Abstract: A tile-setting lippage control system and method for tiles set with mortar as floors or walls on prepared surfaces, providing tab-and-wedge pairs with a footed tab having a footplate, a wedge slot having a membrane, a multi-tapered descending portion having a thicker center, tapering base, and tapering sides, and a ridged upper portion having a reinforced upper edge, and with a tensioning wedge having a leading end, wedge bottom, tapered top edge, and wedge teeth. In use, the wedge bottom and the footplate apply a constant compressive force to two adjacent pieces of tile. The size, shape, and location of the wedge slot with the tapered top edge of the tensioning wedge accommodate a range of tile thicknesses by insertion of the tensioning wedge to different depths. Optionally, flap cuts in the ridged upper portion provide for formation of a top flap and side flaps which lock in engagement with the wedge teeth of the tensioning wedge.

Abstract: A leveling clip and tile leveling device for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the leveling clip includes a body defining an opening that is configured to accept a wedge device thereat. Tapered legs extend from the body and join a base at a base to body coupling. The base extends to a front and a rear of the body. The base to body coupling includes a frangible breakaway section that is integral prior to frangible separation and the frangible breakaway section, upon breaking, frangibly separates the body from the base. The leveling clip may be used with the wedge device to install two, three, or four tiles.

Abstract: A wedge levelling system for aligning surface coverings includes a tab with a substantially flat base and a vertical member extending away from a central area of the top surface of the base. The base includes beveled feet portions on opposite sides for insertion under lower surfaces of adjacent surface coverings, with the vertical member extending between the tiles. The vertical member is attached to the base with frangible leg. The vertical member includes an opening spaced so as to be above two adjacent tiles. When a wedge is inserted and held in the opening and presses down, the tiles are pushed downwardly toward a surface upon which they are being laid to properly align the edges thereof until the tiles are set, the wedge removed and the vertical member broken off at the frangible leg portions.

Abstract: A spacing plate for tile lippage control has a base plate and at least one spacing member extending perpendicularly from an upper surface thereof. At least one spacing member comprises a pair of parallel elongate spacer walls defining parallel outer facing spacing control faces and the elongate spacer walls are spaced apart to define an elongate gap therebetween. As such, the spacing members may flexibly slightly to account for slight horizontal misalignments. Furthermore, edges of the baseplate may comprise cutouts dividing the baseplate into independently flexing leaves which can flexibly engage under individual tiles to account for slight vertical misalignments.

The tool may also include two shoulder or wing portions which engage and overlap portions of the first and second tile sections and which thereby prevent the plurality of teeth from penetrating farther than a certain distance into the gap. The gap may be formed by gluing the first tile section and the second tile section to the floor or subfloor surface with a first glue. The method may further include gluing the plurality of decorative pieces, with a second glue, inside the gap, and then peeling off the rigid film from the plurality of decorative pieces.

When the screw is inserted through a hole defined in the spacer and screwed until a first surface of the spacer frictionally contacts an exposed surface of the tile, the spacer will secure the tile and prevent a ceiling tile from falling until an adhesive dries.

The tile spacing device includes an elongated rectangular spacer made of wood, plastic or synthetic material that serves as a bridge instrument that is utilized as a tile spacing device in between rows of tiles to keep the tiles aligned in a straight orientation. The elongated rectangular spacer distributes the tiles' weight evenly as a wall is being tiled. The elongated rectangular spacer is approximately 5 feet long, 1 inch wide and ¼ inch high. The elongated rectangular spacer can be made of hard plastic material or recycled hard plastic material and is reusable.
