Resins based on the fluorinated monomers and prepolymers with diluent comonomers, were photocured as composites with particulate fillers. Fluorine contents of the prepolymers ranged from 15 to 65%. Composites with high transverse strength (up to 120 MPa), low water sorption (as low as 0.11 mass %) and extremely low polymerization shrinkage (as low as 3.4% by volume) were obtained. The fluorinated resins may be employed to produce hydrophobic dental composite materials with high strength and low polymerization shrinkage.

    Abstract: The invention relates to compositions which undergo cationic curing with visible light, comprising:(a) 0.01 to 8 wt. % of at least one diaryliodonium compound,(b) 0.01 to 8 wt. % of at least one .alpha.-dicarbonyl compound,(c) 10.0 to 99.9 wt. % of at least one compound containing epoxide groups and/or oxetane groups,(d) 0 to 85 wt. % of modifiers, such as fillers, dyestuffs, pigments, flow improvers, thixotropic agents, polymeric thickeners, additives having an oxidizing action, stabilizers and retardants, characterized in that they additionally comprise(e) 0.001 to 5 wt. % of at least one aromatic amine.The compositions have a low intrinsic color, cure with little smell and, after curing, give compositions with very good mechanical properties.

    Abstract: Opaquely pigmented or thick filmed powder coatings for heat sensitive substrates, such as wood, wood composites, for example, medium density fiber board, and plastics, that can be fully cured, especially near the substrate, through the incorporation of a dual cure system in the powder comprising a thermal initiator, such as a peroxide, along with a UV initiator. The UV initiator cures the surface, while the thermal initiator cures at the substrate. Surprisingly, virtually no pregelation occurs during the heated melt and flow out step prior to UV curing. Consequently, the hardened film finish formed on the surface exhibits exceptional smoothness which is comparable to that of traditional UV curable powders. The hardened film finish is also fully cured throughout and exhibits exceptional adhesion to the substrate which cannot be achieved with traditional UV curable powders that have been pigmented.

    Abstract: The photo-curable liquid solder resist ink composition of the present invention mainly comprises a photo-polymerizable resin having sufficient molecular weight and (meth)acryloyl groups which are imparted by both of introduction of (meth)acryloyl groups into a novolak-type epoxy resin having 4 or more of benzene nuclei and polymerization using a chain-extension agent. The composition is useful for a photo-curable type resist, since it can produce a coated film excellent in tack free characteristic and resolution, and can produce a cured film excellent in heat resistance, adhesiveness, and chemical resistance. In addition, by reacting with an acid anhydride, development with alkalis becomes possible.

The composition of the invention may also include a second epoxy functional resin, a flexibilizer, and other adjuvants. Other aspects of the invention include the cured resin encapsulant and a method of recovering the resin from a circuit assembly.

And, this protecting layer applied to the surface of a molded article is cured by active energy ray irradiation. Therefore, a molded article excellent in abrasion resistance and chemical resistance can be obtained, and cracking is not caused in the curved part of the molded article. Further, since the protecting layer is cured in part by heat in sheet material production, a large scale active energy ray irradiation apparatus is not required in active energy ray irradiation to realize low cost.

The lateral extension of an upper area of the body is less than the lateral extension of the depression at the vertical position of the upper area of the body when mounted into the depression, over the longitudinal extension of the depression which results in a gap between the upper area including the paintable surface, and the depression.
