Abstract: A structure of a combinative interlocking board containing vertical and horizontal pipes is disclosed. The piping within the board divides the board into a middle region and two side regions, and the middle region is a piping passage for conduits and the piping connectors, and is provided with an actuating opening, the two side regions is conduits for screws in vertical and horizontal direction. The four corners of the board are provided with opening for the mounting of an interlocking plate allowing screws to pass through so as to lock the boards with each other. The decorative panels mounted to the board can be replaced.

Abstract: A freestanding partition panel for dividing a floor space includes a rigid partition frame having vertical side frame members and first and second horizontal frame members extending between the vertical side frame members to form a vertically enlarged opening through the frame, and an open space within the panel. At least one intermediate horizontal cross member extends across the vertically enlarged opening and defines upper and lower openings through the frame. The intermediate cross member and at least a selected one of the first and second horizontal frame members include a plurality of horizontally spaced apart attachment locations defining a plurality of discrete, serially adjacent mounting spaces. The partition panel further includes a utility unit that is mountable in a selected one of the mounting spaces.

Abstract: A space dividing system includes a column and a series of partition panels adapted for interconnection with the column. The column includes an internal passage, and is adapted to receive wiring from a building for supplying power to a receptacle arrangement interconnected with the column. Adjacent panels are connected to the column at spaced locations, and the receptacle arrangement is exposed between the adjacent panels. The column includes a structural skeleton to which the receptacle arrangement is mounted, and a series of covers are releasably engaged with the structural skeleton for finishing the aesthetic appearance of the column. An adjustable height mounting arrangement is interconnected with the upper end of the column for connection to a ceiling to stabilize the upper end of the column. Each panel is in the form of a frame defining an opening within which a core is received.

Abstract: A clip for retaining a cover to a partition frame member of the type having openings on opposite side faces. The clip includes an elongated flexible member having a U-shape defining a base portion and a pair of arms extending therefrom. Each arm includes an end portion extending inwardly, and having a shape that permits reception of the end portions in openings of a partition frame member to thereby retain the clip on the partition frame in an orientation wherein the base portion is spaced-apart from the partition frame member to permit vertical routing of utility lines along the partition frame member and through the clip.

Abstract: A prefabricated system for outfitting a building space includes an architectural product (such as a full-height permanent building wall, a post-and-beam product with overhead frame, and a drywall-covered wall), a furniture product (such as a partial-height wall, a partition, and a desking system), and a plurality of accessories. The architectural product includes a structural member with horizontal and vertical accessory-mounting T-slots, and the furniture product includes structural trim pieces with identical vertical and horizontal accessory-mounting T-slots. The plurality of accessories are constructed to stably engage any of the accessory-mounting slots at a selected location along the slots. Some accessories can be attached to and extend between the two products, such as an accessory screen that extends between a post of a post-and-beam system and an end of a partition system.

Abstract: Office forming equipment includes a partition panel partitioning a residence space of an office and is constructed such that a pair of spaces separated from each other with the partition panel have such a mutual relation that the visibility of one of the spaces from the other through the erected planar member varies with varying view angle with respect to an erected surface of the erected planar member. This construction makes it possible to enhance the efficiency of an organization of a knowledge-intensive type markedly.

Abstract: A removable tube within each junction box interconnecting conduit pipes thereby providing a travel-smooth path for fish tapes through a junction box. Each guide tube has a ring near each end providing an insertion limit into a conduit. Each tube has a perforated score line along its length for easy removal after wire installation.

Abstract: The multiple channel duct assembly for cables includes a plurality of plastic inner ducts (10) contiguous, co-directionally extending, substantially parallel, and in abutting contact with each other. Each of the inner ducts (10) has a cross sectional area sufficient to contain at least one cable. A plastic outer duct (20) encircles the inner ducts over their entire length to retain them in their contiguous relationship. The outer duct (20) has a corrugated tubular section including a plurality of contiguous ridges (21) and troughs (22) extending over their entire length. The assembly is sufficiently flexible that it can be coiled around transportable reels as well as sufficiently strong that it can withstand dirt in a trench.

