Abstract: A box with a sliding opening has an integral liner to keep pourable contents fresh and dry. The box has a slide that is moveable by a user's thumb across the opening to open and close the box and the liner during the same operation. The user in one motion can either open the box and the liner to pour out the contents or close the box and the liner so the contents do not spill out. Advantageously, the box is formed from a single blank piece of paper or cardboard stock, and a single planar sheet of moisture impervious material liner is placed onto the blank and folded in a particular sequence such that the slide ends up inside the box for easy assembly with a resulting sealed liner bag inside.

Abstract: A package assembly provides a pair of openable product packets which support consumable products. The product packets are accommodated in a housing. The housing is formed from an elongate planar housing structure having a central wall and a pair of oppositely directed foldable flaps extending from opposite edges of the central wall. A transition line extends longitudinally thereacross. The packets are supported on the central wall on opposite sides of the fold line. The transition line may include a fold line, a severing line or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A system for shipping and displaying a vehicle is disclosed. A display box includes a vehicle receiving area that has a display area and an enclosed area so that when the vehicle is located in the display box a prospective purchaser can sit on the seat. For shipping a vehicle is affixed to a first display box and a second vehicle is affixed to a second display box. The second display box is inverted and reversed and is located above the first display box to form a rectangularly shaped shipping combination. First and second disposable pillars are located between the first and second vehicles to support the two display boxes when combined to form the shipping combination. In a preferred embodiment, the pillars locate in foot receiving areas of the vehicles in the first and second display boxes.

The receptacle has an opening for dispensing fluid, and the container has an opening that aligns with the receptacle opening when the receptacle is positioned within the container. The container opening defines an ergonomic cutout portion for use in grasping the container for carrying the container and receptacle together, and for dispensing fluid from the receptacle when the receptacle is positioned within the container. The container can also include window openings for viewing fluid level in the receptacle when positioned within the container, and a knockout configured to be removed from the container to allow access to the receptacle through the container. And, the receptacle can include a handle for grasping in connection with the ergonomic cutout portion for use in carrying the container and receptacle together and dispensing fluid from the receptacle.

The attachment includes a main body portion and a tab portion coupled to the main body portion. The resulting containers with reclosable flexible material are intended to be formed so as to be easily filled and closed. Furthermore, methods and apparatus for the manufacture of these cartons are disclosed.

Abstract: A quick-change tooling system includes a plurality of pickers each configured to pick specific items, and a plurality of magazines each configured to hold a stack of the items. A pick and place machine includes a carriage for moving the pickers between a picking location adjacent the magazine and a placing location. The carriage includes a quick-release clamp assembly that allows pickers for different items to be changed quickly and without the use of tools. The magazines and product support plates upon which items are also configured to be changed without the use of tools.

The blanks comprise a disc receiving opening and a pair of disc securing lugs. The disc securing lugs are adapted to contact an outer periphery of an item placed into the disc receiving opening and removed from the disc receiving opening. The front endsheet blank is connected to one of the plurality of page spread blanks and the back endsheet blank is connected along to another of the plurality of page spread blanks.

Abstract: A recyclable blister pack system is provided, including a substrate having a dry tack cohesive adhesive layer deposited on one of its surfaces and a blister layer for receiving a product. The properties of the dry tack cohesive are selected so the blister layer is separable from the substrate without leaving substantial substrate residue on the blister layer. This improves the recyclability of the blister layer.

Abstract: A water-soluble pouch suitable for use in machine dishwashing and which comprises a plurality of compartments in generally superposed or superposable relationship, each containing one or more detergent active or auxiliary components, and wherein the pouch has a volume of from about 5 to about 70 ml and a longitudinal/transverse aspect ratio in the range from about 2:1 to about 1:8, preferably from about 1:1 to about 1:4. The water-soluble pouch allows for optimum delivery of dishwashing detergent. A process for the manufacture of multi-compartment pouches and a pack to contain the pouches are also disclosed.

