Polymer Derived From Polycarboxylic Acid Or Anhydride And Polyhydroxy Compound Is Derived From At Least Two Polyhydroxy Compounds Patents (Class 525/41)
Abstract: Phosphonopolyester oligomers are prepared from hydroxyalkylated 2,2',-bis(3-allylphenyl-4-hydroxy) alkanes and phosphonyl dihalides. The oligomers are useful in the preparation of polyester resins, epoxy resins, and polyurethanes.
Abstract: Polyesters containing co-condensed polyalkylene glycol residues as the sole air-drying components are, providing they satisfy certain requirements, an excellent basis for photopolymerizable unsaturated polyester resins which harden under UV-light very rapidly even in extremely thin layers.

Abstract: Novel peroxyketals having the general formula ##STR1## are provided, wherein R.sup.1 represents a tert. alkyl group having 4-12 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 represents a branched or a non-branched alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group having 5-12 carbon atoms. The peroxyketals can be used to advantage for initiating the copolymerization reaction of ethylenically unsaturated compounds such as unsaturated polyester resins containing both an unsaturated polyester and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer such as styrene.

Abstract: An unsaturated polyester suitable as a binder which comprises a reaction product of(A) an acid component comprising one or a mixture of .alpha.,.beta.-mono-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids or polycarboxylic acids free from polymerizable carbon-carbon multiple bonds or functional derivatives thereof,(B) a polyhydric alcohol,(C) a polycyclic compound containing a norbornane ring system and having one or more identical substituents selected from carboxyl, hydroxy and amino groups, and(D) an acrylic compound which is capable of condensing with at least one of components (A) to (C), i.e. a hydroxyalkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid having up to 3 carbon atoms in the hydroxyalkyl groups, or -alkylol-acryl- or methacrylamides containing up to 4 carbon atoms in the alkylol group or mixtures thereof and a process of their preparation.

Abstract: A process for preparing a cured copolyetherester elastomeric composition comprising following steps I and II:Step I: melt-extruding an uncured linear copolyetherester elastomeric composition of [A] and [B] to follow:[A] a linear copolyetherester elastomer composed of(A-1) a hard segment consisting of(i) an acid component of which at least 70 mol % is an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and(ii) a diol component having an average molecular weight of up to 350 and(A-2) a soft segment consisting of(iii) a polyalkylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 5,000 in an amount of from 10 to 80% by weight based on the elastomer [A]; and[B] a compound having an unsaturated aliphatic moiety other than unsaturated conjugated moieties, said compound [B] being copolymerized or blended with said elastomer [A], wherein said unsaturated aliphatic moiety is chemically inert at the melt-extruding temperature, the amount of said moiety being 0.001 to 0.
Abstract: Polyester resins are formed by the reaction of alcohols having a hydroxyl functionality of at least one and an allyloxy functionality of at least one, provided the total hydroxyl and allyloxy functionalities are at least three, with saturated dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides. The polyester resins are combined with vinyl monomers to form low temperature cure coating compositions.