Abstract: A raceway system is disclosed. The raceway system includes a base cap mountable to a top surface of an office furniture panel, at least one horizontal raceway section positionable adjacent the base cap, at least one corner raceway section positionable adjacent the base cap, and a cover securable to the base cap. The base cap has at least one aperture for wiring to pass therethrough. The corner raceway section has a channel extending axially therethrough, and the corner raceway section allows the wiring to pass vertically through the aperture and the channel.

Abstract: An adjustable mid-panel spillover fitting is disclosed. The fitting includes a base, a cover securable to the base, and a cover cap securable to the base and the cover. The base has a spillover side, and the cover has an opening on a side wall thereof for receiving the spillover side. The cover has a shelf extending toward the side wall, and the cover cap has a groove for receiving the shelf therein. The cover cap includes at least one latch on an inside surface thereof for securing the cover cap to the base in a plurality of predetermined positions, and the cover cap is adjustable between the plurality of predetermined positions.

Abstract: A wall structure includes at least two studs that are designed to support panels front and back, and end caps or raceway channel defining members on the leading and trailing edges of the panel wall structure. Each of the studs includes sets of oppositely arranged flanges that in turn cooperate with marginal edges of both the panels and the raceway defining members. Cross bracing is provided to allow wiring either within the enclosed space between the panels, or more preferably in the wireways defined in the raceway members so that the power and data communication conductors can be isolated from one another. The feature of the panel structure is that the panels themselves can support light fixtures or other lightweight electrical devices, and heavier electrical devices or units can be accommodated from the cross bracing or from shelves secured to the cross bracing and to the studs.

Abstract: A straddle bin for an office furniture system with walls comprised of modular partitions. The straddle bin provides two adjacent compartments extending through an office partition with one compartment open to a first side of the partition only and the other compartment open to a second side of the partition only, and with sliding doors on each side of the partition to close the compartment opening on that side and when open, to lie over a blind, closed rear end of the adjacent compartment. The straddle bin provides private compartments for users on both sides of the partition.

Abstract: A wire harness 10 includes sharable housings Ha to Hg which enable insertion of terminals either insulation displacement terminals Ta and crimp terminals Tb; a first sub-harness formed by inserting the insulation displacement terminals Ta into the sharable housings Ha to Hg; a second sub-harness 10b formed in the same manner as the first sub-harness 10a; and an after-insertion electric wire WR having the crimp terminals Tb crimped at both ends. The crimp terminals Tb of the after-insertion electric wire WR is inserted into a sharable housing H, thereby connecting the sub-harnesses 10a and 10b. The crimp terminals Tb are used for only terminal hardware to be connected to the after-insertion electric wire WR which requires adhesion strength between an electric wire and terminal hardware. The majority of remaining terminal hardware pieces are embodied as the insulation displacement terminals Ta.

Abstract: The trunking accessory makes up trunking including two or more juxtaposed lengths with different heights each including a base section with two parallel lateral flanges. The accessory includes two or more cheeks adapted to be attached to the lateral flanges, and each cheek includes members for mounting a length of cover section that extend along a line with two or more opposite curves to establish continuity between members for mounting a length of cover section situated at two different heights.

Abstract: An electrical wiring channel is installed beneath a wallboard, and includes a wiring channel member, a wiring faceplate, and a baseboard. The electrical wiring channel can be retrofit into existing buildings, by removing existing molding, and removing a portion of the wallboard below level of the molding to leave a gap or recess within which the wiring channel member can be inserted. The wiring channel member is C-shaped and has a female fastener member with a bore therein for receiving a male fastener member of the wiring faceplate. A new baseboard can be adhered to the wiring faceplate. Additional variations can include a right-angled channel portion for use with interior wall corners, exterior wall corners, or with door frames.

Abstract: A modular wall panel assembly, including a modular wall panel and an electrical distribution harness connected to the modular wall panel. The electrical distribution harness includes an electrical connector, at least one channel extending from and electrically connected with the electrical connector, an electrical receptacle connected to the electrical connector and at least one receptacle mounting bracket. The receptacle mounting bracket includes a cutout at least partially surrounding the electrical receptacle. The receptacle mounting bracket has at least one attachment element connected to at least one of the modular wall panel and at least one channel.

