  • Patent number: 10260211
Abstract: A fully recoverable modular steel footing and beam system that allows installation of the rapidly deployable prefabricated folding building system on a wide variety of substrates, including bare earth, existing asphalt, and existing concrete. The substrate may show deviation from level and still be accommodated. The invention also includes three-part folding haunch and ridge braces allowing braces to ship attached to building panels resulting in minimal handling, reduced weights, and ability to install roof and walls separately. Roof weight is reduced and so can be handled with a forklift or telehandler, as the only heavy equipment needed to erect the building. Flashings are insulated, factory cut, and drilled for bolts, in alignable pattern to bolt-receiving rivets installed in the corrugated siding and roofing. Bolts and bolt installation locations are color coded.

Interlocking panels intended for straight sections have the female coupling opposed to the male coupling in a linear alignment. Interlocking panels intended for a corner or change in direction have the hollow panel body bent so that the female coupling is angularly offset from the male coupling.

  • Patent number: 8631618
Abstract: The disclosure describes, in part, apparatuses and methods for installing structures (e.g., foundations, footings, anchors, abutments, etc.) at work sites, such as difficult-access work sites. In some instances, a rotating drill assembly is assembled over a target location in order to excavate a radial array of batter-angled shafts associated with the target location in preparation for the installation of a radial array of micropiles. An operator utilizes the rotating drill in combination with a foundation pile schedule/decision matrix to design and install the radial array of batter-angled micropiles. This disclosure also describes techniques for designing, fabricating and installing structural caps to be coupled to the installed radial array batter angled micropiles. These structural caps are lightweight and, thus, more portable to difficult-access sites where they are coupled to the micropiles forming a foundation for structure to be installed at the difficult-access site.

Abstract: The foundation structure includes a plurality of structural members. A first end of each structural member is coupled to a central shaft. In appropriate soil conditions, the foundation structure is buried in the soil and the soil itself constrains the mass at the base of the foundation and keeps it from moving. The foundation structure is made of structural components comprises a material, including concrete pre-cast concrete, cast-in place concrete, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, pre-tensioned concrete and post-tensioned concrete, for resisting the expected forces transferred from the tower.

Abstract: A system for supporting a foundation mounting part connected to a tower of a wind turbine extending upward from a foundation and coupled to the foundation by the foundation mounting part is described. The system includes a first support block and a second support block. The first support block is positioned adjacent a first portion of the foundation mounting part. The second support block is slidably coupled to the first support block and at least a portion of the second support block is positioned between the first support block and the second support block. The second support block is configured to exert force on the first support block when displaced laterally with respect to a first axis coincident with a longitudinal axis of the tower.

Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and corresponding methodology for providing a base support, such as including concrete, and used such as for a wind-driven generator. Precast concrete cylinders are stacked in place upon a platform that may be partially precast and partially cast in place during assembly and supported, in certain embodiments, by plural concrete legs, the other ends of which are supported on a unitary or subdivided concrete foundation. In other embodiments, the platform may be supported by ribbed concrete panels. The concrete cylinders are glued together using an epoxy and then secured by an internal vertical post tension system extending from the platform to the upper most cylinder. Different types of concrete are used between upper and lower sections of the stacked cylinders. The lower section uses reinforced concrete while the upper section used ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete.

Abstract: A variable-geometry modular structure made of a metallic or plastic alloy, having at least one modular element with variable-geometry, with a honey-comb structure, to be joined to different modular components to obtain different embodiments. The modular element has a series of passages in which vacuum is created when manufacturing, through molding or extrusion, the modular element itself; the above modular element is a structural element and has at the same time insulating characteristics. The external surfaces of the modular element have a series of recesses and ribs, shaped as a dovetail, that allow mutually joining two or more elements. Modular elements can further be butt-joined by using posts arranged next to the passages. The modular element can be joined to a panel which has a substantially smooth or a corrugated external surface, which is used for applying plaster or other finishing elements, such as any type photovoltaic panels or tiles.
