Abstract: Ruffled or pleated fabrics have been commonly used as interior design elements many years to accentuate the aesthetic appearance of items such as dust ruffles, bed skirts, draperies, valances, and table skirts. The ruffles or pleats add volume to the design features, increasing their aesthetic appeal. However, due to age and wear, over time the ruffles or pleats lose their volumizing effect. A volumizing slip is provided, composed of a material stiffer than the existing fabric article. Abstract: A versatile dust ruffle includes means for vertically adjusting the position of the dust ruffle on any box spring and bed frame combination. Further, the dust ruffle includes means for adjusting the dust ruffle to fit the perimeter of any size mattress. One or more resilient strips affixed to the dust ruffle and one or more adjustable straps joining ends of the dust ruffle facilitate the unique attributes of the dust ruffle. Importantly, the placement of the dust ruffle is accomplished without having to move or adjust a subject mattress. The one-size-fits-all dust ruffle disclosed herein eliminates the necessity of time-consuming dust ruffle placement which often requires two people. In the past, one person lifts the mattress while the second person positions the dust ruffle. Moreover, the one-size-fits-all also eliminates the necessity of multiple different dust ruffles to accommodate different mattress sizes. In this manner, dust ruffles can be switched from bed to bed without regard of the mattress size.

By inserting the non-slip portion of each side panel and each end panel between the mattress and the box spring, the side and end panels are retained in position so that the remaining non-inserted portion of each of the side and end panels hangs adjacent the box spring and forms a bed skirt thereon. Caps including a non-slip portion may also be inserted between the mattress and the box spring, adjacent edges of the box spring, to hide any gaps between edges of the side and end panels. The bed skirt may also be used with a bed having a mattress placed on a frame, and supported between the mattress and the frame.

  • Patent number: 5966758
Abstract: A dust ruffle assembly for forming dust ruffles using dust ruffle components on one, two, or three sides of a bed while allowing adjustments for height, fullness, bed size, and number of dust ruffle layers. The dust ruffle assembly is positioned between the mattress and box springs of a bed. Dust ruffle components are attached to strips, and the strips are fastened to support members. The device permits adjustment of the dust ruffle height to accommodate bed frames and foundations of different heights. The fullness of a dust ruffle layer is quickly adjusted by adding additional dust ruffle components. The strips and support members accommodate a range of mattress sizes, and the dust ruffle components are interchangeable on beds of different sizes. The support members accommodate multiple strips for forming more than one dust ruffle layer on one, two, or three sides of a bed.

  • Patent number: 5802637
Abstract: An improved dust ruffle or fabric skirt design is provided, which is readily placeable about and removable from a bed or other structures in the home. The skirt comprises an elongated fabric sleeve having a first end and a second end and includes an outer fabric wall and an inner fabric wall. The fabric walls define an elongated passage in which an elongated elastic tape member is received intermediate the two walls. The tape member is elasticized in order to provide, when stretched and in place around a box spring or other structure, an inwardly directed force against the inner fabric wall in order that the skirt or ruffle can be fixed in place on a bedding assembly, a furniture piece, or some other home fixture. The tape member may be removed from the passageway of the fabric sleeve before washing or laundering the skirt or dust ruffle.
