Abstract: The present invention is directed to a detachable commode. The detachable commode may comprise a commode storage bracket, a commode, and a pail. The commode storage bracket may be coupled to the underside of the bed frame of a bed. The commode may be stored under the bed supported by the commode storage bracket. The commode may be removed from the commode storage bracket when needed. The commode may hold the pail such that the commode may be operable as a toilet. The commode may be adapted for a patient to sit on a seat of the commode and while urinating and/or defecating into the pail. As non-limiting examples, the bed may be a hospital bed and the commode storage bracket may be added onto the bed or may be built into the bed.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a walker comprising a portable lift toilet seat. Particularly, the walker is defined by a frame that supports a toilet seat, a cover, and a pair of actuators. The cover provides a privacy feature, hiding the toilet seat from view during normal operation of the walker. When needed, the cover can be lifted or folded away to allow the user to access the toilet seat. The toilet seat can then be lifted and/or lowered by actuators positioned on either side of the walker. In this way, a user can easily be positioned over a toilet to use the bathroom without the need for a caregiver to lift and lower him. The user can also be lifted after they are done using the bathroom to return to a standing position or sitting position.

Abstract: A shower chair assembly for facilitation of foot care includes a framework, which is selectively positionable in a shower enclosure. A seat is engaged to an upper end of the framework for seating of a user. A backrest is hingedly engaged to rear of the framework, proximate to the upper end, so that the backrest is selectively reclinable. The backrest supports a back of the user. A footrest is engaged to and extends from a front of the framework. The footrest is selectively positionable between the upper end and a lower end of the framework and is supports feet of the user to facilitate completion of hygienic and beautification tasks on the feet.

Abstract: Devices for the discharge of bodily waste, in particular for the soiling-free discharge of bodily waste from a person situated on a bed or a seat. A bed's mattress (2) is provided with a slot (4) that may be opened and closed, and which extends continuously through the thickness of the mattress (2). The slot is controllably openable and closable via an actuated mechanism that may be power driven. Hygienic elimination of bodily waste while lying down or sitting may be achieved with little effort.

Abstract: A patient transport apparatus transports a patient over a floor surface. The patient transport apparatus comprises a support structure and support wheels coupled to the support structure. An auxiliary wheel is coupled to the support structure to influence motion of the patient transport apparatus over the floor surface to assist users. An actuator is operatively coupled to the auxiliary wheel and operable to move the auxiliary wheel relative to the support structure from a retracted position to a deployed position. A user interface sensor is operatively connected to the actuator and configured to generate signals responsive to the user touching the user interface. A controller is operatively coupled to the user interface sensor and the actuator to operate the actuator in response to detection of signals.

Abstract: A birthing chair for facilitating labor and delivery of an infant. The birthing chair comprises a seat having a seat base and a detachable seat cushion. The seat base forms an aperture for delivery of an infant therethrough. Leg extensions may be attachable to the seat base for supporting the legs of the mother. The seat base may comprise a joint that opens and moves the seat base and leg extensions laterally and expands the size of the aperture in the seat base. The birthing chair may further comprise a suspension system that enables the mother to operate the chair to adjust her position and height at will. The suspension system allows the mother to move in any direction while seated in the birthing chair and still remain supported in the birthing chair. The suspension system may be adjustable. The birthing chair may further comprise a back, headrest, stirrups and handles.

Abstract: A sanitary toilet seat assembly is improved with a removable tray for capturing fluid and filth transported into the housing by the tubular protective film traveling from the toilet seat on to the take up spool in the housing. The removable tray is configured to be placed between a lower inner surface of a base member and the take-up shaft of the sanitary toilet seat assembly. The base member can include spaced vertical partitions extending from the inner surface of the base member and the removable tray can be positioned between the vertical partitions. The removable tray can include side walls in sliding contact with the vertical partitions. The base member can include a concave rear surface extending from the lower inner surface and the removable tray can include a corresponding shaped rear wall to slidingly engage the concave rear surface. The removable tray can also include a front wall extending from the side walls.

Abstract: A multi-function care bed is disclosed including a flatbed having a plurality of panels foldable between a first configuration in which the plurality of panels are adapted to support a person in a horizontal position, and a second configuration in which the plurality of panels are adapted to form a chair to support the person in a seated position. The multi-function care bed also includes a bed frame configured to support the person on a mattress, the bed frame being movable between a first position in which the bed frame substantially overlies the flatbed, and a second position in which the plurality of panels of the flatbed are exposed so as to allow transfer of the person between the bed frame and the flatbed. The multi-function care bed also includes a body movement system in which a group of arms lift, lower, roll, or massage the person.

Abstract: A gun holder is situated within a box spring beneath a mattress. The mattress itself has an opening therein matching the size of the opening into the gun holder and extending through the mattress. One can then lie on one's bed and near one's arm, reach downward into the box spring or other mattress support, and grab the gun without having to move the majority of one's body from the position in which one was sleeping on the bed.

Abstract: A transfer system includes an air-bearing support with first and second longitudinal sections. A port is provided in flow communication with the first and second longitudinal sections, and configured for inflation of the air-bearing support for transfer of a patient or other body. A selective coupling extends between the first and second longitudinal sections, adapted to attach the first and second sections together for transfer of the body on the air-bearing support, and to at least partially detach the first and second longitudinal sections for separation and removal, e.g., upon deflation of the patient support, after the transfer is accomplished.

