Stuffing (e.g., Mattress Ticking) Patents (Class 53/521)
  • Patent number: 7228675
Abstract: A filling device for making a mattress includes a main frame, a feed vessel, a feeding platen, a capping structure, and a power mechanism. The feed vessel includes an open top and a bottom having supplying openings. The feeding platen includes filling containers. Each of the filling containers has an inlet and a gas-supplying unit. The capping structure includes caps. The power mechanism includes a power source and at least one actuating element driven by the power source to actuate the feeding platen to move between a first position in which the inlets of the filling containers are aligned respectively with the supplying openings of the feed vessel, and a second position in which the inlets of the filling container are closed respectively by the caps of the capping structure.

  • Patent number: 6860092
Abstract: A fiber stuffing and fluffing machine utilized for fiber stuffing toys, pillows, and other skins having a venturi vacuum system, a unique agitation cavity and blade arrangement, and various unique mechanical and electrical features which provide improved stuffing and fluffing capabilities over the prior art. The art of the present invention is capable of integration into a single stand alone unit which performs improved fluffing and stuffing operations without the need for external pneumatic sources. The art of the present invention, in its various embodiments, also utilizes scroll compressors or turbine compressors heretofore not found in prior art stuffing and fluffing applications. The present art further provides means for separating foreign objects from the ingested stuffing fibers to protect the fluffer blower.

  • Patent number: 6711881
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for converting a large bale of hay into a plurality of smaller sized bales having the same nutritional composition and texture as the large bale. The apparatus comprises a first cutting assembly which has a first set of blades which are orthogonally oriented with respect to a second set of blades. The apparatus further comprises a driver head assembly which is used to force a large bale of hay through the first cutting assembly. The apparatus also has a second cutting assembly which comprises a metering knife oriented substantially orthogonal to both the first and second sets of blades of the first cutting assembly. The associated method for processing the large bale fibrous comprises a first step of producing bale sections by pushing the large bale through the first cutting assembly. The method has a second step of producing metered bales through operation of the second cutting assembly.

  • Patent number: 5199244
Abstract: A pillow filling apparatus includes an enclosed housing having an inlet chute for receiving polyester fiber material used as stuffing for the pillow. A pair of pincher rollers feed the fiber material into the housing, and a large fine-toothed roller is mounted adjacent the pinchers such that roller teeth pull and loosen fibers being fed by the pinchers. The large roller rotates at a speed great enough to throw the fibers from the roller into an air chamber. A fan is mounted to one side wall of the housing and produces an air current which is introduced into the air chamber of the housing through an inlet portal and exits the housing through an outlet portal. Fibers thrown by the roller into the air chamber are carried by the air current out of the housing through the outlet portal. A pillow tick is located at the outlet portal of the housing to receive the loosened and fluffed fiber materials.
