Abstract: A reflective insulation system. The reflective insulation system includes a reflective layer such as aluminum, a layer of fiberglass, and a layer of vapor retarding material. A first side of the layer of fiberglass is bonded to the reflective layer by a deposit of hot melt glue. The second side of the layer of fiberglass is bonded to the layer of vapor retarding material by a second deposit of hot melt glue. The vapor retarding layer may be a plastic material, such as polypropylene or a reflective material, such as aluminum.

  • Patent number: 6443666
Abstract: A reinforced concrete panel is formed by embedding a stretched steel chain link mesh unit within concrete. The panel can be used to form a building or a flood dyke, or an earth reinforcing wall. The earth reinforcing wall is formed by digging a trench in the soil. Vertical posts are positioned in the trench, the posts spaced apart by a distance corresponding to a width of a panel. The panels are lowered between adjacent pairs of posts, and the edges of each panel slide within grooves formed in the posts. Finally, the trench is filled with concrete to encase the panels and posts.

  • Patent number: 6438923
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved casting process of mass producing complete lightweight cementitious house walls. More specifically, the invention relates to the manner in which thin cementitious skins are separately cast on either face of the wall against a sub-assembly of thick panels of insulation material shaped and located in a manner to control the movement of displaced cementitious fluid so that the exposed top and bottom chords of small vertical structural trusses, sandwiched between these the panels of insulation and other perimeter reinforcing members are encased with the least amount of cementitious material. The size and strength of each wall component can be varied to achieve the specific characteristics of the wall. Smooth or textured faces in the casting beds reproduce whatever profiles are of required on the finished walls. Accurate window and door openings are cast in such a manner as to eliminate the need for trim.

Abstract: A masonry wall system is disclosed incorporating a plurality of courses of masonry blocks, each block has vertical and horizontal interlocking structures with mating surfaces (11, 15, 16, 17). The main block, has a stabilizing slot. Metal reinforcement tendons are inserted into these stabilizing holes (14) at predetermined intervals and connected to the wall at the top and bottom. Corner blocks (26) are employed to connect the walls at right angles and are used in alternating configurations to staggered the vertical joints from course to course. This is also done with the main blocks. The predetermined tolerances between the masonry components and the reenforcing tendons permit the wall to have a fluid property. Forces such as settling, hydrostatic pressure and seismic disturbances are then automatically absorbed and systematically distributed across the entire wall. When all of the masonry components reach the end of their tolerance, the wall locks up as a solid interconnected mass.

  • Patent number: 6282853
Abstract: A building block, and a system and method for constructing a building envelope using a plurality of building blocks, roof panels, and trusses. Each building block may be pre-fabricated and stacked upon one another at the construction site. The blocks and roof system may be rigidly coupled together to form a building using a plurality of connecting lines placed through conduits within each building block. The connecting lines are tensioned to couple each building block to an adjacent block, foundation, and roof system of the building. Each building block includes a core which is preferably insulating, and has a pair of opposing surfaces. A plurality of cross struts are placed through the core with ends protruding from each surface. Conduit preferably attaches substantially perpendicular to each cross strut, and preferably substantially parallel to the core surfaces to retain a rigid structural panel formed about the conduit.

  • Patent number: 6244009
Abstract: A masonry wall system is disclosed incorporating a plurality of courses of masonry blocks, each block consisting of interlocking dovetails 12 along with vertical an horizontal mating surfaces (11,15,16,17). The main block, has two stabilizing holes running at a vertical axis through the center. Steel reinforcement rods or square tubes are loosely inserted into these stabilizing holes (14) at predetermined intervals. Comer blocks (26) are employed to connect the walls at right angles and are so used in conjunction with short blocks (28) to staggered the vertical joints from course to course. The predetermined tolerances between the masonry components and the loosely placed rods or tubes permit the wall to have a fluid property. Forces such as settling, hydrostatic pressure and seismic disturbances are then automatically absorbed and systematically distributed across the entire wall. • Patent number: 6185890
Abstract: To improve sound damping in prefabricated building elements having two parallel welded wire mesh mats 1, 2, interconnected by web wires 7, 7′ enclose, therebetween, an insulating body (8) for example of foam plastic. Concrete is then sprayed on both sides over the mesh wires to form inner and outer shells. These concrete shells are interconnected by forming the insulating body with through-holes, which, upon concrete spraying, will form concrete webs or plugs (14, 14′) interconnecting the two shells, thus preventing resonant sound vibrations of the concrete shells. The through-holes (10, 11, 11′) can be molded during manufacture of the insulating body (8) or drilled or stamped therethrough, and may extend at right angles through the major extent of the foam body or obliquely, preferably downwardly and distributed randomly.
