Patent number: 7776809Abstract: A method and a composition for remediating reticulation equipment such as a bore having biocontamination deposits is disclosed. In its most preferred form, the composition is formed by mixing dry solid oxalic acid, a cupric salt such as copper sulphate, and a solid acidic compound such as sodium bisulphate. Proportions of 94%, 2% and 4% respectively are suitable, while avoiding toxicity and contamination problems. After thorough mixing this mixture can be stored in a dry sealed container for future use. In use, the reticulation equipment is dosed with from 3 kg to 7 kg of mixture per hundred litres of water contained within the reticulation equipment.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2006Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Inventor: David Bennett

Patent number: 6440917Abstract: Problems of extensive foaming and/or of sticky deposits on process equipment that often arise when metal soaps from metal articles that have been given a metal soap containing surface to aid in drawing are removed with aqueous alkaline clearners can be avoided by including in the cleaners used anions such as calcium and magnesium that are capable of precipitating the anions of the metal soaps. The cleaners advantageously also contain chelants, a mixture of nonionic and anionic surfactants, and phosphorus containing anions. Anions from the metal soaps are eventually precipitated from the cleaners used as non-sticky sludge that can be easily separated from the cleaners.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: Henkel CorporationInventors: Richard J. Patent number: 5932024Abstract: Glass surfaces having titanium, stainless steel and/or other metals metallized thereon are denuded or reconditioned for a repeat of the initial metallization by contacting the initially metallized surface with an aqueous mixture of one or more strong mineral acids and various of the transition metal salts containing cerium, vanadium, niobium, praseodymium, zirconium, or hafnium, with the optional inclusion of a surfactant to effect removal of the titanium, stainless steel, or whatever metals that are present in or involved in the coating. Oxidation can usually be entirely completed within minutes at modest temperatures of about 20 to about 90 degrees Celsius. The resultants are then water washed, and flushed or scrubbed from the glass surface which can then be processed the same as new glass for repeating metallization with titanium or other metals.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1997Date of Patent: August 3, 1999Inventor: Jesse C.
