Patent number: 4438278Abstract: Compounds useful in making crosslinkable polymers having the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl; R.sup.1 is cyano or ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 is alkyl; Z is --X--R.sup.3 --X--or ##STR3## wherein each --X-- is --O-- or --NR.sup.4 --, provided at least one --X-- is --NR.sup.4 -- wherein R.sup.4 is hydrogen or alkyl, R.sup.3 is divalent hydrocarbon and D.sub.1 and D.sub.2 together are the carbon atoms necessary to complete a 5 to 7 membered ring. These compounds can be homopolymerized or copolymerized with each other or with other polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers to give crosslinkable polymers. Such polymers can be purified by conventional purification techniques such as dialysis, diafiltration, ultrafiltration without losing their capability of crosslinking. The resulting purified polymers are particularly useful in photographic materials as gelatin extenders, binders or polymeric color couplers.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1982Date of Patent: March 20, 1984Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Ignazio S. Patent number: 4420632Abstract: The present specification provides novel analogs of carbacyclin (CBA.sub.2), 6a-carba-prostacyclin (6a-carba-PGI.sub.2), which have pronounced prostacyclin-like pharmacological activity, e.g., as platelet antiaggregatory agents. Specifically the novel chemical analogs of CBA.sub.2 are those substituted by fluoro (C-5), alkyl (C-9), interphenylene (C-5), and methano (C-6a,9). Further provided are benzindene analogs of CBA.sub.2 and substituted forms thereof, i.e., 9-deoxy-2',9-methano (or 2',9-metheno)-3-oxa-4,5,6-trinor-3,7-(1',3'-interphenylene)-PGF.sub.1 compounds. Also provided are a variety of novel chemical intermediates, e.g., substituted bicyclo[3.3.0]octane intermediates, and chemical process utilizing such intermediates which are useful in the preparation of the novel CBA.sub.2 analogs.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1980Date of Patent: December 13, 1983Assignee: The Upjohn CompanyInventor: Paul A. Patent number: 4390509Abstract: A process for the manufacture of phosphoric acid from phosphate rock is provided. The phosphate rock is digested or acidulated with an acid solution containing oxalic acid to produce phosphoric acid and calcium oxalate. Useful by-products are also formed and include calcium carbonate and ammonium oxalate. More specifically, the process provides for the production of phosphoric acid, ammonium phosphate and useful by-products utilizing synthesis gas and air to produce oxalic acid and ammonia. The synthesized oxalic acid is utilized for phosphate rock digestion to produce phosphoric acid, which can be reacted with ammonia to produce ammonium phosphate. Calcium oxalate from phosphate rock digestion is utilized to produce calcium carbonate, ammonium oxalate and oxamide.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1981Date of Patent: June 28, 1983Assignee: Agrico Chemical CompanyInventors: Charles W.
