It relates to a cylinder lubricant having a BN determined according to the standard ASTM D-2896 greater than or equal to 40 milligrams of potash per gram of lubricant, comprising a lubricant base stock for marine engines and at least one overbased detergent based on alkali metals or alkaline-earth metals, characterized in that it also contains a quantity of 0.01% to 10% preferably 0.1% to 2% by weight relative to the total weight of the lubricant, of one or more (A) compounds chosen from the primary, secondary or tertiary monoalcohols the alkyl or alkylene chain of which is saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched and comprises at least 12 carbon atoms.
