Oxygen, Sulfur Or Halogen Bonded Directly To The Ring Or Ring System Patents (Class 552/259)
  • Publication number: 20080206658
Abstract: A composition composition containing (A) an alkali-soluble binder and (B) an anthraquinone dye of formula (I) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently of the other hydrogen, Q-Cgalkyl which may be unsubstituted or substituted by one or more halogen atoms, hydroxy groups, mercapto groups, amino groups, phenyl groups or C1QalkOXy groups, or —X—[—O—Y]n-ZH, wherein X and Y are each independently of the other C2-C6alkylene, Z denotes oxygen or sulphur and n is a number from 1 to 10, with the proviso that at least one of R1 and R2 is not hydrogen and at least one of R3 and R4 is not hydrogen and at least one R2, R3 and R4 is a hydroxy- or mercapto-substituted Q-Cgalkyl group, and R5 to R10 are each independently of the other hydrogen or Ci-Cgalkyl, is useful for the production of colour filters for liquid crystal displays, flat-panel displays, colour image pickup tubes, colour-copying machines etc.

  • Patent number: 6593483
Abstract: Blue colorants comprising a chromophore having at least one poly(oxyalkylene) chain attached to the 1- position, the 4- position, or both, through aromatic amino group or groups, of an anthraquinone backbone are provided. Such colorants exhibit excellent amine/base stability and thermal stability, effective colorations, excellent low extraction rates, and high lightfastness levels, particularly when incorporated within certain media and/or on the surface of certain substrates, particularly polyesters, polyolefins, and polyurethanes. The poly(oxyalkylene) chain or chains can be conveniently tailored to increase the solubility or compatibility in different solvents or resins thereby permitting the introduction of such excellent coloring chromophores within diverse media and/or or diverse substrates as well as provides a liquid colorant which facilitates handling. Compositions and articles comprising such colorants are provided as well as methods for producing such inventive colorants.
