  • Patent number: 4594743
Abstract: A portable and collapsible bed includes a generally rectangular tubular frame and an inflatable mattress with the inflatable mattress having a connecting means that has loose flaps extending towards the periphery of the hollow main flexible body with the flaps having connectors on the ends thereof which can be connected to the tubes of the tubular frame. The tubular frame is formed in a plurality of sections that are easily separable and can be collapsed to a small fraction of the overall size of the unit while the air mattress, in a deflated condition, remains supported on the frame. The unit also includes an inflating unit that can be converted to a deflating unit without any extraneous tools.

  • Patent number: 4583252
Abstract: A sponge bath and rinse platform on which the user (patient) lies for cleansing. The device is formed with a peripheral wall (defined by side walls, a head end wall, and a foot end wall) and a central area having a number of specially contoured areas for raising selected portions of the body above a gently sloping grade plane. The lowest region of the central area is located near the foot end wall, and defines a liquid collection area. The contoured areas define supports for the head, upper trunk, lower trunk, arms, and legs. Thus, the device includes a head support, an upper trunk support, a lower trunk support, first and second arm supports, and first and second leg supports.

  • Patent number: 4566445
Abstract: A stretcher for traumatized patients comprises a rigid board having a central core of polyimide foam and a skin of graphite reinforced expoxy; this board is exceptionally radiolucent. The board has built in handles for transporting the patient, straps for holding a patient on the board, and means for applying traction to a patient. The stretcher is designed for transporting the patient and applying a variety of diagnostic tests to the patient, including computer aided tomography scanning, without removing the patient from the stretcher. It also facilitates efforts to make a closed reduction of a cervical fracture with fluoroscopic monitoring.

  • Patent number: 4538750
Abstract: A bed and pack frame is convertible between an elongated bed frame configuration and a nested pack carrying configuration. The frame includes first and second members, each having first and second spaced side rails. Interconnecting members depend from and interconnect the side rails of each of the first and second members into a rigid support structure. The first and second side rails are releasably interconnectable to form a co-planar bed support frame and are separable so as to be re-arranged in a nested pack carrying configuration.

  • Patent number: 4480345
Abstract: An adjustable break-away stretcher having a pair of complimentary frame parts detachably interconnected at each end, the frame parts including a body section and an extensible leg section each mounting aligned patient supporting panels, the extensible leg section having cylindrical tubular frame members telescopically received in polygonal tubular members in the body section, the polygonal frame members having mating polygonal plugs at their ends adapted to be slidably but non-rotatably received in the polygonal tubes so as to prevent the tubular frame members from rotating relative to the body section, the arrangement preventing misalignment between the patient supporting panels of the leg section relative to those of the body section when the frame parts are detached and, where locking pins are used to fix the position of the extensible leg section relative to the body section, misalignment of the locking pins relative to the openings in which they are received is also prevented.

  • Patent number: 4275472
Abstract: A unitary recliner having segregated head, mid-section and foot rest supports a person in a reclining position without imposing any supporting pressure on the persons vertabrae. The three rests are contoured commensurate with the supported body parts to retain inadvertent lateral or longitudinal movement of the person which movement might cause the person to fall off one or another of the rests.

  • Cot
    Patent number: 4234978
Abstract: A light weight, two piece cot comprising first and second rectangular shaped molded members which form a contoured surface for supporting a person when fitted together. Each member has two sides and two ends and an upward facing surface with a ridge formed around said surface along two sides and one end. The first member is elongated having four walls along its two sides and two ends respectively for supporting its upward facing surface and the second member has three walls along its two sides and along said one end respectively for supporting its upward facing surface. The ridge free end of the second member is supportable by the ridge free end of the first member.

  • Patent number: 3999229
Abstract: A double joint assembly for interconnecting three elements of a foldable structure, two elements being capable of pivoting in the same plane so as to be located at a pre-selected angle to the third element, the joint assembly comprising a forked member, a clamping member and a bolt member, each of which members is integral with, or affixable to one of the said elements, the clamping member and the bolt member each having a flat portion which is pivotable about a pivot axis and which is located in an aperture formed in the forked member, each flat portion having a cam surface formed thereon having at least one support surface, that the clamping member abuts against one surface of the forked member when the foldable structure is extended, the cam surface of the bolt member co-operating with the cam surface of the clamping member such that, in use, the clamping member is retained in position relative to the forked member in two directions, the angular position of the bolt member being determined by the angle at

  • Patent number: 3947903
Abstract: There is disclosed an ingenious chair having multiple folding parts including leg portions. The chair has a centrally located portion comprising the seat portion of the chair. U-shaped leg members depend from the ends of the seat portion. Additionally, the ends of the seat portion carrying the leg portions have pivoted therefrom web support means which in effect acts as convenient extensions of the seat portion. The said extensions when folded over the seat portion cover the seat portion which may have placed thereon a plurality of objects. The seat portion having the free ends has extending therefrom additional web material, each of which may be joined together as by a zipper or the like under the seat portion to provide a sling like support means. On the other hand, the two sections of web material may be joined above the top of the seat portion when the two extensions have been folded over the seat. Prior to accomplishing this the seat portion may have placed thereon various articles.
