  • Patent number: 9764525
Abstract: A box gluing device for attaching a glue tab of a box blank to an opposing panel when the box blank is folded so the glue tab is position at an edge of the box blank. The gluing device includes a support structure upon which a gluing apparatus and a support plate are mounted. The gluing apparatus a glue dispensing nozzle for applying glue on one or more surfaces of the box blank. The box blank can be moved through the gluing device to attach the glue tab to the opposing panel. As the box blank moves through the gluing device, a guide rail orients the glue tab in a desired manner while glue is applied to the box blank, and a roller assembly presses the glue tab and the opposing panel together with the glue therebetween. Alternatively, the gluing device can include a clamp arm that holds the box blank in place while glue is applied, and a folding bar that folds the glue tab onto the opposing panel after glue is applied.

Abstract: A small-diameter composite tube may be formed by hand rolling. A slip sheet may be placed on a work surface, and then a composite sheet may be placed on the slip sheet. A mandrel may be placed at a first edge of the composite sheet, and a portion of the slip sheet may be folded over the mandrel, and the first edge of the composite sheet, such that the mandrel is enclosed in the slip sheet. A compression bar may then be placed on the folded-over portion of the slip sheet and force may be applied, causing the slip sheet to contact the mandrel. Then, the folded-over portion of the slip sheet may be pulled away from the mandrel while force is maintained on the compression bar. As the folded-over portion of the slip sheet is pulled, the composite sheet may wind around the mandrel, forming the composite tube.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a gusseted pinch bag from polypropylene. A sheet or seamless tube of polypropylene is provided. The sheet is preferably comprised of one or more layers of axially and/or biaxially oriented polypropylene. Perforation lines in a pinch pattern are formed in the sheet or tube. Preferably a laser forms a series of small, closely spaced holes in the sheet along the perforation line. The laser heats the plastic surrounding the holes, causing the polypropylene molecules between the holes to lose their orientation. Thus, the polypropylene in the perforation line between the holes is substantially weakened. If a sheet is used, it is folded into a gusseted tube and the edges are sealed together to make a tube. If a seamless tube is used, the tube is gusseted. In either case, a lateral force is then applied to the terminal tube, breaking the perforation line and separating the terminal tube from the sheet. The bottom end of the tube is then sealed, thereby forming a bag.

The tool (4) includes a filling pipe (3) and a forming shoulder (2) including a movable first part (7), a movable second part (8), a stationary third part (13) and a channel (18) housing the filling pipe (3). The filling pipe (3) and the channel (18) form a passage gap (27) allowing for passage of the wrapping material (33). The first and second parts (7, 8) are pivotable with respect to one another such that they can be moved into a closed position and into an opened position while approximately moving in a radial direction (29 with respect to the surface of the filling pipe (3) and perpendicular to the tubular wrapping material (33) to prevent clamping or squeezing of the wrapping material (33).

Abstract: A soft shell, flexible storage tank is provided, including corners of an improved configuration adapted to resist leaks. The walls of the tank and the corners are relatively more rounded and larger in radius than those of conventional flexible tanks. The walls and the improved corners act together to resist leaks. The rounded corners tend to reduce the effective pressure in the tank walls by loading the seams predominantly in shearing stress when the tank is filled with a liquid. The rounded corners are developed as panels, which are thermally bonded to produce secure and reliable liquid-tight seams. Each of the panels is bonded by lapped seams to others of the panels. Each of the rounded corners includes a generally triangular corner that is bonded to at least three other panels. In effect, the flexible storage tank functions as a pressure vessel, which tends to resist leakage.

  • Patent number: 7452319
Abstract: An apparatus for producing double-walled composite tubes, which have an outer wall with wave peaks and wave valleys and a smooth inner wall, includes two of rows first and second shaping-jaw halves which, along a common shaping section, form a shaping tunnel. The first shaping-jaw halves are located opposite each other in the shaping section and have an inner contour forming a tube socket portion. The second shaping-jaw halves, also located opposite each other, include transverse grooves alternating with transverse fins. A sizing mandrel, which defines narrow vacuum grooves spaced apart from one another in the axial direction on its outer lateral surface, projects into the shaping tunnel and forms the smooth inner wall of the composite tube. A vacuum control valve device provides for defined closure and reopening of the vacuum grooves when positioned in correspondence with the tube socket portion.

Abstract: A machine for producing a tubular product by helical winding of strips of web material including a mandrel and a winding member to helically wind the strips of web material around the mandrel is disclosed. To improve adhesion between the strips, at least one pressure member is provided, cooperating with the mandrel, disposed downstream or upstream of the winding member with respect to the direction of advance of the tubular product being formed on the mandrel. The pressure exerted by the pressure member promotes adhesion of the strips forming the product.

  • Patent number: 7399264
Abstract: A process for producing high pressure tubing from austenitic stainless steels. The process entails passing a continuous austenitic stainless steel strip through pre-weld rolls enclosed in a forming housing to produce a continuous tubular shape having opposing edges separated by a longitudinal gap. While the gap is maintained with a seam guide and a liquid-free gas mixture of an inert gas and a gaseous flux is directed at the gap and into an interior of the tubular shape, the tubular shape is caused to pass through a high frequency induction coil to cause heating of the opposing edges of the tubular shape. Pressure is then applied to the tubular shape with weld rolls to force the opposing edges together and form a continuous tubing having a continuous butt weld joint. The weld joint is then quenched with an inert gas without the assistance of a liquid coolant.
