  • Patent number: 8834335
Abstract: A plastic or other film bag is formed from a continuous extruded tube. The tube is flattened and sealed across its width at intervals to form bag bottoms. The bags are joined to one another at a perforation line and folded in thirds lengthwise prior to being rolled into a compact roll, either with or without supporting core. After folding the bags may be chisel cut through the center of the perforation line to assist in dispensing of the bags. The chisel cut will extend through all layers of the bag when folded, resulting in three chisel cuts in the bag. The bags may be gusseted for part or as much as all of their width. The bags may also be corona treated and printed on their outer surfaces. The bags may be formed from partially recycled materials and various combinations of linear low density, medium and high density polyethylene.

Abstract: Method of producing a packaging pouch includes the steps of forming a tube on a rotary machine by longitudinally rolling at least one band of flexible material, dividing the tube into lengths and forming the bottom of each pouch to form a compartment. The step of forming the bottom includes paying out and driving and feeding into the forming tube at least one other band, simultaneously dividing the tube into lengths and the other band into segments, causing the front part of the tube to become staggered relative to the front part of the other band or the lengths to become staggered relative to the segments, and finally forming the bottom of each pouch by folding each length transversely.

Abstract: A plastic bag with a removable coupon section and a method for forming plastic bags with removable coupon sections is presented. The bag comprises a bag portion and a coupon portion. The coupon portion comprises two flaps. Each flap representing at least one coupon. The coupons are separable from the bag portion due to perforations. Where multiple coupons are contained on the same flap, the coupons may be separated from one another due to perforations. The flaps are either not joined to one another due to notching of the plastic film from which they are formed or are separable due to welded perforations. This enables the coupons the be individually removed without disturbing other coupons. In the method for making the plastic bags with a removable coupon section, a roll of plastic film is folded over onto itself and welded together. The initial weld forms the bottom of the bag portion. The coupon portion may be perforated to assist in the separation of the coupon from the bag portion.

Abstract: A method for installing a closure in the mouth of a pre-made flexible bag. The closure may, for example, be a shrouded plastic zipper with or without a slider. The bag may, for example, have side gussets. In the disclosed embodiment, the bag is made using a laminated material comprising an interior layer of thermoplastic material and a non-interior layer of non-thermoplastic material, such as paper. The package is made by a method comprising the following steps: method for providing a bag with a closure, comprising the following steps: (a) slitting the bag along first and second lines so that a top marginal portion of one wall of the bag disposed between the first and second lines forms a flap; (b) folding back the flap to uncover a topmost portion of the other wall; (c) joining one side of a closure to at least a portion of the topmost portion of the other wall uncovered by step (b); and (d) joining a portion of the flap to the other side of the closure after steps (a)-(c) have been performed.

Abstract: A sheet of material is provided that is pre-folded and pre-glued for the wrapping and packaging of flower bunches and flower bouquets. The sheet of material contains a plurality of lines scored therein. The scored lines are arranged to create a pre-defined folding sequence that forms the desired floral packaging or wrapping. Visual indicia arranged to illustrate the pre-defined folding sequence and markings arranged to compliment the folded shape of the sheet are also provided. A fastening means is provided to secure the folded packaging. The sheet of material is made by scoring the sheet in particular places to mark the fold lines and to facilitate easy and consistent folding. The sheet is then folded across the scored lines and secured.

Abstract: In a process for making prefastened and refastenable garments, a discrete article is transported in a primary direction of movement. The discrete article can define a leading half comprising first fastening components, a trailing half comprising second fastening components releasably engageable with the first fastening components, and an interconnecting region disposed between and interconnecting the leading and trailing halves. The leading half can be temporarily diverted from the primary direction of movement, while continuing to transport the interconnecting region and the trailing half in the primary direction. After reestablishing movement of the leading half in the primary direction, the leading half can contact a contoured surface, such as a contoured plate or roll. The contact can cause the first fastening components to be transversely displaced toward one another, whereupon the first and second fastening components can be engaged.

Abstract: The invention concerns a rotary type bag manufacturing machine which feeds continuously material paper (R) to form angulated bottom bags (B) with handles (T) in which a top edge (S2) with the handles (T) pasted can be folded toward an inside in the manufacturing process. Material paper (R) wound in a roll is continuously fed out. After forming lateral slits (15) and Letter-J-shaped nicks (16) on the material paper (R) by an incising device (4), reinforcing papers (T1) for handles (T) formed by a handle forming device 2 are pasted. Then, a cutting device (6) cuts off the material paper (R) on a cut line aligned with the lateral slits (15) to thereby form the material paper (R) with the handles (T) which remains unfolded in a plane. A cut end portion (S2) with each handle (T) pasted is folded toward an inside to invisibly cover each reinforcing paper (T1) for the handle (T). Thereafter, angulated bottom paper bags (B) are formed through a paper tube forming process and a bottom folding process.