Abstract: A partition includes a partition frame having a face and a cavity behind the face, and a covering attached to the partition frame that aesthetically covers the face. The covering includes an access slit through which the cavity can be accessed, and is sufficiently flexible so that the slit can be opened to access the cavity. A pouch can be attached to the covering material along the slit, so that a purse-like pouch is created for holding personal items and/or excess electrical wiring. A zipper or closure device can be used on the access slit. In one form, the skin is releasably attached with hook-and-loop material, so that a corner of the skin can be pulled loose for accessing the cavity.

Abstract: A support beam and a support frame for an office furniture system which can be used to mount and support a variety of furniture system components and electrical and communication equipment. The support beam has an elongate, hollow lower beam section with a top panel and vertical side panels. An elongate upper beam rail having a top extends parallel to and spaced-apart from the lower beam section. This rail has a plurality of post-receiving holes formed in its top for mounting other components such as a support wall. Spaced apart posts rigidly connect the beam rail to the lower beam section. Rail connecting devices are provided at opposite ends of the beam rail for rigidly connecting it to an adjacent end of another beam rail or to the support frame. The support frame has a horizontal metal beam and two elongate, hollow end frame sections extending downwardly from opposite ends of the beam. A raceway is rigidly mounted on a lower portion of this beam and extends downwardly therefrom.

Abstract: The present invention is a partition system having improved vibration dampening characteristics. The partition system includes a frame having elongated support posts and a plurality of tiles being mounted to the posts via a plurality of mounting elements. Each tile has opposite first and second sides, opposite top and bottom edges, and opposite side edges. The mounting elements each have a body portion and a finger portion. The body portion is adapted and configured to releasbly mount to the post and the finger portion is configured to extend away from the post when the body portion is mounted to the post. The tiles have a pair of hook members mounted to the first side of the tile. The hook members are adapted and configured to hook onto the finger portion of the mounting elements. The tiles also have a pair of resilient clip members which are adapted and configured to releasably attach to the finger portion of the mounting elements.

Abstract: A partition system includes an internally-open partition frame having permanent and removable frame members forming multiple vertical and horizontal wireways, with both lay-in and feed-through wire routing. Utility support brackets are attachable for good wire management. The partition frame supports a wide variety of customizable and functional surface components, including a markerboard wall surface, a slatwall, a colored/covered wall surface, a wall surface including utility outlets, a transparent window. The partition frame includes continuous horizontal and vertical rows of slots that flexibly and adjustably support furniture accessories, such as a worksurface, at selected heights and locations along the partition system. Covers are provided that maintain a very high-quality appearance with uniform lines and gaps. Some covers include adjustable edge-mounted light seals for eliminating light leaks and unsightly areas.

Abstract: A utility panel system is provided for open office spaces, and the like. Each utility panel has a relatively thick, skeleton-like frame, with a foot and opposite sides shaped for interconnection with like panel frames to create a substantially freestanding utility panel system. Cover panels are detachably connected to the opposite faces of each panel frame to enclose the same, and provide ready access to the panel interior. Horizontal utility troughs extend continuously between the opposite sides of each panel frame in a vertically stacked relationship. The utility troughs have open ends located at the opposite panel sides, and are positioned such that when adjacent utility panels are interconnected in a side-by-side relationship, the utility troughs are aligned to form multiple raceways. Panel connectors are provided to connect the utility panels with one or more of a variety of existing partition panels, such that the utility panels act as a spine which supplies utilities to the existing partition panels.

Abstract: An information display system is disclosed. A work environment providing a work area and a workstation including the information display system are also disclosed. The information display system includes a track system adapted to attach to a mounting structure and a plurality of display panels coupled to the track system for movement with respect to the mounting structure. The display panels are adapted to present information selectively for display by pivotal and translating movement of the plurality of display panels. The track system may include at least one rail. The display panels may be cantilevered away from the track system at a vertical elevation to provide clearance below the display panels for a seated worker. The information display system may include a plurality of containers coupled to the track system for movement with respect to the mounting structure, with each of the plurality of containers is adapted to include at least one display panel.