Abstract: A system and method for calibrating one or more sensing features for a furniture item detection is provided. More particularly, embodiments relate to determining a first noise state associated with an environment of the furniture item based on a first measured noise received from one or more sensors associated with the furniture item. A first baseline noise level for the furniture item can be generated based on filtering the first noise state associated with the environment of the furniture item. A second noise state associated with the environment of the furniture item can be determined based on a second measured noise received from the one or more sensors associated with the furniture item. A second baseline noise level for the furniture item can be generated based on filtering the second noise state associated with the environment of the furniture item. The first baseline noise level can then be adjusted to the second baseline noise level.

Abstract: Provided is an articulating bench configured to support a user, comprising a longitudinally-extending frame structure pivotably supporting back-supporting and independently-pivotable leg supporting portions. Removable arm supporting portions may be provided that pivot about the back supporting portion. In various example embodiments the articulating bench structure may be foldable for compact storage. Various adjustment mechanisms and methods of use are disclosed.

Abstract: A surgical robotics system with robotic arms is configurable to perform a variety of surgical procedures. The system includes a table, column, base, and robotic arms that are either column-mounted, rail-mounted, or mounted on a separate unit. In a column-mounted configuration, the column includes column rings that translate vertically and rotate about the column. The robotic arms are attached to the column rings. In a rail-mounted configuration, the base includes base rails that translate along the base. The robotic arms are attached to the base rails. In both, the robotic arms move independently from each other and include multiple arm segments. Each arm segment provides an additional degree of freedom to the robotic arm. Thus, the system may position the robotic arms into numerous configurations to access different parts of a patient's body. The surgical bed may include a swivel segment that rotates laterally on the plane of the bed.

Abstract: The lateral back support includes a pair of wedge-shaped pads adjustably connected to one another for positioning on a vehicle seat to support a torso of a user when subjected to lateral forces. An integral bidet, a source of clean water, a nozzle, a variable speed pump and mechanism for connecting a source of water to the bidet are included. A second opening in a lower portion of the toilet is connected to a waste storage tank. An odor eliminator is provided and a remote control allows a patient to control the unit.

Fluid, preferably air, is provided to a first compartment to lift the buttocks of a patient to provide a gap to assist in changing diapers. Second and third compartments below shoulders are useful to inflate and deflate to turn the patient.

Abstract: A pelvic positioning system for positioning a patient's pelvic area for a pelvic or rectal exam featuring a base with an indentation disposed in the front end for providing the physician access to the patient's pelvic region. Two peaks for the patient's thighs are disposed at the front end of the base and are separated by the indentation. An inward curvature is disposed in the top surface of the base between the indentation and the back end of the base. The system functions to position a patient's pelvic region comfortably and effectively.

Abstract: A mattress apparatus that combines the functionality of a hospital bed with that of a bedpan is herein disclosed. A bedpan assembly is provided to temporarily replace a slidable mattress section in the middle of the mattress area. In use, a person confined to a bed can use the bedpan without exiting the bed, thereby avoiding undue physical stress. The bedpan is inserted under a buttock area for normal use using an integrated track system, and slid out being coincidentally replaced by the slidable mattress section, to return the bed to its original condition. The bedpan can be removed, emptied, and cleaned by the care-giver without disturbing the patient.

Abstract: A medical bed has developed, comprising a lifting unit extended to the lower body unit with an insertion unit mounted on an elastic spring for applying pressure to a lifting member, a water collection unit positioned at inner room of the bed frame forming sloped bottom surface, an angle adjustment unit installed at the bed frame for angular movement of the bed frame, a plural of the loess bed units, a separation preventing unit for preventing separation of the loess bed unit and a support plate for supporting the loess bed unit. The body unit extends the lower head unit and guides vertical movement of the loess bed. The lifting member installed on a fastening bar for controlling the lifting unit. The elastic spring is arranged inside of the lifting member, and an inlet-outlet for injecting and discharging pneumatic and hydraulic pressure formed at the upper lifting member.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to a fluid disposal apparatus and system. In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a fluid disposal apparatus comprises a liquid collection device, a perforated support layer disposed above the liquid collection device, a spacer layer disposed above the perforated support layer comprising a plurality of substantially nonabsorbent members, and a perforated comfort layer disposed above the spacer layer.

Abstract: According to at least one embodiment, an apparatus for continuous collection of human waste products is disclosed. The apparatus may include a bed frame, a lower plate having a container coupled thereto, an upper plate having an aperture defined therein, a mattress having an aperture defined therein, a mattress cover having an aperture defined therein and an absorbent pad having a bag coupled thereto. The apparatus may allow for continuous collection of human waste products while maintaining the patient in a comfortable position. The apparatus may further facilitate preventing human waste products from contacting the skin of the patient, thereby substantially reducing the occurrence of pressure ulcers. Additionally, the apparatus may reduce the need for the use of Foley catheters for incontinence management, thereby reducing the occurrence of urinary tract infections related to such use.
