  • Patent number: 10604284
Abstract: A stretch wrapping apparatus is adapted for use with an automated palletizing machine to securely stabilize loads prepared by the palletizing machine. The stretch wrapping machine works with a rotatable turntable on which the palletized load is placed. A stretch wrapping head feeds pre-stretched wrapping film toward the rotating load and air jets blow the tail of the film onto the load. Relative rotational movement is created between the wrapping head and the load and the free end of the film is unsupported by any mechanical structure and is directed toward the load only with air from the jets. The film attaches to an outer surface the load and the wrapping head moves vertically so that the load is helically wrapped. Film is dispensed at a rate to provide payout of film that is consistent with the demand as each load corner transitions through its relative distance change from the dispensing point based on calculations intervals.

  • Patent number: 4534388
Abstract: A self-cleaning system and method for dispersing aggregates in a fluid medium is provided. The system is comprised of first and second members operatively associated to form an internal chamber and having an inlet to the chamber for admitting the fluid to be treated. At least one of the members is biased toward the other whereby the introduction of a fluid medium to be treated into the chamber under an operating pressure in the range of from about 50 to about 1,000 psid (3.5 to 70.3 kg/cm.sup.2) provides an elongated orifice between the first and second members having a transverse dimension or width of from about 1 to about 1,500 micrometers for egress of the fluid medium. As the fluid passes through the elongated orifice, aggregates contained therein are dispersed. The system is self-cleaning by virtue of the biased nature of at least one of the members toward the other, thereby providing longer onstream operation and requiring less servicing.

  • Patent number: 4527376
Abstract: A collapser/collector and strapping apparatus for processing box partitions to place them in condition for shipment. The assembled partitions are collapsed and moved vertically into transversely indexed slots of a collector. From the indexed slots, the partitions are placed into bundles of a preselected number of partitions. The bundles are then delivered to a strapping section where straps are applied to hold each bundle together for further processing.

  • Patent number: 4458380
Abstract: When hanging from a conveyor line, cleaned eviscerated, whole poultry is stiff and in a "rigor mortis" type condition. This condition makes it very difficult to compress the stretched-out, stiff bird into a compact, plumb-appearing shape so that it can be readily placed into a bag for further packaging. Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus in which a cam actuated tray picks up the bird while it is hanging from shackles, and pushes the bird towards its legs so that the legs are forcibly flexed and the stiffened condition is overcome. Once this initial flexing takes place the legs can easily be repositioned either manually or on most automatic loading equipment.

  • Patent number: 4375186
Abstract: This cord hanking machine has two turntables coaxially mounted on a carrier, each having pair of coiling posts spaced to opposite sides of its axis and projecting away from the other turntable. The carrier swings about an axis transverse to the coinciding axes of the turntables to carry each turntable alternately to a coiling station and to a tying station. Gripper jaws at the outer end of each post open to clamp a straight stretch of cord presented to the turntable at the coiling station. As that turntable rotates, an oscillating cord guide adjacent to the coiling station guides the cord into a coil around its posts. At the tying station a tying machine moves bodily toward the turntable and places a wire tie around the coiled cord on it. During tying, a claw on the tying machine engages behind the coil, and as the tying machine retracts from the turntable the hank is thereby drawn off of its posts.

  • Patent number: 4355493
Abstract: A roller chute apparatus for packaging a flexible plastic bag filled with liquid in a box has four stacks of rotatably supported vertically spaced rollers. The four stacks extend a substantial depth into the box around the inside of the box sidewalls forming two pair of mutually opposing stacks. A first pair extends above the open top of the box and cooperates with the second pair in guiding the bag into the box. The second pair extends above the top of the box with opposing stacks being mutually spaced a greater distance than opposing sidewalls of the box, thereby forming a funnel-like opening with the first pair. A driver roller is substantially located above and adjacent to the top of the box forming an angular transition between each of the portions of the second pair extending above and below the top of the box.

  • Patent number: 4270424
Abstract: A continuous strip (16) of metal with boxed discrete capacitors (10) assembled thereon is cyclically advanced to move a leading section of the strip into a positioned chamber (48) of a multi-chamber magazine (46). After a predetermined number of advancements of the strip, a cutter (76,83) is operated to sever the strip and then an auxiliary feed device (107-118) is rendered effective to advance the trailing extremity of the severed strip into the magazine chamber. Immediately thereafter the magazine is indexed to position another chamber to receive a subsequently advanced section of the strip. Upon loading of a magazine with a strip and assembled capacitors in each chamber, facilities (127-142) are rendered effective to advance a new magazine into position to receive additional sections of the strip with the assembled capacitors.
