Lapped Panel Sections Patents (Class 52/462)
  • Patent number: 4441283
Abstract: A steeple includes a plurality of inclined, channel-shaped leg members. A plurality of pairs of vertically spaced connecting members extend between and are joined to opposed ones of the leg members to connect the leg members in a rigid frame, with the leg members disposed at the corners of the frame. Outer panel members having a configuration complimentary to the configuration of the frame between adjacent corner leg members are securable to the leg members. Molding members are receivable within the channel-shaped leg members and urge the side edges of the outer panel members around the outer ends of the channel-shaped leg members and into secure engagement with the inner surface of the leg members. A base having a plurality of similar inclined leg members, connecting members, outer panel members and molding members for securing the outer panel members to the leg members is mountable upon the roof of a building and fixedly supports the frame.

  • Patent number: 4423581
Abstract: A panel assembly for the in-situ production of a standing seam roof has panels which, at one end, have a vertically standing hook formed atop a semi-trapezoidal fold, while at an opposite end, a vertically standing hook is formed atop and is part of a substantially trapezoidal fold. The first hook is designed to be simply and securely retained within the second hook through the use of a camming interlocking action and the free edge of the second end is upwardly bent so as to rest against the semi-trapezoidal fold of a like panel joined to said end to form a series of interconnected panels that are mounted to roof purlins by fasteners hidden by the standing seam. In a roof requiring plural parallel series of panels, upper and lower clamping bars are provided to form a tight, leak-proof lap joint between the adjacent panel series in a manner avoiding the need for the use of exposed fasteners which must extend through exposed roof portions.

  • Patent number: 4322924
Abstract: An elongate roof ridge capping member for a tiled roof includes a pair of longitudinally extending flanges interconnected by a capping section. The capping section is connected to at least one of the flanges by a re-entrant portion, being so connected to both flanges in the case of a member for a duo-pitch roof. The re-entrant portion defines a longitudinally extending recess which can receive the end of a roof tile. The flange in the recess is provided with a longitudinal ridge or the like which inter-engages with the nib of the tile to hold it in position. Filler units may be used to provide weathering of tiles with profiled upper surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4168596
Abstract: A plurality of identical metal roof panels are secured to the roof purlins by spaced metal clips. Each roof panel, which may be installed without regard to end-to-end orientation in its own plane, includes deformable tabs extending outwardly of its side edges. Adjacent roof panels are interlocked with each other by interengagement of the tabs in response to positioning of the panels in place. The clips which secure the roof panels to the purlins are also provided with deformable tabs arranged to interengage with the tabs of the roof panels thereby to hold the roof panels in place even prior to bending of the tabs. The tabs are bent downwardly and a sealing strip is fitted over the bent tabs to weatherproof the seam. The roof is constructed using these panels by proceeding from one end of the building to the other in a single pass.

  • Patent number: 4078351
Abstract: A construction system is disclosed utilizing a prefabricated plank which can be assembled in contiguous, aligned relationship with other similar planks to form a construction section. The individual planks are of varying geometric shapes and are of a composite construction having a structural core with a flexible membrane covering. The core may be formed from foamed plastic, concrete or the like and the membrane a flexible plastic or light gauge metal. The membrane covering includes an edge flap portion adapted to overlie the marginal edge of the next adjacent plank to provide a continuous weatherproof seal between planks. The flaps are sealable by flexible fasteners carried on the membrane flap and marginal portion in the form of interlocking rib and groove elements.

  • Patent number: 4069626
Abstract: A steeple adapted to be mounted to the roof of a church or comparable structure. The steeple comprises a rigid frame that is fabricated from a plurality of inclined leg members that are attached to one another by a plurality of connecting members. The rigid frame is enclosed within an aluminum housing having a contour that is complementary to the shape of the frame and received over the frame in such a manner that the housing is drawn tightly against the frame to insure its strength and rigidity. The steeple may have application for supporting apparatus in an elevated position, such as wind-driven turbines and the like.
