The flange (26) provides a ramped edge tapered substantially uniformly over a distance of between 10 and 20 times the maximum thickness of the flange (26). The outermost part of the flange (26) is typically formed from a flexible polymeric material. A rib (20) extends around an aperture in the frame (10) and the height of the rib (20) is lower than the load bearing surface of the floor. The hinge (24, 120) is generally square and defines a pivot surface which extends parallel to and is spaced inwardly from an inner edge of the frame (10).

Abstract: Two-piece sump cover plate, without water inlet, enables easy installation over the sump container. This two-piece cover plate also enables easy access to the interior of the sump container for servicing of the sump pump, replacement of the sump pump, or other necessary purposes without disassembly of the sump pump discharge conduit. This cover plate has two openings, one accommodates the discharge conduit of the sump pump and the other accommodates the pipe of the battery back up sump pump. The cover plate can have the option Of having only one opening that only accommodates the discharge conduit from the sump pump when battery back up sump pump is not used.

Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the height and inclination of roadway and greenway appurtenances includes a rigid annular spacer ring sized so as to be mountable onto a manhole, and a manhole riser mountable onto the spacer ring. The riser substantially frusto-conically shaped. A rigid annular base flange may be mounted around a base end of the riser. A plurality of threaded bores are formed in spaced array around the base flange. Rigid elongate threaded members are threadably mountable into the threaded bores so as to be selectively threadably adjustable in the threaded bores and so as to protrude downwardly from the base flange into engagement, beneath the riser, with a top surface of the spacer ring when the riser is mounted on the spacer ring. The threaded members are threadably adjustable in the threaded bores to elevate or to tilt the riser relative to the spacer ring.

  • Patent number: 6799921
Abstract: The present invention provides a manhole cover/frame exchange method capable of minimizing the size of a portion to be mended, of eliminating a pressing step by a roller machine, of eliminating/reducing steps and a required mending time and of suppressing vibrations, noises and the like during the exchanging process. The manhole cover/frame exchange method comprises steps of: cutting a portion of a paved road around the manhole cover/frame spherically; removing the spherically cut portion; filling a self-curing highly fluid non-shrink filler into a spherical hollow space formed by the removing step, and filling a surface layer material over the self-curing highly fluid non-shrink filler. Thus, the pressing step by the roller machine is eliminated by the present invention.

Abstract: A locking lid and method for a valve box. The locking lid has a closure and surrounding external seal, which fit into the valve box opening and close/seal it. The locking mechanism of the locking lid preferably consists of an actuator spindle that extends through the closure, and that is received in an actuator follower positioned therebelow. The actual follower is in pivotal engagement with a plurality of locking pawls, such that turning of the actuator spindle causes movement of the actuator follower and thus pivoting of the locking pawls—moving the locking pawls into a locked or unlocked position relative to a lid seat within the valve box.

  • Patent number: 6743360
Abstract: A debris-catching system for preventing debris from falling into the pipe opening at the bottom of a manhole catch basin. The debris-catcher comprises two semi-circular halves hinged together such that the two halves may be folded and inserted into a manhole opening. The debris-catcher comprises aligned apertures that allow it to be hooked and lowered into a manhole. The two halves are opened up to form a circular blocker which sets on the manhole bottom flat base. The debris-catcher allows normal effluent flow through the manhole while in place. The debris-catcher floats and will do so during an overflow condition. Further, the debris-catcher will resume its protective function after an overflow condition has subsided.
