Kaolin Or Bentonite Patents (Class 524/447)
  • Patent number: 8026307
Abstract: A two component reactive composition is described. Each component, before they are mixed together, contains a filler having thin platelet structure, e.g. a nanoclay, and a further filler that interacts with the platelets. The individual components can have a filler loading that makes them flowable and therefore the components can readily be mixed together for ready dispensing. When the components are mixed thoroughly together, the resulting resin may have a viscosity higher than that of the individual components. The loading of the filler is preferably chosen so that the resulting blended resin is capable of being applied on to a vertical surface without experiencing significant slump. The viscosity of the mixed material can be up to 5 to 10 times or more than that of the individual components before mixing. The composition can be used in adhesives, modelling pastes, coatings, sealants, putties, mastics, stopping compounds, caulking materials, encapsulants and surface coatings, e.g. paints.

Such preparation relies upon phase mixing of EPDM based rubber compositions which contain particulate reinforcement, such as for example precipitated silica, which may optionally include exfoliated clay reinforcement, to create an enhanced EPDM rubber composition. In one aspect, the invention relates to a pneumatic rubber tire with a visible outer sidewall rubber layer comprised of such rubber composition.

Abstract: Compositions including composites of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and nanoparticles are disclosed. A wood-polymer composite using the PVC-nanoparticle composite as a matrix also is disclosed. The nanoparticle filler is dispersed throughout the PVC matrix by blending the nanoparticles with a mixture of PVC particles that have been pre-heated to a temperature at or above a fusion point of the PVC, thereby fusing the PVC particles prior to the addition of the nanoparticles to the matrix. Also disclosed are methods of forming the composite compositions. The composite compositions can be used to replace wood boards.

Abstract: Filled polyamide molding materials, in particular polyamide molding materials with medium filler content, are producible from a polyamide blend and for example by compounding with chopped or endless fibers on two-screw extruders, and have a combination of reduced water absorption and good mechanical properties, which results in very good dimensional stability and reduced variation of the electrical properties of the produced molded part, such as an antenna housings of stationary or mobile communication devices. These thermoplastic polyamide molding materials are suitable for manufacturing molded parts and other semi-finished or finished parts, for example by extrusion, injection molding, pressing, direct process or direct compounding, respectively, wherein the compounded polyamide molding material is directly processed by injection molding or other shaping methods.