Abstract: An easy-open and reclosable package includes a pouch including a discrete tape including a base strip between first and second side panels; at least a first portion of the first surface of the strip coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive and adhered by the adhesive to the inner surface of the first panel at a first location, and the second surface of the strip anchored to the inner surface of the second side panel; a die cut in the first panel, defining a primary die cut segment so arranged that when the package is opened, it can be reclosed by adhering the adhesive to the first panel; and a product in the pouch. A secondary die cut segment can be disposed between the primary die cut segment and an end of the package. This secondary die cut can be at least partially underlain by the adhesive.

Abstract: A packaging assembly in which discrete cushioning or blocking and bracing members are strategically positioned so as to provide improved protection of an article such as during shipment and storage. The assembly includes a substrate and a predetermined 2- or 3-dimensional pattern of cushioning members such as inflated (e.g., gas-filled) bags selectively and optionally independently affixed to the substrate. The pattern of cushioning members is predetermined in the x, y and z directions such that, when the substrate is positioned about the article, e.g., by folding the substrate, point contact between the cushioning members and the article is created. A method of fabricating a shock protective assembly for packaging an article is also disclosed.

The display pack includes at least one container having a flat insertion portion and a chamber portion. The flat insertion portion is sandwiched between the two sheet members and the chamber portion protrudes from a plane of the sheet members via the larger cutout. Enclosing the product in the chamber portion is a lid member with a main body portion positioned over the chamber portion and an outer flange, wherein the inner flange covers the outer flange to secure the lid member to the display pack.

Abstract: A packaging machine includes a clamping arrangement, composed of a series of clamps designed to grip and release a web of flexible material, and which are coupled to a belt that is advanced along a predetermined path to advance the web of flexible through the machine. The belt is made up of side-by-side belt portions that are spliced together in axially spaced locations by the clamps, to withstand the forces and stresses placed thereon as the web material is advanced. Each clamp is formed of an upper jaw member and a lower jaw member that are pivotably interconnected together, in combination with a guide member the guides movement of the belt through the machine. The belts are independently driven by operation of a pair of motors, which are synchronously operated in order to advance the opposite edges of the web material at the same rate of speed through the machine.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a non-rectilinear flexible package comprising an in-line process including application and selective sealing of a semi-rigid strip to an inner wall of the package and further including a dual-stage die-cutting technique to remove and cut a non-linear shape into a formed web of film. The semi-rigid strip is sealed to one interior wall of the package but not the other to provide a reinforced opening to the package through which a material can be dispensed. Additionally, the dual stage die-cutting method comprises first cutting and removing a portion of the web material prior to filling the package and again cutting and removing a portion of the web material after filling, resulting in a package having a narrowed neck adjacent the closed reinforced opening at an upper portion of the package and a body of the package that is tapered towards the reinforced opening.

Abstract: A digital card holder for organizing and storing camera, cell phone or other digital memory cards and flash drives and other items sized to be retained by the product. The memory card holder includes a transparent static-free plastic sheet divided into sections. Each section has a heat sealed top loadable open-access pocket with a large overhanging flap in the front for storing the memory chips/cards. Each section has a top loadable open-access end such that each memory card can have a date, description and location information file to back up the memory card data. Pictures can also be stored in the individual pockets for each memory card for quick data access. The plastic sheet further includes a binding portion having a plurality of binding holes. Each sheet is formed from a polypropylene heavy-weight plastic (3.1 mil-3.9 mil). Each sheet has a clarity of clear standard, is PVC-free, latex-free, acid-free, moisture-free and archival-safe.

Abstract: An automatic packaging apparatus is provided, having a conveyor, a continuous longitudinally folded web, and cutting and sealing mechanisms for forming flexible pouches from the web. Each flexible pouch has an open end and an overlap portion specifically suitable for operation with the apparatus of this invention. The open end is separated and a load is inserted into one of the flexible pouches. After the load is inserted, air is withdrawn and a gas is preferably injected into the flexible pouch by a plurality of flat-profile snorkels, or a single, wider snorkel. The flexible pouch is then heat sealed to form a gas-tight seal. Controls, preferably including a servo mechanism, are used to simultaneously operate the cutting, sealing, fluid transfer and product infeed stations of the automatic packaging apparatus. As the flexible pouch moves from the fluid transfer station to the sealing station, the gas-tight seal is maintained.
