Patent number: 4449335Abstract: A roof framing system consisting of an apex bracket and two bracket assemblies, each bracket assembly consisting of a rafter bracket and sill plate bracket. The apex bracket has two U-shaped sections joined by a bendable intermediate section. The U-shaped sections grasp the upper end of a pair of opposing rafters, while the bendable section accommodates the desired pitch of the roof. The rafter bracket has a U-shaped section for grasping the lower end of a rafter bracket and has two arms separated by a distance sufficient to allow a rafter to be disposed therebetween. The sill plate bracket has a right-angled section for mounting a top sill plate and has two arms separated by a distance sufficient to allow a rafter to be disposed therebetween. The sill plate bracket's arms receive and support the rafter bracket's arms, thereby allowing opposing rafters to be mounted at their lower end and subsequently to be rotated towards the apex of the roof for joining by the apex bracket.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1982Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Inventor: Patrick Fahey

Patent number: 4449338Abstract: An integral clamp and screw in the shape of an L has a panel supporting leg and a leg from which a screw projects through and beyond the panel supporting leg. The clamp is used to support a building panel while aligning said panel over the framing members to which it is to be attached and while fastening the panel to said members. The screw is turned into a framing member, such as a ceiling joist or wall stud, by turning the clamp by hand until the panel support leg is close enough to hold the panel loosely against the member, putting the panel into place and then turning the clamp further until the supporting leg holds the panel tightly against the framing member.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1982Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Assignee: United States Gypsum CompanyInventor: James E. Patent number: 4425747Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for insulating a covered patio by supporting insulation upon ceiling panels depending from clamps engaged in the apices of a twin-vee roof. The roof engaging elements of the clamp include a diagonal face plate with a gripping extended edge and a set screw threadedly engaged through said diagonal face plate. These elements are disposed so that the gripping edge of the diagonal plate and the leading edge of the set screw engage opposite vertical faces of the receiving slot at an apex of a roofing panel. The head of the set screw is accessible when the clamp is in place and tightening the set screw secures the clamp to the roofing panels and lodges the clamp in place by establishing sufficient force to the opposing walls adjacent the closed top of the slot. The depending end of the clamp carries mean of connection with the ceiling panels and this connection establishes the cavity into which the insulation is placed.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1981Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Assignee: Howmet Aluminum Corp.Inventor: Wayne H. Patent number: 3964227Abstract: There is herein provided anchoring apparatuses, systems and methods for wall systems employing an inner wythe and outer wythe construction. The inner wythe is fabricated of block construction while the outer wythe may take the form of block or stone construction. An elongated substantially longitudinal member is positionally disposed in fixed relationship between the inner and outer wythes and is positionally secured with respect to said inner wythe by means of a plurality of members interconnected between said inner wythe and said elongated member. A wall-tie element has the outer end thereof secured to said elongated longitudinal member and the inner end thereof is secured to said outer wythe, thereby securing said inner wythe to said outer wythe. The wall-tie element is initially adjustable by movement along said elongated longitudinal member to facilitate the positional disposition of said wall-tie element with respect to said elongated longitudinal member.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1974Date of Patent: June 22, 1976Assignee: Hohmann & Barnard, Inc.Inventor: Alfred A. Patent number: 3964226Abstract: An adjustable wall-tie reinforcing system for use in conjunction with the construction of wall systems having an inner wythe and an outer wythe, and comprising a reinforcing wall-tie assembly including a pair of spaced parallel reinforcing members disposed within said inner wythe and a plurality of predeterminably spaced laterally extending members. The laterally extending members have the inner ends thereof secured to one of said parallel reinforcing rods and the outer ends thereof disposed in the space between said wythes. The system also includes a wall-tie element comprising a longitudinal rod which has a plurality of predeterminably spaced lateral rods whose inner ends are secured to said longitudinal rod. The wall-tie element is secured in said outer wythe with the outer ends of said spaced lateral rods being disposed in the space between said wythes.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1974Date of Patent: June 22, 1976Assignee: Hohmann & Barnard, Inc.Inventors: Alfred A. Patent number: 3958382Abstract: An anchor for interconnecting two relatively movable components of a structure, comprising two anchoring elements which are hingedly connected with one another through the agency of a connection element serving as a compensation component, the two anchoring elements in the traction direction bearing against fixed stops of the connection element. The anchoring elements are held at the stops by means of a support device. When the anchor is not under load the anchoring elements are aligned coaxially relative to one another by means of an aligning device.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1974Date of Patent: May 25, 1976Assignee: Keller AG ZiegeleienInventor: Hans Walt

Patent number: 3950904Abstract: Two U-shaped clamps which are adapted to be fastened to spaced-apart mounting channels on the rear of a shutter are joined together by a pliable spacer strip which extends between the clamps and spaces them a predetermined distance apart to match the distance between the spaced channels. The spacer strip enables the clamps to be attached to a building wall in position to support the shutter without the necessity of measuring the distance between the clamps. The pliability of the spacer strip enables the clamps and the attached spacer strip to be conveniently carried in a pocket prior to installation. The spacer strip preferably extends beyond the side edge of the clamps to serve as a gauge to locate the shutter a selected distance from the window frame side.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1974Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: Benson Mfg.
