A container-receiving portion can comprise a first retaining feature in the first inner side panel and the first outer side panel and an opposing second retaining feature in the second inner side panel and the second outer side panel. A top portion of the container can be retained by the first and second retaining features.

Abstract: Packaging is disclosed for a medical needle, such as a pen needle, having a hub with a patient end of the needle protruding from a distal end thereof. The packaging includes a tube having a first closed end into which the patient end of the needle is inserted so that the hub contacts an interior of the tube, a second closed end enclosing a proximal end of the hub, and a circumferential region disposed between the proximal end of the hub and the second closed end for opening the package to expose the proximal end of the hub.

Abstract: A thermoform packaging machine comprising at least one cross cutting station that includes a punching device for cutting out strip cuts from a packaging film. The thermoform packaging machine also includes a receptacle for receiving a stack of a plurality of the strip cuts and a slide element for supporting the weight of the stack during operation of the punching device. The slide may be position to be inserted between two adjacent strip cuts in the stack in the receptacle. A method of operating such a thermoform packaging machine is also described.

Abstract: A beverage capsule is provided for use in a beverage preparing machine. A system and process for making the beverage capsule is also provided. The beverage capsule includes a body defining an interior space having an opening. A filter is disposed in the body to define an ingredients chamber and an extraction chamber. The filter has an air flow permeability of at least 400 L/s.m2. Ingredients are disposed in the ingredients chamber and a cover is dispensed over the opening to seal the interior space. The filter includes a vent region between the top surface of the ingredients and the bottom surface of cover for venting gas through said filter between said ingredients chamber and said extraction chamber. An alternate embodiment includes air flow channels defined in a side wall of body.

The receiving containers can be formed integral with the manifold by welding together a second portion of the opposing flexible sheets or can comprise separate containers that are coupled to the manifold.

Abstract: A disposable flexible multi-panel sterilization assembly incorporating an integrated fastening system. The disposable flexible multi-panel sterilization assembly includes a barrier panel configured to be folded around content to be sterilized to form a package. The assembly further includes a fold protection panel having a proximal end adjacent the barrier panel and a distal end such that the distal end covers the one or more panel edges of the barrier panel after the barrier panel is in the folded configuration. The integrated fastening system is a barrier panel attachment means located on a portion of the barrier panel for securing one or more panel edges of the barrier panel in a folded configuration around content to be sterilized. The barrier panel attachment means are configured to secure the one or more panel edges in a folded configuration.

Abstract: An adjustable pouch machine comprises a vertical sealer module forms transverse seals between two plies of a pouch web to partially define a plurality of pouches. Rollers selectively tension and relax the web on the vertically oriented wheel, allowing them to drop away from heated lands on emergency and cycle stops. A filler wheel has a plurality of adjustable gripper units mounted directly thereon for transporting independent separate pouches cut from the pouch web. An adjustable knife is selectively provided with changeable knife hub sets to handle a variety of pouch sizes where a filler wheel alternately first fills and seals pouches in a train. Gear linkage accommodates variation in distance between hubs of different sets. Various embodiments, apparatus and methods are described.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a standing bag type container and aims to increase a visibility of the residual liquid volume in accordance with the progress of infusion process. The standing bag type container includes a bag 10 made of soft resin films and forming at its one end a base member 20 and an outlet port 18 at the other end of the bag. A suspension of the bag 10 is done in a manner that the base member 20 is located at the top. Marks for indication of residual liquid volume are printed on the surface of the bag. An infusion liquid is charged to the bag while an air gap 109? is left, so that a residual liquid volume is verified from the liquid level. Under the suspended condition, the base member 20 has a value of width which is unchanged from the when the bag is under upright condition. The base member 20 is not collapsed and maintains its width even when the residual liquid volume is zero.

The web of expandable bags includes a plurality of connected bags. Each bag includes a front ply and a back ply, and each bag is connected to an adjacent bag by a perforated connection. The front and back plies are joined to define a compartment that includes a first side, a second side, a third side that extends between the first side and the second side, and a bag opening that is configured to be closed. The front and back plies include a plurality of slits, and the plurality of slits are arranged in a plurality of spaced apart rows. The plurality of slits allows the compartment to expand in a direction that is perpendicular to the arrangement of the plurality of slits.

The strip packaging material and the adhesive are produced such that respectively one strip (12) can be removed from the external packaging (50). The remaining strips (12) remain arranged in the original position thereof in the packaging (50) without sliding and falling into each other, when individual strips (12) have already been removed from the packaging (50). A package band or a half-wrapper for holding and fixing the strips (12) inside the packaging (50) is rendered superfluous. The strips (12) are preferably respectively packed in a piece of packaging material that has a perforation (32) for separation into a first part and a second part.

Abstract: In the method for producing a package for bar-shaped smoking articles that has at least one outer layer intended to receive the bar-shaped smoking articles and to hold the package together, a foil strip that is suitable for the outer layer and is taken from a reel is embossed and/or provided with creasing breaks online in time with the work cadence (P) of the packaging machine and subsequently cut to size. The resulting blank is then folded around the bar-shaped smoking articles in the packaging machine. On one hand, this method allows packaging the cigarettes directly in the outer wrapper without an innerliner, and on the other hand, to strongly rationalize and simplify the entire packaging process and to apply a large variety of signs of all kinds that are perceptible visually, tactually, acoustically or by olfaction.

The pressure compresses the air in the bubble causing the bubble to expand laterally. The expanding bubble breaches along the perimeter of the lip, producing a peel flap of flexible cover material. The consumer pulls the peel flap while holding the rigid container down, to remove the cover sheet.
