  • Patent number: 7922641
Abstract: The machine for producing tubes includes a winding spindle around which strips of weblike material are wound to form the tube, which is made to advance along the spindle; a device for supply and winding of the strips around the spindle, and at least one knife for cutting lengths of the tube being formed. The knife is provided with a reciprocating movement parallel to the spindle. There is moreover envisaged a counter-knife within the tube being formed, provided with a movement of translation synchronized to the movement of translation of the knife. The counter-knife is magnetically constrained to a mover member, which transmits the motion to the counter-knife.

  • Patent number: 5882287
Abstract: A device for manufacturing a multilayered tube formed of paper webs that are provided with transverse perforations at identical distances, wherein sections of the tube are torn off in order to manufacture paper bags, includes at least one perforating knife that is arranged in the machine frame and fastened to a rotating shaft. The perforating knife provides the paper webs with transverse perforations, and the radial distance between the perforating knife and the shaft may be altered so as to adjust the format of the bags. In addition, the device includes transverse gluing cylinders that are arranged in the machine frame, which are provided with transverse gluing bars and which cooperate with devices for applying glue. Also included is a longitudinal gluing roller that applies glue which forms a longitudinal adhesive seam onto the edges of the paper webs which are laterally offset with respect to one another and guided together via guide rollers before the paper webs are folded into a tube.

  • Patent number: 4778440
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously applying a spiral wrap around successive cylindrical articles, securing the wrap to the cylindrical articles forming a series of wrapped articles, and subsequently severing individual wrapped articles from the wrapped series of same. Cylindrical articles are deposited onto a conveyor belt along which they are fed in proper alignment and in end to end abutting relationship to a wrapping station. At the wrapping station, a covering material, such as paper or the like is spirally applied to the successive rotating cylindrical articles in continuous fashion. Rotary and forwarding motion is supplied by a drive belt acting on previously wrapped articles which motion is imparted to the individual articles at the wrapping station. Subsequent to the wrapping station, the wrap or cover is secured to the cylindrical article by contact heaters, tunnel heaters, adhesive, or the like.

  • Patent number: 4756217
Abstract: A travelling pipe cut-off is described having a pair of knife-edged rollers mounted on a carriage that also supports a cut-off torch. At least one roller is engaged with the smooth surface of the pipe at all times during cut-off, each such roller advancing the carriage while the pipe is being advanced. The two rollers are spaced apart such that, as the bulge of a pipe seam approaches one of the rollers, that roller is moved out of engagement with the pipe, but the other roller remains in engagement. The carriage and cut-off mechanism is, therefore, advanced only by that roller which is engaged with a smooth surface of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4636188
Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for manufacturing cardboard tubes with incorporated closure for packing or sending articles or documents and tubes obtained by implementing this process. The process comprises the continuous formation of a cardboard tube on the rotary mandrel of a spiralling machine and cutting the tube into tube elements discharged by the machine. This cut out is provided in the form of a sinusoid with provision of appropriate fold lines. Thus tube elements are obtained, without waste of material, whose ends have two opposite tongues which may be folded back, the adjacent ends of two successive tube elements being offset by 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4534818
Abstract: An automatic form-and-fill packaging machine especially adapted for the ultrasonic sealing of food products in flexible bags from ultrasonically sealable flexible packaging material, and a method to utilize said machine. A packaging machine is provided with a first ultrasonic back seal forming unit for producing a continuous longitudinal back seal on the bag, and a second ultrasonic sealing unit provided in a pair of jaw members which are adapted to form the end seals of the bag perpendicular to the direction of travel of the packaging material. The second ultrasonic sealing unit is provided with a horn and an anvil in opposing jaw members, such that when the jaws are shut, the flexible packaging material is tensioned against sealing land areas to provide the end seals.

  • Patent number: 4521264
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for formation of tubular segments from a generally continuous tube of material by internally cutting the tube of material. The apparatus of the present invention includes a forming mandrel upon which the tube of material to be cut is carried, and upon which the tube is preferably spirally wound. The apparatus further includes a rotary cutter assembly mounted within the forming mandrel. The cutter assembly includes a cutter arbor and a blade actuating rod, with one or more cutting blades of the cutter assembly operatively associated with the actuating rod and the arbor such that relative axial movement of the actuating rod and the cutter arbor moves the cutting blades inwardly and outwardly of the forming mandrel of the apparatus. A cam mechanism is provided for effecting this desired relative axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4474564
Abstract: In a machine for forming a continuous tube which is then cut up into sections, for example to make containers, a plurality of bands of fibrous, cellulosic, metallic, plastic or other material are drawn from supply reels and pass through a gluing and labelling section where adhesive is applied to one side of the bands and labels are applied to the outer face of the center band. After application of the adhesive and labels, the bands, while continuing to move forwardly, are assembled in superposed relation with the bands laterally displaced relative to one another so that the edges of the assembly of bands are stepped. The bands are pressed together in a narrow central width only so as to bond central portions together while leaving side portions unbonded.

  • Patent number: 4464219
Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and method for cutting and sealing a plastic film. The plastics film is conveyed to a sealing area which contains a sealing wire in a housing over which the plastics film is draped out of contact with the wire. The wire is preheated to a first temperature and is then heated to a second higher temperature while a differential pressure is applied to the film biasing it towards and into contact with the wire which cuts and heat seals it. By providing the heat sealing area in the outer periphery of a rotatable drum to which a continuous film is conveyed, a continuous cutting and heat sealing process can be achieved.
