Acyclic Patents (Class 568/594)
  • Patent number: 4209643
Abstract: A process is described for the production of predominately linear and alpha-branched acetals by reacting a C.sub.3 or higher alpha or internal olefin, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkanol using a cobalt catalyst in the presence of a promoter which is a quaternary ammonium salt such as N-benzyl,N,N,N-trimethylammonium methoxide. When a quaternary ammonium salt is used, an increase in the rate of reaction is effected.

  • Patent number: 4188328
Abstract: A method for synthesis of 2S*,3R*-3-benzyloxy-6,6-ethylenedioxy-2-methyl-2-(5'-hydroxy-4'-methylpent yl)-oxepane, an intermediate in the synthesis of 2S*, 2S*,3R*-6-(2"-hydroxyethylidene)-2-methyl-2-(4',8'-dimethyl-5'-oxo-7'-none nyl)-oxepan-3-ol, one of the active components of the zoapatle plant, is described. The natural product is useful as a utero-evacuant agent.
