Rotary Winding Patents (Class 53/118)
  • Patent number: 6718726
Abstract: An apparatus and method for winding strings of pocketed coils onto a spool. The coil spooling apparatus includes a feed mechanism and a spooler. The feed mechanism includes buffer rollers and an adjustable hollow feed arm. The feed arm terminates adjacent to the spooler. The spooler includes a spool with a horizontally or vertically oriented spool core, a drive mechanism, and a turntable base with a pallet. The drive mechanism powers the rotation of the spool core. The rotation of the spooler winds the string of pocketed coils received from the feed mechanism. The feed mechanism buffers the tension and directs the string of pocketed coils along the horizontal and vertical axis. After the desired size of wound package is reached, the rotation of the spooler ceases. The completed wound package can then be lifted while attached to the spool through the use of a fork lift. The vertical spools can be stored and transported in a vertical position since the core base is flat.

Abstract: The device consists of a mechanism to place netwrap over the edge of a cylindrical bale that is created in a variable/fixed baling chamber of an agricultural round baler. The invention consists of a netwrap delivery system having of a pair of arms pivotally affixed to the outside of the baling chamber sidewalls. Also attached to the arms is an assembly frame. An actuator controls the pivoting motion of the delivery system inserting the netwrap between the stationary dimple roll and the pivot roll of the sledge assembly. Positioned outside the sidewall and between the outer frame member is a transition area. The netwrap is inserted between the stationary dimple roll and the pivot roll as well as into the transition area. Because the width of the delivery assembly is wider than that of the cylindrical bale, a portion of the netwrap is inserted over the edge by use of the transition area.

A pivotably supported endless belt segment (24) can be moved out of a refuse compressing position into a discharge position in such a way that the compressed round bale can be discharged from the compressing chamber (10) via this endless belt segment (24).

Abstract: A tucking bar for directing sheet material between a drive roller and a mandrel of a roll-up machine comprises an elongated member having opposing ends that are supported by an arm. The arm is adapted to pivot about an axis that is substantially parallel to an axis of rotation of the drive roller to move the elongated member along an arcuate path about the drive roller. A roll-up machine comprises a drive roller supported by a frame and a mandrel supported adjacent the drive roller. A tucking bar supported by a forward end of the frame is provided for tucking the sheet material between the drive roller and the mandrel. A method for rolling sheet material includes the steps of displacing the tucking bar to direct sheet material between a drive roller and a mandrel and rolling the sheet material on the mandrel.

Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping net about bales formed in the baling chamber of a large round baler is arranged such that the net material supply roll is pressed directly against the driven wrap material feed roll by a pressure roll carried by a pair of transversely spaced lower arm portions of a lower arm section of a vertically swingable pressure arm assembly that also includes a separate, upper arm section. The force pressing the pressure roll against the supply roll originates with gas springs coupled to a linkage that is in turn coupled to transversely spaced upper arm portions of the upper arm section, these arm portions carrying respective force transfer rollers that engage respective intermediate sections of the lower arm portions.

Abstract: A round baler for forming crop material into cylindrical bales, having a main frame, a plurality of conveying elements supported on main frame for defining a bale forming chamber, and a pickup for feeding crop material into said chamber. The conveying elements each have a crop engaging surface extending transversely of the main frame for forming a cylindrical package of crop material under conditions where the pickup is feeding crop material into the chamber. A dispensing assembly dispenses wrapping material from a storage container into the chamber for wrapping the outer surface of the cylindrical package of crop material to form a round bale. The storage container, mounted in an operative position on the main frame, is pivotable to an inoperative position away from the dispensing assembly for providing unobstructed access to the storage container and the dispensing assembly.

Packaging material is dispensed from a packaging material dispenser, and relative rotation is provided between the dispenser and a load to wrap packaging material around the load. The packaging material holder is positioned on the rotating surface of a turntable but is isolated from any electrical or fluid power source of a rotatable surface of the turntable. Abstract: A round baler is disclosed as including an improved bale wrapping mechanism that provides positive feeding of the wrapper at the start of the wrapping cycle. The mechanism includes a shiftable frame carrying a pair of feed rollers, with one of the rollers being brought into engagement with a stretch of the belts moving toward the baling chamber when the frame is shifted to a starting position. The wrapping mechanism is configured so that the belt stretch and the one feed roller cooperatively define a nip that is located downstream along the wrapper path from the nip defined between the feed rollers. A cutting assembly is disposed to sever the wrapper at a point spaced downstream from the nip defined between the belt stretch and the one roller, thereby insuring the wrapper presents a free end that is trapped between the one roller and the belt stretch when the frame is moved to the starting position.