Abstract: A raceway section forms part of a raceway system for routing, protecting and enclosing cabling, and includes a base member, which may be U-shaped, and two split covers independently removably attached to side walls of the base member, such as by a hook and buckle attachment system. The base member defines a cable receiving channel and a longitudinally extending top opening. The split covers each have a laterally extending cover portion, an outside edge portion, and an inside edge portion, wherein the split covers each cover a portion of the longitudinally extending top opening such that a substantial amount of the top opening is covered. The inside edge portions are juxtaposed to form a longitudinally extending slot sufficiently wide to allow the removal or insertion of a cable through the slot without removal of the split covers. For insertion or removal of larger cables or bundles, one or both split covers can be removed.

Abstract: A privacy door assembly providing a sliding privacy door and supporting panel for selectively closing an entryway in an existing workspace panel system. The support panel includes a front face, top edge, side edge, and bezel opposite the side edge. The support panel attached facewise to a system panel of the workspace panel system form an enclosure for slideably supporting and concealingly receiving the privacy door. The support panel further includes adjustable floor glides for leveling and supporting the weight of the support panel and the attached privacy door. The privacy door may include a recessed pull handle for pulling the door from its concealed position and extending it across the opening to be closed or a spring loaded plunger for propelling the door slightly from the concealed position. A receiving post may be located adjacent to an additional component of the workspace panel system across the opening from the support panel.

Abstract: A modular medical gas services unit with multiple medical gas outlets supported at the same level on the column. The unit preferably comprises a hollow column with an internal space for housing the gas conduits and power lines. The medical gas supply outlets are mounted so that their longitudinal axes extend radially from the vertical axis of the frame, and the longitudinal axes of adjacent outlets intersect to form an acute angle. In this way, the horizontal dimensions of the column can be minimized while the number of medical gas outlets at the desired height is maximized. In one embodiment, the column is pentagonal in cross-section providing five planar support surfaces for five medical gas outlets. In another embodiment, a square column is equipped with angled outlet panels, each supporting two medical gas outlets. Thus, though the frame is four-sided, as many as eight medical gas outlets can be mounted at the same height on the frame.

Abstract: A surface raceway mounting bracket is described which is used to secure an electrical fixture to the surface raceway. The mounting bracket is supported by the surface raceway and it is configured with at least one latch extending from the back surface of the mounting bracket. Each such latch is configured to engage and latch onto the base component of the surface raceway. A perimeter portion of this mounting bracket is designed to overlay a portion of the cover of this surface raceway.

The housing includes a lock plate which defines thereon projections which wedgingly engage within correspondingly located openings in the support element. Tabs are provided on the support element which are deformed during assembly so as to engage the respective projections and prevent disengagement of the glide assembly from the support element.

Abstract: This invention relates to a space-dividing wall panel system which includes components which are compatible with various types of wall panels and furniture components therefor. These components include a connector bracket having multiple inserts for supporting furniture components thereon, and an interface assembly also is provided which is compatible with various wall panel systems. A spiral cable manager also is provided for supporting cabling within the wall panels.

Abstract: The frame attachment system of the present invention is a unitary-bodied frame attachment member being selectively and removably attachable to a display frame member for attaching shelving brackets, and attachments of the like. The present invention essentially includes three portions: a bracing portion, a grasping portion, and a slot portion. The grasping portion is substantially u-shaped for attachment around a display frame member with the bracing portion being in perpendicular opposition to the grasping portion. The slot portion is proximate the bracing portion and includes a plurality of slots capable of receiving shelving brackets such that the insertion of a shelving bracket results in the bracket flushly resting against the frame member and thus limiting movement of the frame attachment member.

