  • Patent number: 11254455
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to packaging apparatuses and methods adapted to wrap absorbent paper product in a continuous sheet of film formed into tube shape with an asymmetric opening. A former may include a plurality of forming members, wherein each forming member includes an outer surface connected with an inner surface along an edge. In operation, a continuous sheet of film advances around the edges of the forming members and forms an opening. In addition, opposing longitudinal edges of the continuous sheet are guided into an overlapping arrangement that forms the plastic film into a tube shape that extends downstream from the opening in the machine direction. The opening is symmetrical about a first axis and is asymmetrical about a second axis. Absorbent paper product to be packaged advances in the machine direction through the opening and into the tube.

Abstract: A film clamping and cutting device of stretch wrapping machines is revealed. A film clamping and cutting unit and a drag set used as an auxiliary are disposed on a turntable. The drag set includes a rotatable block which is connected to an assembly wheel of the film clamping and cutting unit. The rotatable block is connected to a shaft clipped in a clip space formed between a drag plate and a clip. An elastic body is assembled between the drag plate and the clip. By way of the drag plate, the clip and the elastic body, the shaft connected to the rotatable block is not released from the clip space until a film clamping and cutting rod and a clamp reach certain positions. Thus a connection rod disposed on the rotatable block drives the clamp to clip film timely so as to clamp and cut the film precisely.

  • Patent number: 8191340
Abstract: A mandrel for supporting a roll of flexible web material has a brake mounted thereto that can be selectively activated to apply a braking force to rotation of the roll of flexible material about the mandrel. The brake includes an inflatable bladder and a shoe, such that when the bladder is inflated the shoe is pushed into engagement with the core of the roll of flexible material. The mandrel is particularly well suited for use with a packaging machine in which a sheet of flexible material is indexed form the supply roll. Before the completion of an indexing cycle, the bladder may be inflated such that further advancement of the sheet of flexible material or rotation of the supply roll is countered and inhibited. This braking of the supply roll advantageously introduces tension to the sheet of flexible material without the use of a dancer roll arrangement.

Abstract: Method and material for wrapping items using a wrapping material made up of separate wrapping portions of a predetermined length. The wrapping portions are attached and released at their ends using a Z-lock system including a discrete laminate. The discrete laminate of the Z-lock system holds the wrapping portions together during manufacturing but can also easily release or separate the wrapping portions at a desired point in the wrapping process. The separating of the wrapping portions exposes an adhesive that is use to securely bond at least one wrapping portion to the item being wrapped at the end of a wrapping cycle.
