Patent number: 6041557Abstract: The four metal panel portions of an air conditioning unit roof curb have spaced sets of inwardly projecting lanced portions positioned adjacent their ends and defining tab-receiving slots. With the panel portions in a rectangular assembly orientation, specially designed drive cleats are used to lock the contiguous ends of the panel portions together at the corners of the curb. Each cleat has spaced pairs of tabs which, when the cleat is downwardly driven into place on a corner section of the curb, sequentially enter vertically successive pairs of slots in the contiguous panel end portions at the corner. In this manner, only one tab pair and one slot pair need to be aligned with one another before the cleat is driven into place to lock the two contiguous panel end portions to one another, the initial tab pair/slot pair alignment serving to automatically align the successive tab and slot pairs as the cleat is driven home.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1998Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: Rheem Manufacturing CompanyInventors: J. The pitch pocket is initially an elongated piecepart which is arranged with slits on a horizontal wall and notches on the vertical wall aligned with the slits, thereby making it feasible to use light hand pressure to bend creases in the vertical wall to obtain the folded pitch pocket. A slot and tab cooperatively arranged interlock the vertical wall to fixedly hold the folded shape of the pitch pocket.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1994Date of Patent: February 25, 1997Inventors: Dennis E. Patent number: 5564233Abstract: A decorative siding structure for buildings. A series of dentil blocks is formed as a unitary one-piece dentil member. The dentil member is slidably engageable within a three-sided containment channel which is configured for secure attachment to a building. The scope of the invention also includes a frieze structure being integrally formed with the containment channel such that when the channel is securely attached to a building, the frieze extends upwardly and forwardly from the building so as to conceal a portion of a side of the building.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1994Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: Aluma-Crown, Inc.Inventor: Ted Norton

Patent number: 5519969Abstract: A removable roof flashing cover system for use on structures which are faced with siding, such as aluminum or vinyl siding. By use of this invention, the space between the terminal edge of the siding and roof line can be compensated for during the initial installation or at a subsequent point in time. This invention is particularly useful in compensating for spaces or gaps which may occur in the roof line as a result of reroofing. The composite assembly consists of a channel, a wall bracket, and a removable face panel. The channel and the wall bracket are secured to a vertical building surface. The removable face panel is secured between the channel and wall bracket. When the system of this invention is utilized, a building which is covered with siding can be easily reflashed during a reroofing operation. It is preferred that the channel be J-shaped.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1993Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Inventor: Thomas R. Golba

Patent number: 5511918Abstract: A nail for securing two materials together spaced by an interposed resilient material. The nail has a shaft having a first end and a second end. The nail has a head extending radially around the shaft at the first end. The second end of the shaft has a point. A sleeve has generally a cylindrical shape and a pair of ends. The sleeve has a cylindrical center portion and a pair of frusto-conical tapered portions. Each of the frusto-conical tapered portions extends from the center portion to one of the ends forming a cutting edge. The sleeve surrounds the shaft and has a length in excess of the thickness of the resilient material and less than the length of the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1994Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Inventor: Martin J.
