Patent number: 8511016Abstract: A boxable corner bead for finishing drywall corners that is made from two flanges with a protruding nose section. This bead can be made in regular, bullnose, or flex trim type arrangements. Once the bead is attached to a drywall corner, it can be mudded on both sides of the corner without waiting for the mud on the first side to dry. This is because of the shape of the nose which allows a mud dispensing box to apply mud on one side without getting mud on the nose. The box can then be immediately moved to the other side, where that side can be mudded. The nose itself is prepared to directly receive paint or texture, and hence does not need any mud. A version of the device has a raised trapezoidal, triangular or bull-nose section with a V-groove cut in the back. The bead hinges around the V-groove to match any corner angle. Both sides can be mudded as with the fixed bead. The beads can be used with both interior and exterior corners.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2005Date of Patent: August 20, 2013Inventor: Timothy D. Smythe, Jr.

Patent number: 8146307Abstract: A trim assembly for use in concealing open spaces created by siding materials, wherein the assembly comprises a trim member configured to cover and conceal the terminal edges of the siding while simultaneously creating an expansion channel which allows the siding to expand or contract without causing premature bulging, bowing, splintering, cracking, and the like. The assembly may further comprise an insert wherein the insert is configured to readily engage with the trim member, and where the insert in combination with the trim member creates the look of butted cedar siding. The insert is configured to allow the siding to expand and contract in both a horizontal and a vertical direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2010Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Jain (Americas) Inc.Inventors: Thomas Loper, David Bilodeau

Patent number: 8141308Abstract: A prefabricated corner post (10) and associated method for attachment to an external corner (106) on a building (100). An angled body (12) has adjacent panels (14, 16) that form an inner corner (18) having inner flat surfaces (20, 22) adapted to closely engage the building corner (106), and an outer corner (24) forming an outer flat surface (26) that extends to side edges (28, 30). A nailing flange (32, 34) extends from the inner flat surface of each panel beyond a respective side edge of the outer surface. A trim piece (36) closely conforms to and is slidable vertically along the outer surface between an installation position (38) and a final position (40). Each panel of the body has a through hole (42) from the outer to the inner surface at the final position of the trim piece.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2009Date of Patent: March 27, 2012Inventor: Daniel J. Patent number: 8136316Abstract: A plastic molded wall covering that includes a plurality of one piece plastic molded corner moldings mounted in a vertically stacked array. The corner moldings each have a pair of front panels disposed at an angle to each other and formed with simulated building elements, such as hand laid stone. The corner moldings have respective upper and lower interlock devices and internal support and reinforcing walls extending rearwardly of the front panels in interconnecting relation to the interlock devices. The internal support and reinforcing walls have a curved serpentine configuration with a curved junction line with the respective front panels such that any plastic molded sink mark exposed on a front side of the front panels from the integrally formed internal walls similarly is undulating so as to blend into the simulated building elements and not detract from its natural appearance.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2009Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: Exteria Building Products, LLCInventors: Stefan Helmut Schwarz, Robert Trabue

Patent number: 8122658Abstract: The baseboard has a side with a first contour and an opposite side with a second contour. In order to be able to mount the baseboard in either of two 180°-rotated positions, the baseboard has a longitudinally extending axis of symmetry. The first contour in a first edge region, rotated through 180° about the axis of symmetry, corresponds to the second contour in a second edge region. Moreover, the second contour in the first edge region, rotated through 180° about the axis of symmetry, corresponds to the first contour in the second edge region.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2009Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: Kueberit Profile Systems GmbH & Co. Patent number: 8119913Abstract: A first coupling of a first protector includes a U-shaped inner wall section and a cover. The inner wall section has an inner bottom wall and opposed inner side walls. The cover extends from outer surfaces of the inner bottom wall and opposed inner side walls of the inner wall section to a distal end opening in the first coupling. The cover is open at a distal end. A second coupling of a second protector includes a bottom wall and opposed side walls that are inserted through the distal end opening into a clearance defined between the inner wall section and the cover of the first protector. The first and second couplings of the first and second protectors are connected together so that the second coupling of the second protector is caught between the inner wall and the cover of the first coupling of the first protector.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2007Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Masaaki Sonotsu

Patent number: 8104243Abstract: The present invention provides a projected corner column A1 used for an external corner part of a wall of a building, in which a narrow chamfered part 8 is formed on an apex corner 3 of the projected corner column A1, the narrow chamfered part 8 has a continuous curved surfaces 8a, 8b rather than a flat surface so that, when the projected corner column A1 is exposed to a daytime sunlight, light parts and shade parts similar to light parts S and shade parts D that generate on surface patterned parts of a board piece 1a generate on the chamfered part 8, whereby the chamfered part 8 on the apex corner 3 of the projected corner column A1 becomes less visible as far as possible, and shades similar to the shades (S, D) that generate on the surface patterned parts generate on the chamfered part 8 to give a continuity to the patterns on the left and right board pieces 1a, 1a.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2005Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Nichiha CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Takeshima, Nobuyuki Kobayashi, Hiroshi Tonomura

Publication number: 20110315298Abstract: A wall guard for use around wall corners is disclosed in which the wall guard includes a pair of retainers are flexibly mounted to one another. The retainers are coupled to one another by way of an adhesive tape material that extends over the back sides of the retainers. A cover is secured to the pair of retainers for absorbing impacts from passing traffic to thereby protect the corner of the wall against wear and tear.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2010Publication date: December 29, 2011Inventors: Matthew Bennett, Roger Lehrkamp
