The esters are useful as plasticizers for polyvinylchloride.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1976Date of Patent: February 27, 1979Assignee: Standard Oil Company (Indiana)Inventors: Allen I. Feinstein, Ellis K. Fields

Patent number: 4123219Abstract: A method for the chemical storage of radiant energy in which substituted naphthalenes undergo photochemical dimerization by exposure to radiant energy to form 1,2,2a,7,8,12b-hexahydro-1,8,2,7-ethanedihylidenedibenzo[a,e]cyclobuta[c]c yclooctenes, which on heating, revert to the original naphthalenes with the release of heat.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1976Date of Patent: October 31, 1978Assignee: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial ResearchInventors: Wolfgang H. F. Sasse, Tsutomu Teitei

Patent number: 4088674Abstract: This invention concerns novel ester isocyanates derived from acyloxyalkylamine hydrochlorides. The novel compounds may contain a hetero atom in either the acid or alkanolamine moiety and may contain oxalic acid as the acyl moiety.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1972Date of Patent: May 9, 1978Assignee: Rohm and Haas CompanyInventors: William D. Emmons, Jerome F. Levy

Patent number: 4079183Abstract: The esters are soluble in an aqueous solution of a base before exposure to actinic radiation but, on exposure to actinic radiation, polymerize and become insoluble in such an aqueous solution. Development of photopolymerized images does not therefore require the use of toxic or flammable organic solvents. They contain free carboxyl groups and at least one unit of the formula 1-IV ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is a carbon atom chain containing specified groupings, such as one of formula --CH.dbd.CH--CO--CH.dbd.CH--, --CH.dbd.CHCO--, --COCH.dbd.CHC.sub.6 H.sub.4 CH.dbd.CHCO--, or ##STR2## and Y is oxygen or sulfur. They are obtained by the reaction of an at least dianhydride of a polycarboxylic acid with alcoholic hydroxyl groups of an alcohol containing at least one unit of formula I-IV.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1975Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Ciba-Geigy CorporationInventor: George Edward Green

Patent number: 4070387Abstract: Tetrafluoro derivatives of 10,11-dihydrodibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-aminomethyl compounds and the corresponding N-substituted derivatives thereof, useful as antiarrhythmic agents, are prepared from tetrafluoro derivatives of 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-one by reduction to the corresponding 5-ol compound and subsequently converting said 5-ol compound to the corresponding 5-halo and the 5-aminomethyl derivatives by reactions known in the prior art.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1976Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Assignee: Merck & Co., Inc.Inventor: Marcia Elizabeth Christy
