Abstract: A portable breastfeeding and nursing pillow for a baby includes a base portion in a generally rectangular shape with a contoured side. The base portion further includes a boarder about at least three sides of the base portion and extending a distance above a first feeding surface of the base portion for mitigating problems of the baby rolling off the first feeding surface. The top portion stacked underneath the base portion adds height if needed during the baby nursing time. The top portion also includes a second feeding surface for feeding the baby when additional height of the pillow without the boarder is desired. A strap is joined to the bottom portion for adjustably securing about a person's waist when the pillow is being used for breastfeeding or nursing a baby. The strap is adjustable for resting on a person's shoulder when transporting the pillow. A decorative binding strap holds the top portion to the bottom portion when transporting the pillow.

  • Publication number: 20090188043
Abstract: A graduated set of pillows includes a plurality of three or more pillows. Each pillow is configured for a particular range of human physiological development and has a plurality of critical dimensions targeting proper postural support of persons in such range. For each critical dimension, a first pillow has a minimum dimension and a last pillow has a maximum dimension. The other pillows in the set have distinct dimensions that form graduated increments in the critical dimension over the set from the minimum dimension to the maximum dimension. Specific magnitudes of these critical dimensions may depend on the height, weight, head circumference, length of vertebral column, or neck circumference of an average person within a particular age range, for example. By providing such a graduated transition in each critical dimension, the set of pillows provides proper postural support for the gradually changing anatomical characteristics of developing persons.

A shell encompasses the cushion body. A fabric cover is removably disposed over the shell such that the fabric cover generally conforms to the shell. The fabric cover defines an opening to permit the cover to be placed over the shell, and the fabric covering includes at least one fastener to close the opening once the cover has been placed over the shell.

  • Patent number: 6973691
Abstract: A portable, elongated support pillow that when propped between the chin and lap of the user limits both head and torso movements caused by resting or sleeping while sitting in an upright position. The pillow is a single unit having a top contour, a bottom contour and a center section. The top contour is a crescent shaped headrest that cradles the chin and face, the bottom contour conforms to the top of the user's thigh, and the center section connects the top contour to the bottom contour. The top and bottom sections have a wider width than the center section giving the pillow an hourglass-shape. The support pillow is encased in a cover having sling style pockets, adapted to accommodate a user's arms or a strap.

  • Patent number: 6971128
Abstract: A pillow case or cover converts from a first size to accommodate a pillow with a longer length, such as a king-sized pillow, to a second size to accommodate a pillow with a shorter length, such as a queen-sized pillow. In the larger pillow configuration, a flap adjacent to the open end of the case holds one end of the pillow and a fastener on the flap, such as a button, mates with a hole through the front face of the cover. In a smaller pillow configuration, the flap and a portion of the front and rear faces of the pillow cover are folded and inserted into the interior of the cover, and a different fastener on the rear face of the cover, such as a button, engages a mating fastener, such as a loop, that is appended to the front face of the pillow cover to secure the open end and encase the shortened cover over the smaller pillow. The pillow case or cover may be reversibly converted from the first configuration to the second configuration and back again.

  • Patent number: 6886201
Abstract: A pair of opposing pillows is interconnected by a connecting member to provide an adjustable transverse spacing between the opposing pillows. Each asymmetrical opposing pillow is formed with a sloped portion to provide proper support for the abdomen of a pregnant woman sleeping on her side and an adjacent thick portion to provide proper support for the legs of the pregnant woman. The sloped portion is formed with internal baffles to maintain the sloped configuration. The connecting member is attached to the pillow case for one of the pillows and has loop fastener strips affixed in a transversely spaced manner to permit a detachable connection to a hook strip affixed to the underside of the opposing pillow. The pillow case for the opposing pillow is formed with a reinforced opening therein to permit engagement between the hook and loop fastener strips on the pillow and connecting member, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6839923
Abstract: A method and device that provides an easily repeatable way in which to insert pillows into pillowcases. A flexible relatively thin sheet of material is provided that is sized and configured so as to attain a generally U-shaped configuration for insertion into a pillowcase, thereby creating a three-dimensional cavity through which a pillow can be inserted. The device can then be easily extracted from the pillowcase by merely sliding it out once the pillow is in place.
