Abstract: A process for preparing a 5-perfluoroalkyl-dihydrouracil derivative of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f represents a perfluoroalkyl group, each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic group, and Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom, which comprises (a) reacting a compound of the general formula ##STR2## wherein X represents a halogen atom or hydroxyl group, with a urea derivative of the general formula ##STR3## provided that when X is a hydroxyl group and at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, said reaction is carried out in the presence of a condensing agent, or (b) cyclizing a compound of the general formula ##STR4## and a novel intermediate compound of the above formula (IV).
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a urea derivative having the formula: ##STR1## in which A represents a straight- or branched-chain alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, an aryl group, or a heterocyclic group, and each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, a straight- or branched-chain alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, an alicyclic group, or an aryl groups, which comprises:reacting sodium salt of an N-halogenamide with a quaternary ammonium salt to obtain its addition salt and then,reacting said addition salt with an amine derivative in the absence or presence of an organic solvent.
Abstract: This invention relates to novel compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is lower alkenyl or lower alkynyl; R.sup.2 is lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl or cycloalkyl; R.sup.3 is hydrogen; R.sup.4 is alkyl, cycloalkyl or lower alkoxycarbonylalkyl or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are joined to form dimethyleneoxy (i.e. --CH.sub.2 OCH.sub.2 --) or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 taken together with the nitrogen to which they are attached, form a 5- to 6- membered heterocyclic ring, compositions containing said compounds and a method of employing said compounds as arthropod repellents.
Abstract: Tetra substituted ureas wherein at least one substituent is an aryl group have proven very oxidation resistant in the anthraquinone process for making hydrogen peroxide. The urea nitrogen is directly attached to the aryl group. These ureas can be used as a single solvent or as a component of a mixture of solvents.
Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a process for the preparation of an alkyl-substituted urea of the formula ##STR1## wherein R and R', which may be the same or different, represents hydrogen or a saturated hydrocarbon radical, provided that at least one represents a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, comprising reacting, unpressurized, at from 110.degree. to 170.degree. C., urea with an amine having a boiling point, under normal pressure, at least 10.degree. C.

Abstract: Short chain carbamoyl derivatives of long chain aliphatic amines, wherein the amino nitrogen is attached to a non-terminal methylene group, useful as non-yellowing softening and antistatic agents for laundered fabrics, detergent compositions containing an effective softening and antistatic amount of said carbamoyl derivative and a method of softening and protecting fabrics against acquiring static electricity by contacting fabrics with said composition during laundering. These compounds provide softening and antistatic protection without reducing optical brightener performance and detergency performance of the detergent composition.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of derivatives of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, and araliphatic compounds containing from 1 to 3 isocyanate groups bonded to from 1 to 3 secondary or tertiary carbon atoms, or a combination thereof, is disclosed. The process comprises reacting a compound of the formula R--(CO--NHCl).sub.n, wherein R represents an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, or araliphatic radical, with a tertiary amine having a pK.sub.a greater than 7, at a temperature from about 20.degree. to about 180.degree. C., in an inert solvent, to form a compound of the formula R--(N.dbd.C.dbd.O).sub.n, wherein the isocyanate groups are bonded to secondary or tertiary carbon atoms.

Abstract: Crosslinked random acrylate-ureadiacetoacetamide-diacetoacetamide copolymers are disclosed. These copolymers are prepared by the reaction of at least one polyfunctional acrylate with at least one ureadiacetoacetamide and at least one diacetoacetamide in the presence of a catalyst capable of promoting the reaction between the polyfunctional acrylate, the ureadiacetoacetamide, and the diacetoacetamide. In a preferred embodiment, the copolymers are employed to produce wear layer compositions for surface coverings.
Abstract: A process for producing a flame resistant rigid polyurethane foam by reacting a reaction mixture comprising a polyetherpolyol and/or a polyesterpolyol having an active hydrogen atom, a polyisocyanate, water and/or a volatile foaming agent and an emulsifying agent, in which a specific amine compound shown by the general formula as defined hereinafter in the specification is added to the reaction system, the weight ratio of amine compound to polyetherpolyol and/or polyesterpolyol being from 70:30 to 30:70, and also the flame resistant rigid polyurethane foam produced by the process.
