Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaning composition containing at least one first surfactant selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, partially esterified ethoxylated glycerol surfactants, and alkyl polyglucoside surfactants and mixtures thereof and a second surfactant selected from the group consisting of sulfonamide, hydroxy sulfobetaine, betaines, amine oxides, glucoamides, N-C.sub.1-3 alkyl C.sub.8 -C.sub.16 alkyl glucoamide, and C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 N-alkyl aldoamide and mixtures thereof and water.

The composition generally includes a carboxylated polymer that has been neutralized with an alphahydroxy amine. The composition can be used, for example, to disperse and suspend inorganic salts, such as silicates and sulfates, in fluids for inhibiting the insoluble inorganic matter from agglomerating and forming deposits on surfaces in contact with the fluid. The present invention is particularly suitable for use in industrial water handling systems such as boilers, coolers, and the like in other various industrial applications where inorganic salts form scale in a vessel in which an aqueous liquid is handled.

Abstract: Limescale removing compositions are disclosed which comprises a C1-C6 linear or branched alkyl sulfonic acid or mixtures thereof. Said alkyl sulfonic acids are particularly efficient in removing limescale and they are furthermore stable to bleach/oxidants. Therefore, compositions can be formulated which further comprise acid-stable oxidant compounds. Also, mixtures of alkyl sulfonic acids and sulfamic acid are particularly effective in removing limescale. The compositions of the invention are used to remove limescale from a variety of surfaces.
Abstract: Limescale removing compositions contain a low level of surfactant, i.e., less than about 1% and maleic acid and have a pH of from about 0.1 to about 4.5. The surfactant can be anionic, nonionic, amphoteric, or cationic, but is preferably cationic. The composition can be used neat, or diluted, by applying it to the surface to be treated, leaving it to react, and then rinsing.
Abstract: The present invention provides water-soluble, extended-release chemical formulations, in tablet form, for urine pretreatment, that require minimal, if any, use of a binder component, yet are non-dusting, pliable, structurally strong, and not weakened by exposure to aqueous streams. The present invention also provides a simple and reliable method for controlled dispensing of such tableted formulations into a liquid stream that is particularly advantageous for use in micro-gravity environments, such as spacecraft urinal systems.

Abstract: A process for chemical cleaning of metal components having an iron oxide deposit upon a layer of compounds having a high silica content. The dissolving compound is selected from the group consisting of insertion compounds for inserting OH or F ions in the Si(OH).sub.4 and OH-containing organic compounds. The insertion compounds including electrophilic groups and are selected from the group consisting of conjugated unsaturated systems and unsaturated N-oxide compounds. The OH-containing organic compounds are selected from the group consisting of organic compounds having at least one alcohol function, aromatic amines, soluble salts of tertiary amines, and aromatic amines causing condensation of OH radicals onto silica.