Abstract: A furniture system is particularly adapted to support group activities in open plans, and the like. A plurality of columns support an overhead framework on the floor of a building in a freestanding fashion at a predetermined elevation, generally above average user height. A plurality of individual panels are provided, wherein each panel is constructed to permit easy, manual, bodily translation of the same by an adult user. A hanger arrangement is associated with the overhead framework, and cooperates with connectors on the panels to detachably suspend the panels at various locations along the overhead framework. The panels are manually reconfigurable between many different arrangements to efficiently and effectively support different group activities. Preferably, the panels are capable of providing a partitioning function to visually divide at least a portion of the workspace, and/or a display function to facilitate group communications.

Abstract: A bracket for supporting an electrical junction box within a wall frame. The bracket has a junction box support portion adapted to be connectable to the electrical junction box and a cable support portion extending from the junction box support portion. The cable support portion has a cable securing portion that receives and automatically secures the electrical cables in the cable support portion, thereby fixing the electrical cables a desired distance from the junction box.

Abstract: A panel for use in partitioning a space includes a panel body as a major component, the panel body having latticework that allows interior equipment to engage the panel body at a position in a homogeneous portion of the panel body. With this panel, it is possible to secure places for installation of interior equipment in an office or the like effectively.

Abstract: A corner connector arrangement which joins adjacent upright edges of at least two wall panels for maintaining the panels in angled relationship. The connector arrangement employs a connector post positioned between adjacent panel end edges. Each panel has a connecting bracket provided with outwardly protruding upper and lower flanges which respectively overlap upper and lower ends of the post. The post has suitable openings so that cabling can pass from interiorly of one panel through the post for passage into the interior of another panel. Elongate closure strips are secured to and extend longitudinally along opposite edges of the bracket associated with each panel. The closure strips have cantilevered flanges which are curved similar to and resiliently deflect into engagement with exterior peripheral surfaces on the post to enclose the post and the cabling therein. A separate closer strip that snaps onto the post may be used to enclose the post for two-panel connections.

Abstract: A display board which comprises a thin panel member adapted to be supported on an office wall partition to closely overlie a cover of a partition. The display board is preferably coupled to an internal frame of the partition by a mounting bracket which extends laterally inwardly over the top of a cover into engagement with the internal frame. With an inner surface of the display board lying on an outerface of the cover coupling to the framework to merely provide for support against vertical downward movement of the display board can be sufficient. Mounting separate brackets which extend from the framework outwardly above a cover are advantageously provided for ease of connection.

Abstract: The invention is a special baseboard that looks like any ordinary baseboard, yet is simple to install and has an added benefit of having a removable front panel. Once removed the invention will give access to the built-in cable tray to which cables can be retained and housed when the front part is replaced. One of the unique benefits of this invention is that no surrounding decor will be damaged by the correct removal and replacement of the front panel.

The molding portion has a rear surface, and the molding engaging element has inner and outer surfaces. When the molding portion is mounted to the mounting portion, the inner surfaces of the mounting and molding engaging elements substantially abut one another, and the outer surface of the mounting engaging elements substantially abuts the rear surface of the molding portion.

Abstract: A telecommunications patch panel including a frame member defining a plurality of connector locations, the frame member including front and rear faces, and a first flange extending outwardly from the rear face including at least two tabs. Also included is a cable management member with first and second legs including notch portions and a cable bar coupled to the first and second legs. The notch portions on the cable management member may be engaged within the tabs located on the frame member so as to detachably couple the cable management member to the frame member.

Abstract: A panel includes a panel body as a major component, wherein the panel body is capable of accommodating wiring therein, has a latticework, and is imparted with a function of allowing the wiring to be led out through squares defined by the latticework from a position in a homogeneous portion of the panel body in a direction normal to the panel body. The panel can effectively improve the convenience in installing the wiring in an office or the like.

Abstract: A partition panel includes a rigid panel frame having a lower portion configured to support the partition panel freestanding on a floor surface. The rigid panel frame defines a horizontal upper edge and an intermediate height between the upper edge and the lower portion. A utility trough extends horizontally adjacent the horizontal upper edge, and the utility trough defines a utilities passageway having an upwardly facing elongated opening extending along substantially the entire length of the utility trough and providing access to the utilities passageway. A horizontally repositionable vertically extending utility support member is adapted to support utility lines extending from the utilities passageway of the utility trough to the intermediate height.

