Patent number: 5199218
Abstract: A hinge for mounting a wooden gate to a wooden fence post. This hinge features a protected pivot point so as to minimize deterioration of the pivot point by weathering, lips that coact with the fence post so as to counter act gate sagging over time and thus maintain the gate in a square orientation and a design that limits the gate opening or swing to one direction only. The hinge is comprised of a non-moving stirrup member mounted in a notch cut into the fence post and a moving stirrup member that is attached to the gate. The pivot pin of the hinge is mounted within a notch in the fence post so that it is protected from the elements. The notch in the fence post also supports the non-moving stirrup member of the hinge so as to minimize gate sagging. The simplicity of the hinge design provides a gate hinge that is inexpensive to manufacture and simple to assemble and install.
