Abstract: Amine-complexed zinc salts of organic diacids selected from the group consisting of (i) dicarboxylic acids, (ii) diphenols, and (iii) phthalic acids. Specifically disclosed compounds include C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkylene diamine-complexed zinc salts of thiodiphenol and sulfonyldiphenol, and ethylene diamine-complexed salts of phthalic, isophthalic and terephthalic acids. Such amine-complexed zinc salts have utility as corrosion inhibitors in coating compositions for metallic substrates, e.g., paints based on alkyds, latexes or linseed oil. Also disclosed are anticorrosion additives, comprising the aforementioned amine-complexed salts distended on mineral fillers such as kaolin, and a method of making same by reaction of zinc oxide, amine, and organic diacid, at elevated temperatures, in an aqueous slurry of the mineral filler. At least the dicarboxylic acid and diphenol derived salts also display utility as inhibitors of marine growth (algae and barnacles) on substrates.
Abstract: Mixtures of a metal salt of formula ##STR1## and a metal salt of formula ##STR2## in which formulae (1) and (2) Me is a metal ion of valency n,n is 2, 3 or 4, andeach of the rings A and B independently of the other is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or an .alpha.
Abstract: The invention relates to metal salicylates of the formula ##STR1## wherein Me is a metal ion of valency n,n is 2, 3 or 4, andeach of the rings A and B independently of the other is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or an .alpha.-methylbenzyl radical. The metal salicylates are particularly suitable developers for the color former in pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording materials.
Abstract: As new compound is provided a cyclohexane derivative of the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, an alkylthioalkyl group or an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group; and R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted benzyl group, a phenethyl group, a phenoxymethyl group, a 2-thienylmethyl group, an alkoxymethyl group or an alkylthiomethyl group, or a salt of said cyclohexane compound. This cyclohexane compound exhibits useful plant-growth regulating effects on crop-plants and also non-crop plants such as lawn and may be prepared by cyclization of an acetonylsuccinic acid dialkyl ester, followed by reaction with an organic acid chloride and by intermolecular rearrangement.
Abstract: A triboelectrically chargeable composition for use in development of electrostatic latent images. The composition contains a metal complex of an amino acid compound having an amino or mono-substituted amino group and a carboxylic group. The composition is embodied typically as a positively chargeable toner and also as a charge-imparting material for charging a toner.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of the sulphenic acid amides of the general formula (I) ##STR1## in which X represents identical or different halogen atoms,Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 are identical or different and represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl or NO.sub.2 andZ represents halogen, --OH, --NHOH or the group --OR.sup.1,in whichR.sup.1 denotes optionally substituted radicals from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl and heterocyclyl, orZ represents the group ##STR2## in which R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and denote hydrogen or a heterocyclic radical, orZ represents the group --OMin whichM denotes ammonium or the equivalent of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or heavy metal cation, for prolonging the duration of a high activity in agents for combating soil pests.