Abstract: An external utilities manager is designed for post and beam furniture systems of the type having overhead beams supported on vertical posts. The posts include outwardly protruding flanges which extend along the length of the posts. The external utilities manager includes a vertical raceway having a hollow interior configured to route utilities therealong, and an enclosed exterior disposed between the flanges of an associated post, and extending therealong to an open upper end. A horizontal raceway is positioned adjacent to and extends along the side face of an associated beam, and includes an interior configured to route utilities therealong. One end of the horizontal raceway is positioned adjacent to and communicates with the upper end of the vertical raceway to route utilities throughout the furniture system.

Abstract: A modular raised floor system includes rectangular floor panels, each of which has four hollow projections that define a cross-shaped groove. Each adjacent pair of the panels are locked together by a positioning member, which is disposed in two of the grooves and which is formed with two fixed posts that are inserted into two holes in the pair of the panels. A plurality of long and short cover strips are bolted on L-shaped strip-supporting surfaces of the projections, and are located on a horizontal plane. Each of the long cover strips extends on a row of the floor panels, and has cable holes for passage of cables. Each of the short cover strips extends on one or two floor panels. The long and short cover strips are arranged in a net shape so as to cover entirely the grooves.

Abstract: A wall system and particularly a load-bearing spine wall defined by rigidly connected spine panels which are usable in conjunction with and connectable to branch panels for defining workstations. These spine panels include an interior frame having plural hollow cross beams rigidly joined between parallel uprights. The cross beams have elongate slots extending lengthwise along the sidewalls thereof. Each side of the frame permits one or more removable covering tiles to be attached thereto for defining the exterior surface of the spine panel. Load-bearing components having cantilevered hangers can be engaged within the elongate slots which extend lengthwise of the cross beams. Vertically adjacent tiles have longitudinal edges spaced to define a narrow elongate passage therebetween which aligns with the mouth of a respectively adjacent hanger-accommodating slot.

Abstract: Metallic track members having locking slots designed for receiving and retaining metallic stud members that contain construction aids enable the assembly of metallic frames used in the construction of buildings. A flat metallic strip is converted to a W-shaped metallic track member by a series of stamping, bending and severing steps. U-shaped stud members, manufactured in a similar manner are inserted into the track members and held relatively stable by upper and lower track members. An upper track member can be the same shaped design as the lower member or can be U-shaped with stud retaining means into which the stud members can slip-fit. The process for manufacturing is adaptable for computer aided manufacturing using data from the computer aid design of the building. Manufacturing equipment for the manufacture of the construction members is relatively light-weight and can be transported to the job site.

Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a portable display is formed of a plurality of assembleable panels, each of panels having a plurality of edge portions secured together with corner connectors to form a rectangular framework. Panelar sheet material extends over two side of the framework and polyurethane foam in injected into the interior space. Panel connector portions, either of the sliding type, or the peg or plug-in type secure the panels together to form the display. In a preferred embodiment, each panel has four corners each with corner components that engage with the edge portions, preferably by insertion into receiving openings in said edge portions. Said corner components having a receptacle exposed at each corner to permit either connection with plug-in components, for example, panel connectors for vertical stacking of panels or accessory brackets.

A cover member is configured to enclose at least a portion of the frame. The cover member includes attachment members configured to connect the cover member to the frame. Abstract: Wall constructions and methods for constructing walls. In one embodiment, the wall is constructed from studs that each having a web that has at least one opening therein. The studs are oriented such that the openings in their webs are aligned to permit at least one spacer member to extend therethrough. The spacer members are formed with structure for engaging portions of the webs through which they extend. Retainers are provided on the webs of the studs for retaining the spacer members in position. In another embodiment at least two studs that have webs with openings therethrough are oriented such that the openings are aligned with each other. At least one spacer member is inserted through the aligned openings to engage a portion of each web through which they extend. The spacers are then brought into engagement with retainers on the webs of the studs.
